Просмотров 323Год назад
Solitary Hotel is the 4th song in cycle 'Despite and Still, op. 41 written in 1968 by Samuel Barber. It is based on a passage from James Joyce's 'Ulysses'. Barber sets a “love-at-first-sight” encounter by juxtaposing a punctuated melodic line against the passionate tango-like accompaniment. Text by James Joyce: 'Solitary hotel in a mountain pass. Autumn. Twilight. Fire lit. In dark corner young...

Congratulation to everybody, nice work !
She's soooo good. Thank you for sharing this.
Superb performance! I love how dramatic the accompaniment is! I’m a singer myself and it‘s exactly what I would like for the pianist to be like but hard to find… thank you for the inspiration.
I met Andrew Peggie almost 20 years ago. We talked a lot about music when we met and he gave me a lot of advice about composing music. I remember that we exchanged CDs with our compositions. He thanked me a lot when I was a young teenager just starting out and he was a great man. He left a lasting impression on me. A very kind, patient and approachable man. Many thanks again Andrew
hi! please, where can I get the score?
beautiful playing
Very beautiful
While both the pianist and orchestra played great, I found they were often quite noticeably out of sync, and to a far greater extent than some others I’ve heard. The piano is often speeding ahead of the orchestra which bothered me a bit, but overall the performance was still quite good. My favorite is still Pletnev’s live recording though.
01:07 the beginning is so beautiful
Мне очень нравится Ваша музыкальная индивидуальность❤
❤

Same question. If anyone found the score, pls share !
He ❤ Humans and music and Himalaya😂
Such amazing performance, BRAVA!
Bravissima! Tommaso
I so enjoyed hearing you play this and the other lesser known pieces you played in Uncharted Romanticism at St Giles yesterday,, it was a very inspirational and beautiful evening and your playing was just wonderful. I have downloaded the sheet music for 2 Pensees Musicales and can't wait to try playing them and appreciate your advice re suitably for my level. The Prelude is in the same key as Rachmaninoff's Elegie which I'm currently working on so it immediately feels accessible. Thank you so much❤
It's so cool. ♡ Can I get a score?
Please.Please😭
Excuse me, where can I get some music sheets?
Wonderful soloist...... less Wonderful conductor...😮
Pięknie 🎉❤
Cada vez que escucho este concierto me gusta mas. ¡Bravo por los intérpretes!

Something far different from Scriabin but which you might find interesting -- even enjoyable. Both pianist/composer & vocalist are Ukrainian born.

A few years ago: was testing iMac just received to see if I could record video
Was just listening to you & Sarah Nail perform Sibelius' Malinconia, when I received a notification on computer from you re: the Vaughan Williams. How interesting but sad the circumstances which inspired Malinconia's composition. Love the Sibelius violin concerto ... have for the past 70± years when I was a teenager with a wonderful piano teacher who introduced me to SO MUCH great music. Should you be curious, I live in a small town, Des Arc - population 1900± in state of Arkansas, USA, and am 84 years young. Spent 2+ hours last night playing Scriabin. And not being familiar with his piano concerto is how I discovered you tonight ... and of course subscribed to your channel - to discover even more. I've got my own channel, with all of 24 subscribers - with over 650 YT videos in playlists. But that's OK ... don't need or expecting subscribers.
Don't know why there are no comments on this most beautiful combination of cello & piano ... and Vaughan Williams. What a pleasant sound ! Thank you !
I can't even comprehend Scriabin's thought process when composing his works. One in a billion kind of person, a gift from the Gods.
Fantastic performance 🎹👏
Gra z pasją ❤😊
It IS in English (James Joyce). But the singer's diction is not good and the piano seems recorded too loud. Wonderful and unique late Barber though.
This concerto is such a masterpiece. And to think its the only one he wrote is even more badass
love the choice of this underperformed brilliant piece of musical history! ❤❤ unfortunately, as with so many recordings of piano concertos, the nuances of the piano part are too often drowned out by the forte-s of the orchestra, which is to the detriment of the 3rd mov. in particular. beautiful work by the pianist, though! 👍❤
Excellent performance of a beautiful piano concerto. Well balanced and very romantic. Wonderful 2nd movement and apotheotic ending. Congratulations.
Listened serveral times and it seems to me more and more a really masterwork . Well played by Edyta and professionel followed by this Scottiish orchestra.
This fabulous music was a recent discovery for me thanks to Erica Worth, Editor of "Pianist" magazine. Cheers, Erica! Having struggled through them myself, I'm now enjoying listening to them performed properly. I only wonder why they're "never" heard in concert or on the radio? By the way, do read about Bortkiewicz's life; you'll never complain about yours again! Thanks so much for posting.
Excellent First time I heard it
Lovely romantic music
Happy New Year my Love We just got into thd new year I know you haven't yet May it be our year
Absolutely wonderful, paradise❤🦢🌻🍏🥧
It's a very good Concert that should be interpreted more often. Miss Mydlowska plays it beautifully. Liked it. 🎶💎👍❤️
8:31 … I can not describe how beautiful this concerto is with words.
Ich Weine auch beim zweiten Satz...IMMER😢
Symphonic piano concerto.
This is an excellent account by both soloist and conductor and his orchestra !I've listened to the Scriabin concerto many times and still find it uninteresting . The playing here is wonderful.Richer recorded it and toured with it.Don't know what he saw in it .Prometheus is interesting for many reasons but it is not something that grabs many .How Ashkenazy got Argerich to bother with it yet she doesn't programme the Sonatas or smaller fantastic pieces is beyond me . 5:38 heralds the film music to come in 30 years . Orchestration and harmony very imaginative !
スクリャービンあまり聴いたことが無かったのですが、良いですね。エディータさんが、とっても美しく、ロマンティックに弾いてくださいました! 深まりゆく秋にぴったりで。東京より・・・
A truly stunning performance!
Very good performance of this gem of a piece.Well done !
This is a wonderfully impressionist piece of the 19th century getting blown into our time, here. From the sixth minute, I'm noticing a rhythmical convolution I'd have difficulty to render myself even just as a singer. The score must be full of syncopations.
The USA of those decades quite obviously have already possessed a broadly developed culture of the style of the ones of Paris, London, or Vienna. They seem to have consciously worked on it, e.g. by purchasing great men, like Dvořák (1841-1904), from Europe. It would interest me if Mrs. Beach has ever met Antonín.
This is a terrible fun to listen to.
I have certainly noticed reincarnations of some of the major composers of the 19th century, especially such of Brahms, Dvořák, Mahler, and Bruckner. So I'd absolutely love to hear under what name a reincarnated Scriabin has performed the concerto presented here in October of 1987, as he has done it according to the description.
Reincarnated correctly now... Thanks for pointing out the typo.
