    Interesting to see the EU harmonised wiring colours here. Has Australia also adopted the EU standard on it's own, or was this something ordered by London before Brexit💩 occurred? 😇 What surprises me is that the phase (line) rail is placed so close to the earth, which could make dead-shorts easier if a cent or broken plug pin ended up inside the enclosure. Is my opinion the strip should've been designed to have the phase rail at the top (Where the neutral is in this vid) a reasonable one, or is such close placement to the Earth - Knowing it might cause an overcurrent trip while the user is at the other end of the flex plugging it in - Intentional? 🔌💥😇

      Some have good points to raise which I don't mind as I do get things wrong at times. But when you get multiple people leaving the same comment you wonder how many of them are just repeating what someone else has said, so they look good for others that read the comments section. It is important to get power issue right as mentioned in some of the comments, as this stuff can be dangerous. But if we're just having a look what is inside something, having every terminology said perfectly correct isn't a big issue. The world is way to focused on everything being absolutely prefect which is what big business and governments love when people have this mindset. That way they can sell new products to people in the name of "Perfection & Being Better" as well as controlling people in the name of "It's For Your Safety" It's like saying speed cameras are there for your safety, they save lives right, but we all know the answer to that 😂 People are being brainwashed into this perfect / safety mindset and wonder why there are so many laws taking away freedom. I don't have a problem with safety, but common sense is going out the window in the name of safety or should I say control.

    I noticed the breadboard and box of components and my ears pricked up. Do you dabble in making electronic circuits? Would be cool to see a video if you do. Since moving of grid I've made a few circuits that have really helped "automate" the whole process. Mostly to do with water pumping and my wind turbine. Its really good fun, especially watching components go up in smoke when you do something wrong. Just harmless low voltage DC circuits of course 😮

    It is always going to be hard discussing things that are high risk like AC voltages. Despite the risk electrical things are bought and used by everyone everywhere. Even DC stuff has risks hence a lot of new rules popping up for caravans and mobile homes with solar panels and lithium batteries. Which is why AC and DC fundamentals should be taught in schools.

    Looks about the same as every power strip from various countries. The only substantial difference is the shape of the plastic holes for the outlets. I did open an old Swedish one recently. It was old, not grounded, and had only two outlets with no overcurrent protection but it was still just the same brass strips for hot and neutral.

    Only thing regarding the kings inverter posts, it enables you too draw too many amps to the inverter and will burn up the bms inside the battery. The 175 amp will power a 2000w inverter so it's plenty.

    • @TheSimpleLivingAussie
      @TheSimpleLivingAussie День назад

      Having 175 amp is good for short high current bursts / surge current for starting up compressors like in fridges and so on. If the BMS is working properly, it should shut down on over current. I think the Kings 120 Ah lithium battery has a 160 amp surge for 5 seconds. But yes you are right with continuous over current use will eventually hurt the BMS. However it be no different to hooking a 2K inverter straight to the 120 Ah battery. The end user still needs to take some responsibility in ensuring they stay with the batteries and inverters current limits 💥😂

      Most MPPT controllers work realy will but the input voltage needs to be a lot higher than the output voltage / charge voltage for them to run efficiently. In the case in this video my input voltage was only a few volts above the output charge voltage so the MPPT couldn't work it's magic. So I increased my panel voltages back up again and now it's all working well.

    how much excess power do you have in summer? you might be able to run a small spit system / window unit AC with all the solar during the day, and at the same time capture some water out of the air from it. you can use the water to fill the tank during the day, and run the evap during the night with all the water you got during the day.

      I got a quote to put in a split system to suit the size of my cabin and it came back at just over $4,000. So I am looking at a wall mount I can install myself. I wouldn't catch much water from an AC unit as I live in a dry climate zone so there is not a lot of moisture in the air to collect. If I was in the tropics, then that would be a different story for sure 👍

    What is the idle draw on that low frequency inverter

    • @TheSimpleLivingAussie
      @TheSimpleLivingAussie День назад

      The standby current is 0.32 amps. If we run some numbers on that, it works out to be around 7.5 amps over a 24 hour period or 375 hours of standby time on the 120 Ah battery bank which is 15 days. That's provided you don't draw any load from the inverter and turn off the solar input. It does have an idle mode where it goes to sleep until needed to save on the standby current. It sends out a pulse looking for current draw and when it sees a load being applied, it wakes up and provides power to the load. I think it dose this in 0.02 second ?

      I made the Water Corp connect the water around 8 years ago, so I can't remember what it cost but I think it was around $130 connection fee. There was no cost for the meter itself as the water corporation own the meter.
