The problem is that there are no characters in the plot, there are events. And the heroes and their motivation are not so important. If there are characters, they are like a ghost of time. Therefore, the movie would be an empty chain of images in the spirit of Terrens Malik. And not everyone could watch this.

I was watching the trailer to a movie called The Black Telephone recently. And the trailer made me not really even want to see the movie because it explained how everything in the movie worked. I bring that up because, even though this isn’t a real trailer for a real movie, this is MILES better than so many trailers these days. Scenes from the movie out of context, barely any voice overs from the movie (and NONE that explain the plot), and music that sets the tone. This is how movie trailers should be made. This was genuinely great

Is this trailer true or fake?

To make this book into a movie, it would at least have to be a solid trilogy. I think a good quality lengthy series could work... If anyone had the balls to produce it without ruining it anyhow.

Blood meridian, the best book about the worst people.

This book is such a masterpiece in so many ways.If you read books you’ll never read one as brutal,horrific,and beautiful yet poetic all at once.For all the readers,no movie adaptation can ever match this body of work

This will be a movie loosely based off of the novel. Anyone who had actually read Cormac McCarthy's masterpiece will immediately understand why attempting to turn this novel into a film is a tall order. The WAY this book is written is what makes it a classic- the dark and nhilistic subject matter- juxtiposed against the most thoughtful & beautiful writing style is a large part of what makes this novel so epic. I can see making a movie " loosely based on" or "inspired by" blood meridian, but trying to capture this book and transfer it to film is like trying to capture specific air in your bare hands and bottle it up- it simply wont work.

People are saying NC-17 is the best rating for the Blood Meridian. I disagree. To fully capture the book, it would probably have to go into some pretty illegal territory. But NC-17 is the closest we’ll get.

It's probably been said before, but one issue with them making a movie about Blood Meridian is the violence. Not the acts, but to properly capture the emotions, or lack thereof. For the viewer, it would be horror. The audience would gasp, cry, gnash their teeth and bite nails in two. But for the characters on screen, in the book, for them it was just another Tuesday.

You just can't make this into a movie. It's wayyyyy too brutal.

It's unfilmable, the only way you could picture the book with utmost genuity is with your own imagination. Any of Holden's actions in the book would be watered-down and probably would be wasted with off-screen scenes and multiple cuts. Not to mention, where are you going to find a 7-feet, hairless, giant albino with no remorse.

Yes, we are talking about how crude this movie or series could be. However, in my personal opinion this is not Cormac Mccarthy's cruelest work of fiction, I think Child of God is by far his insanest and most degenerated novel and perhaps no one will take the risk to adapt it nor will be able to handle the explicit scenes of necrophilia and child abuse.
