    I enjoyed watching your trip and especially the cost of fuel compared to mine here in California of course ours is per gallon not liter and depending on a lot of factors here I’m paying 4.19 a gallon but some stations are right at or even over the $5 mark. Shell and Chevron seem to always be the highest but just as you did on your trip if you’re fueling up out in the middle of nowhere the goes up. But like I said I enjoyed your video and I’ll be following you on your next journey so thank you drive safe and have a good day

      @@gonecaravanning I happened to drive by the local Shell station this morning and noticed the price of regular if you purchase with a debit or credit card is 5.29 a gallon but the Kwik Serv station I use all the time is 4.19 so you can see there’s a big difference between stations that just one block away from each other. Our prices here are affected by so many factors such as maintenance at a refinery and we use different blends depending on the season winter is one blend and summer is a special blend and on top of all this we pay federal and state tax that is figured into the price you pay . Every July the state tax increases a certain percentage so there’s no getting away from it🤣 And on top of all that California says no more gas powered cars can be bought after 2035

    Thanks. We keep records of spending. We sold our Merc Sprinter M/home and now motel it. The 4wd uses similar amounts of fuel to the Merc (13l/100km), but the car only uses half @ 6.6l/100km. As yet, we're still doing sums but it would appear that in the end, we'll spend similar to our van travels. Fuel here in Qld has dropped (1.699/l to under $2/l, depending on location). Fuel finder app's help to find cheaper fuel. I'm hoping to change the Ford Escape 4wd to an Isuzu M'ux in the near future so we can do more serious exploring. It's good fun travelling - when healthy! I hope you have a good trip across to Adelaide. There's a lot to see along the way, at least you should have a tail wind to help minimise fuel consumption (in theory, at least). Enjoy. We too, cannot justify cost of coffee and dining at cafe's constantly. Cans of drinks and bottled water take some justifying also. Looking forward to the summary in eight weeks. We will be keeping a much closer eye on them in the future and wont hesitate to get a wheel alignment and have tyres rotated if it looks like happening again. Another good use for pool noodles is to cut a full length spilt into them and then wrap around and secure with cable ties on your plastic pipes under the van as it helps prevent rock damage. I have watched many travel videos and more often than not at some stage most suffer from water loss or similar due to dirt road driving causing rocks to flick up and damage pipes and/or wiring.

    I understand the need for booking ahead as WA is very popular (which is why WA camping is so expensive compared to other states.... because they can) but it dampens the travelling experience as you have to work to a schedule which to me is a joy killer (might as well go on a group organised tour). I encourage every traveller to spend as much as you can afford upfront on a decent solar and lithium battery setup as it will end up being much cheaper as you can free camp 80-90% of the time. Water is available at many places to fill up e.g. service stations or the traditional once a week stop at a Caravan Park to do laundry, etc. I have 2.75KW on the roof of my mobile home with 400AH @ 24V lithium (equal to 800AH @ 12V)...with an additional 3 x 400AH @ 12v setups in my towed enclosed trailer that are used to supply the mobile home when low. Overkill????? hell yea.... but I rarely stay at paid camping which saves a bucket of cash when travelling. But the major advantage is NO SCHEDULE ......if I find a spot I like I can extend my stay without worrying about bookings, and if a place doesn't suit me, I simply move on without worrying about wasting camp site fees as very few will do refunds (even if arriving late e.g. 1-2 days....most will not give refunds and/or credits even if they have leased out the site again due to your no-show) Edit - example using your budget it is estimated that you will spend $15Kpa for site fees.....that can get you a very hi-spec solar/lithium battery setup (lithium due to weight restrictions and overall better power availability)

      @gonecaravanning 16 дней назад

      @@kadachiman7234 Thanks Kman, i couldn't agree more. I have always hated booking ahead, nothing worse than finding a beautiful spot and can't stay because you have bookings you need to get to. We have invested in more power now. 4 x 120amp lithium and 900w of solar. Will have to do a lot more freecamping now to justify that cost.🤔 Ill give it a good go.😄 Great to here other travellers thoughts on these things. your feedback is appreciated. What I did for our waste water hose was to cut eight to ten 2 meter lengths with joiners at one end so that they can be linked together for the ideal length and not have coils of hose to walk over, when packing away they live in a PVC tube in the tunnel boot where they take up next to no room.
