this is entirely out there but I would’ve LOVED if the movie took a far right turn and just had Astrid become the first dual rider. like she just has the light fury (who really deserves a name what the heck) AND stormfly and she loves them both very much and the dragons are all free range but they mostly hang around like part-time citizens. ughfhguyghfusj !!

Could've been so much better if they added this in + more character and a name maybe for the lf and didn't just end up making Astrid the trophy wife but kept her fiery character 😢😢

It is a crime that HTTYD producers killed the character of two most important female figures of this show. Astrid became the trophy wife and Light Fury lacks the character she deserves. Ruined such a big potential tbh

Oh my god, this is absolutely INCREDIBLE. The 'sky ballet' scene was so beautifully named but it was extremely short and this makes it make SO MUCH MORE SENSE. It truly is the necessary missing piece. I'm glad I have this knowledge now.

My thoughts on the light fury and the 3rd movie in general. I'm a bit iffy on light fury, I like her design (I think she's really pretty), and the fact that she can cloak, that's it, those are her only good traits as a character. The light fury is GENERIC, she is BORING, she has no personality to speak of and no character development, she is literally just the female love interest, they added her to JUSTIFY ending Hiccup's and toothless' story. She is a pretty faced, half-baked plot device they conjoined with a "Big Bad Guy" whose "DIFFERENT" from the "Big Bad Guy" that came before (Vigo grimmbourne, Krogan, Draco Bloodfist,ect.) plot device that they crushed together in a two and half hour movie, when instead, they should have took the time to break the movie into two or three parts, or even a series so light fury COULD get some character development, so she COULD develop a personality of her own and become her own character, not just some dragon who propped in of the first 5 mins of the movie whose character arch is just "oooh cute dragon boy, he's my mate now, wait, he's with a bunch of humans, I hate humans" to 20 mins later " ok, I guess humans are fine, come new husband leave the boy you've known and grew up with for like 20 some odd years of your life whose LITERALLY sacrificed himself to save you hundreds of times to be with me, whom you only met like 3 days ago",and the fact the dragons had to leave to stay safe, REALLY, COME ON, like leaving was gonna have some BIG IMPACT on keeping ALL OF DRAGON KIND safe, and what about all the other dragons all over the world, are we just supposed to believe Hiccup and his friends went around the world and saved every last captured and/or wild dragon, and brought them too that remote island in the middle of nowhere? Come up with something MORE believable, okay. Then there's the fact that all the books, the first 2 movies, and even the series, were all leading up to toothless finding another NIGHT FURY, not a subspecies, an actual, living member of the night fury species, to find that he's NOT the last of his kind. I find it hard to believe Grimmel actually killed of an entire species of dragon all by himself, and for what? To create a peaceful world? Pffftsssshhhaa! If that's your reasoning, then why stop at night furys? Why not kill off the "closely related" light fury as well? No, why not kill of the more hostile and volitaile types of dragons like the singetail? The red, green, purple deaths? The submaripper? And who can forget the skrill? Heck, why not just kill the whole of the literal TITAN CLASS while you're at it. All these other more hostile and more threatening dragons and you chose to go after the giant kitten? I know toothless is dangerous in his own rite but come on, his species may pack a punch when needed to defend themselves with that lightning/fire/plasma thing they got going on but they evolved and were built for stealth, look at the signs, night furys and light furys can cloak and hardly show themselves and perfer to come out during times of day and in places were they can blend in, they have fast nimble bodies for quick getaways, they make high precision shots that hardly ever miss and chose to attack from a distance, they have echolocation to find hidden threats and or safe paths and passages when traveling, and are quite docile when no threat is posed, now tell me, dose that sound like a vicious creature that would go out of its way to kill and destroy? No, the correct answer is no, so wanting a peaceful world shouldn't have been his reason, or at least it shouldn't have been his ONLY reason for wanting to commit genocide, and I will say it again, there is NO WAY he could have done it by himself, not in his life time it took a couple decades for elephants and rhinos to become endangered due to being hunted, and there were a lot more people hunting them, and they can't cloak OR fly, so there could've easily been a little tribe or pack of night furys hidden in an alcove somewhere or even in the hidden world, grimmel has never been there, nor does he know where it is, so even if it killed all the night furys on the surface, there's no chance he got to the ones that made their home in the hidden world, it's just not possible, and even if he did manage to find and enter the hidden world he wouldn't get in one step before he'd be literally overrun by dragons even with his deathgripper army. I rest my case, conclusion? They should've put more time, effort and thought process into the 3rd movie.

I think one of the reasons so many people dislike the light fury is that it feels like she’s taking Toothless not only from Hiccup, but from us, without any justification. Like, we got three movies to see why Astrid and Hiccup are perfect for each other, but not even one scene to show why the light fury and Toothless are even semi-good together. It kinda feels like, “why is this generic, flavorless dragon taking away my favorite character of so many years”. (There’s nothing that makes her special from any other light fury in the Hidden World, so why should we as viewers care about her any more than any of them?) If this had been in the movie, she definitely would have felt less generic and more well liked!

You think its any coincidence that they lock talons in a freefall just like the Mountain Dragons of "Dragons a Fantasy Made Real"? I know the root inspiration is the mating/fighting behavior of eagles but it'd be pretty dope if they were also referencing that spec evo dragon documentary.

God this would've been awesome, she'd be less of a bait for Toothless and more of a wild dragon who also falls for him as much as vice versa. Although I guess she was locked up by Grimmel for a while if he didn't do anything to her it shouldn't have been hard for her to reclaim her usual behavior.

So upset that hiccup and toothless were friends for 10 years almost and when this thing shows up she just makes the 3rd movie awful.

I would've loved to have seen this in the film. We could've gotten to know her a bit better with this, and its such a small scene I feel like they could've included it.

I dont think it would have made a difference, it's just more flirting and pretty flying. Would have liked the movie to show some of her story or her personality, not just how she revolves around the main character. Bc yes, this is more of the same

Man, why the hell did they delete that? We know it would take some time to produce. But this would have improved in development of the relationship between Toothless and LF (not just the two of them acting like cats purring and rubbing each other).

This would've given her character so it'd help make her something more then a blob of glitter with a single character trait 'Feminine' and it'd add some needed depth into the relationship, the whole movie she seemed to just barely tolerate toothless and did not respect his wishes in the slightest

i really liked the part when toothless and luna {what i think the lightfury's name is} locked their ... talons? hands? feet? together, because bald eagles, when they have picked eachother as like a mating pair, they will lock their talons together and do circles in mid-air! its like a thing of trust to show eachother that they put their full trust into the other, so its just rlly rlly cute :3

No, this would have been just a pretty flying scene, she'd still be a sparkling blob of plot device. What the Light Fury needed was to be an honest to goodness character- if the old as sin, dead School of Dragons could do it, this movie could. Their version of 3 is SO insanely better. The Light Fury has a character. Deathgrippers arent just evil dragons for the sake of evil. Valka and Cloudjumper have a whole part to play. Grimmel actually feels threatening. THAT is what would have saved the movie. A whole mentality change.

Yeah, I agree, this would’ve saved her character by a lot. She’d have more of a personality and this little sequence of video feels like a break from all of the other stuff in the movies and just a little “get to know her” part that fits perfectly. (I also love the bald eagle dance at the end there)

And the worst she got was being in a cage which is of course, awful. but - Stormfly, Hookfang, Meatlug, Barf and Belch were literally TRAINING DUMMIES and they could still distinguish between good and bad humans and didn't want to attack them all on sight. And she doesn't respect Toothless's desire to see his best friend in Homecoming despite warming up to Hiccup...?
