after you cut a 16ft board with a saw, equally, you have two boards at 15'11 and 15/16" And if you're not cutting off the factory edge, they will rot and split more easily. lumber is not good quality in the USA.

Great instructional step by step with material list! It might be a good idea to fill the holes in the ground with a layer of large gravel rocks so the posts can shed any water that can accumulate in the posts over the years and cause rotten posts. I built huge deck when I was 22 and thanks to Bob Villa lol... showing this method, it still stands today and I'm 58. No rotten posts. This is the best video out there today sir. Thank you!

I’m thinking about doing this above my deck and was curious if it’s loud underneath the metal roof and if so what can I do to lessen the sound? Best video I’ve seen on a lean to. Great freakin job man.

I don't like how they have the batteries sit in that tool. I feel like you are just constantly whacking the battaery on your work surface. I like how some brands like Hercules have it facing the opposite direction. No hate it just looks kind of awkward

How does one match what you built here but on a higher barn? The client only wants it half of the hiegh of the existing barn. How do i flash the ledger board to prevent wayer from running down the walls to the interior? This eill be installed onto western metal ehich has a higjer rib than standard pro rib metal. Also, do i install a double ledger, one on the interior and one on the exterior? Last question, where you bird mouth notched your rafters, can one skip the notching and make the end of the rafter where it meets the beam board flush at the top and still have an effective install? Thank you for the awesome video. Well wxecuted and explained Honestly, probably the best i have ever seen!

It’s best to stack all sheets together on saw horses . Measure your screw hole marks and pre drill all sheets in one pass together . Your screw holes will always line up this way and be perfectly uniform once installed

Instead of chalking a line on the tin, why don’t you measure your 3” over hang then every 16” or whatever your strapping is at and predill the holes for the screws? Will ensure a dead straight line of screws and easier to screw in general.

Just a small point. Reveal is the distance between the door and the door jamb. It is a distance not how level the door is. Keeping on mind, the top door jamb and the top of the door should be level. I do like that you nailed the trim on the hinged side first. I"ve seen a few guys not knowing or understanding why its done that way. All on all, its a good presentation.

Got to ask at the middle 6x6 post. Why does it look like only one of the 2x8's is bolted and not the otherside? That's my only question because I'm building one myself and your video is so far the best video to watch and learn

a few things i would have done different. I would have mixed sand and gravel into the concrete and poured it wet, its a lot stronger. Also with the roof, you never screw in the valley always on the hip. You can see how the techs have created an indent, this will eventually leak, also those sheets need the ends folded up under the other roof to stop the water from back traking.

The main issue is not sealing the bottom of the 6x6. Even tho it’s treated the concrete will eat the wood away. You should be doing at least a couple coats of driveway sealer or something along those lines to have a barrier between the wood/concrete.
