The ruins of Pompeii
The city of Pompeii was destroyed around 79 CE when, Mount Vesuvius a nearby active volcano erupted, it covered close to 18-20 feet of ash and other volcanic debris. The city’s quick burial had preserved it for centuries before its ruins were discovered in1748 and identified in 1763.
Vesuvius is still an active volcano tit rises above the Bay of Naples around Campania the height of the cone is 4,200 feet.

Sulfuric Acid stripping cell for Gold recovery
Просмотров 2 тыс.16 часов назад
This is a Sulfuric Acid Stripping Cell . In this video clip we will use a sulfuric acid stripping cell to remove gold from gold plated items. This is part 1 of 2 videos which show how to run a small sulfuric acid stripping cell . This similar to reverse electro plating strips the gold off of gold plated pins and other Electronic waste / scrap . The second video should be in a week or so, I will...
Incinerating the copper and silver cell slimes .
Просмотров 26414 дней назад
In this video we will recover gold from the copper and silver slimes . 50 plus grams of silver was recovered by leaching the slimes in nitric acid then cementing out the silver w/ copper pipe. Lessons leaned : Sulfamic acid and SMB is old The SMB drops gold better with a pH of 1-2 . Wear proper PPE Thanks for watching

In this video we will be doing a couple of things. 1.) pouring silver shot that was recovered from the silver and copper cell slimes . 2.) Copper Sulphate Maintenance : The feedstock is copper pipe with silver solder brazed joints that were cut out of a cooler on a salad bar. 3.) Filters and Paper Incineration This is Video on how I do things it isn’t a tutorial . Wear proper PPE.

I’m skeptical of those plaster casts but Pompeii and Herculaneum are fantastic!
I spend so much time wandering really wish I had few days more . They ere really rough but they started excavating in the 18 century .
@ I think the French embellished the plaster casts but who knows?
Good Job Bro
Thanks More to come
Won't be cheap sending a package from there lol... Hope you're having fun.
I will have to pick up a few more Euro's!
That’s cool! I more of a Flanderphile but I love it all.
Cool! I lived in North Holland for about 10 years. I’m pretty at home in europe. My spanish is pretty gud so I would use that in the south.
I need to get better at speaking Spanish
@ I’m sloppy in spanish but a few beers helps. Working on German too. My spoken Dutch is crappy but I get can read it pretty well.
@ Babel is OK if you can get past africans speaking Spanish. I’m going to spend a week or two in Mexico to check it out in spring sometime. I think there are mining opportunities there also.
Thanks for your sharing your adventure
Thanks for watching , More to come
Sulfuric acid eats everything but magnetite, quartz and gold
Any reason why you couldn't melt it in the mold?
Graphite absorbs too much of the heat I like the outlines you get where pouring into the mold
@Hill-13 how about a mold in a mold, graphite mold setting in a steel mold, like the steel casing in a piston
@guytelfer1353 I will have to look , I like the ceramic clay melt dishes when I sprinkle borax on the material you Dan see it pool and I swirl it around or take heat off for a second the impurity to to the metal dish and stick to the sides
Good work
Thanks we will be going after the gold next week
Aren’t the pins going to dump iron into the solution?
Probably should have weighed them but the sulfuric acid stripping cell just strips the gold . It settles down decant , filter the electrolyte/ sulfuric acid . Process gold reuse the acid for another run
@ Cool. I like your videos. Always something to learn.
@ It looks like strong sulfuric anodizes the iron mostly. The rest drops as iron(III) sulfate. Interesting. Easier than Eco-goldex E.
@ we are all in this together
@ I got all set up for chromatography but it doesn’t seem practical right now.
How much silver nitrate is used to ciment de copper for a beaker of the size used
2 liters 2 X ( 100-140 ) g of silver per Liter of solution Nitric acid used depends on silver content ( 1 -2 ml/ g of silver) Add equal amount of water. So that had close to 250 g of silver In 1000 ml of silver nitrate then double the volume by adding equal amounts of distilled water
Can the solution be used on multiple cementing process?
@ no
Nice
Thanks!
Nice
Need a way to get the Ag out without being so hard on the hands. Otherwise its ten bucks an hour.
I came up through a HVAC sheet metal ,used to not wearing gloves . Little cuts every now and then mostly blood blisters from pinching .
Brother what's the return on 1kg of silver contacts. What's your data saying.
Not really a great note taker can you send pics to Hill13refining@gmail.com?
I will try and find some data
@Hill-13 awesome brother it's for scrapitall. Trying to find per gram of contacts silver content
It really varies some smaller contacts have a thicker silver plating and some of the bigger ones fool you with the base metal content . If I had to wild ass scientific guess 20-25 % silver content on the smaller contacts . I have video I made close to a year ago , I can check but I watched his video of the breakers and the contacts I processed were different .
@@Hill-13 cheers brother
I have been using 47mm disk filters on fritted buchner funnel. I have been drying them for future analysis. Interesting video thanks.
good sound track
Hey Hill. Nice job. Man, I need to get into some silver processing. But not yet. For now, I’ll just enjoy watching your journey. I use 20 mule team borax and I blow plenty of it away. 😅
Me too plus I use it in the laundry also.
How do I keep iron sulphate from oxidizing? When I make it, its color changes after a day or two and it becomes useless.
I filter it collect the crystals and cover them with just a little water . When I needed some I take out some then put it in a filter to dry it out . Check out AKBear’s YT channel his method of making Iron Sulfate is pretty solid .
@Hill-13 Thank you very much my friend for the valuable information, good luck to you
@@Dahbawi goldrefiningforum.com/threads/lye-as-precipatant.25260/#post-267801 Check this out dissolve in hot water add a dash of HCl to oxidize the iron sulfide
A few mls of hot sulfuric should dissolve the copper maybe as a test. I would wear face shield and other protection in case of splatter.
Sometimes I wear safety glasses bad habit on my part but I did wear I respirator
@ Strongly suggest a face mask around any hot acids. I use a fan mostly outside. This is where it would be nice to own your home so you can cut holes in the roof etc.
@ I trust airflow more than respirators. I am very allergic to wheat dust and I used to work with breeding. No matter what the respirator I would be near anaphylactic shock after about 4 hours.
So much to learn. I have a very good background in chemistry and I still feel like a noob.
Me too
@ I like your channel more than Sreetips. He is kinda on production level while you are experimenting with new things.
@naughtiusmaximus830 thank you I still like watching him. That redux / distilling rig that was used to capture NOx was pretty cool . I’m going to do that next . Instead of building a scrubber for the hood right now.
@ Is that to recycle silver nitrate? I don’t want to mess with nitric fumes at my level. If I had a barn somewhere I would.
@ Feminist like to make a big deal how the patriarchy forced Madame Curie to work in the stables. The reality is they knew how nasty the shit she was working with was and didn’t want it in the building. Lung cancer seems more common in chemists. In the past anyway.
A little maintenance work 👌 I don't know what kind of borax you use, mine is water based and I need to melt the borax in the crucible first before adding the metals to the crucible for melting. Otherwise my borax will fly away 🙂
Mine too I didn’t think about melting it first . Jeez I do things the hard way some times I heat the metal up then add some flux I was rushing a just grabbed a chunk and rolled w/ it. I was going to try and seperate solutions later today by freezing really do like how you maximize your value on reusing solutions and salts
Cool👍
Thanks
Love watching lower budget refining always makes me think I could do it
You can I studied for a couple of years then decided to do it
Thanks . I studied for a while , I must admit I watched a lot on Dusan999 and Omgageek, I have refined just over 2 kilos of silver and just 23 grams of pure gold
I was going to try leeching these in a shallow pan with Eco-goldex.
It would be interesting to see the results , can it be reused how do you treat the waste w/ bleach ?
@ The spent stuff is pretty non toxic according to their site. I gave been storing it so far. I think you can dump it after treating with hydrogen peroxide. I’m still learning.
Poverty you wanna steal school computor
Not much gold on newer computers , I prefer to get things given to me . Just received some scrap electronic material from a subscriber look for an up coming mail call.
Stay in school
I kinda hate those lol such a pain to pull some of them out
Bull ring nose pliers and.small side cutters 15 minutes
@Hill-13 Ill have to get a pair and try it.
I like this channel cuz it’s close to what I am doing. Right now I’m doing eco-goldex leeches followed by electrolysis. I going to try wound copper wire as the cathode so I can drop it right into the copper cell. Have’t done yields yet.
Are you using the Eco leech to selectively remove gold from circuit boards and pins ? I have to incinerate the filtrate and papers from removing the silver in the slimes now .
@ Yeah. I was going to incinerate what was left over. ChatGPT suggested leeching over incineration. I’m not even going to crush them. My current batch is crushed broken solar cells. I put them in a rock polisher with large ball bearings. I have heard you can used grain shredders for pc cards and memory but I’m going to try this first.
@naughtiusmaximus830 I think that you might be on to something
Sorry anode although in the eco goldex they seem to reverse after a day or so and you get a precipitate which they say has good stuff also. I then drop the ph (outside as it offgasses cyanide) and precipitate with zinc wire. I’m still playing around with it obviously.
@ I’ll keep posting. I have my own atomic absorption spec I just haven’t set it up as I need venting. The benefits of Eco goldex is that I should be able to pop samples right into the AA. With nitric you have to raise the ph which is a pain in the ass.
Nice kitty!
I’m dying , she’s a bad ass
😂 she wants to know who your talking to lol
She’s something alright she loves the garage and the dog never more than a few feet apart now
That's a real nice fume hood you made, I like setup.
Work in progress . Need to complete the copper cell run , so I can do upgrades on it
Sweet ! That's a nice bit of silver from the slimes ! I really appreciate the mention and thank you on doing the GAW ! First time I've won anything!
You got it !
Awesome brother my stock pot was full but over the summer it evaporated to a sludge. Awesome brother keep them coming
4.63 grams of silver recovered from the fuses and small contacts
@Hill-13 awesome brother
I just have been tossing these. Fan burns out and cooks it typically. The dust build up is annoying too. It will be interesting to see what you can make of these.
Lots of copper some aluminum , few capacitors and transistors. Trying to knock out things to reclaim space in garage really
This is the first time I've seen fuses like this. I wonder where they're used?! I gave you the thirteenth like, and now I don't know what to do?! People say the number thirteen is unlucky 😁 Damn, if something happens to me today, I'll know it's because of the thirteenth like 😅
It’s good luck in Asian countries. These fuse were in a commercial dish washer water heater . They were heavy plated I’m cleaning up the silver cement now. I have to say I really like your method of making iron sulphate . Man I have watched that video at least a dozen times and watch it every time I make FeSO4
Seems a little diluted but still cementing. I had that problem at one time. Maybe one day ill get the time to get back into it ,!
This was from 7 small contacts and those silver plated fuses I’m going to filter the solution and clean it up this week end hopefully .
@Hill-13 yeah i remember what it was ! The silver chloride made it seem as though it was a ton of silver!
Audio is hard to hear. I'll try later with headphones. Interesting stuff.
Probably my gravelly voice
Awesome projects brother, I love watching the process.
Thanks new stuff in the works , finished up the slimes I did end up w/ a little gold
Running on circles lol ! It sucks to burn your candles at both ends !
Sometimes it seems like there just isn’t enough time in the day. Spoiler alert the slimes are taking longer to filter
@Hill-13 the slime is to thick lol. I messaged you btw
@@Hill-13Ebay has 50ml centrifuges for like $150. I decant then refill until the tube fills up.
@naughtiusmaximus830 going to check that out . I need to buy more heavy duty beakers and another 2L filtering flask , hot plate , etc, really could use a big win with the Lottery
Good looking bars! My birthday is coming up too 😂
Sweet! Big crack in melt dish though lol.. be careful not to lose silver
It’s had so much flux on it I think it’s sealed up but I do kinda worry about it sometimes
Nice bars 👍
@ one ugly one looks like 200 gram bar are the limit for the turbo torch . Silver cools quickly in the melt dish without another torch on it
@Hill-13 pretty or ugly, silver is silver my friend
Thats awesome 🎉🎉🎉
