2010 Corolla timing chain tensioner gasket. There is a possibility that you could cause the timing chain to jump timing. Not recommended for everyone. Normal procedure is to remove the valve cover to push on the tensioner.not a training video.

Eldorado outpost. This is what happens when you let your girlfriend drive your jeep. All in good fun
how much ATF oil did you leak and how much did you add to the gearbox?
Thank you!
I wish it was this easy
Usually have nothing bad to say about Toyota but this CV axle design is nothing short of retarded most other car manufacturers you don't have to bother separating the bearing from the bracket
Probably better to set the camera back for any shots of your work but don't do to many. Preferably describe and explain it and only show sticking points being handled.
Wonderful video ... doing mine tomorrow ...
Waste of time not showing everything. There are plenty of people that aren't mechanics so no point in wasting time making videos that aren't showing a complete job.
In my opinion: Wouldn't waist time rebuilding struts & go with a complete unit. You pay more, but you don't get squeaks from reused preset expended parts that seem good. Also worth mentioning, Kia has the worst suspension springs making for bouncy rides past 55 MPH. Best to get springs made from a reputable vendor that uses American made springs if possible. Korean steel does the job, but is nowhere on par with American manufacturing standards. You'd want the best replacement parts for any Kia being OEM is so terrible.
jeez...half your time spent is putting bolts into the tray...worlds slowest flat rate tech award goes to Brian G...
Doing just the strut is just fine if you have the equipment to disassemble the strut assembly. But if your a DIYer its way easier to just purchase the full strut assembly and skip that disassembly process.
Bam! And just like that the cover is off guys. Ha ha Somebody screwed the pooch and forgot to hit that record button 😮
The most unserviceable shit ever. Dealer wants $5000 for this.
On my dad’s Avalon it popped out right away, but on my awd RAV4 it was rusted out so I had to take off the exhaust and grind apart the axle carrier 😅
When you put the axel in do you hear a click knowing it locked into place?
Yes and put the opening on the retaining clip to 12 o clock
On my 2010 Toyota Corolla repair manual said to release tensioner hook turn crankshaft to counterclockwise then clockwise. Now I have 2016 Toyota Corolla 2xr-fae should turn clockwise to release the hook?
This is why I dont take ANY of my Toyotas to the dealer anymore.. He was too lazy to not even rebalance the tire and used a strong impact to put the lug nuts back on. NO Torque wrench. For the price the dealer charges the things i outlined should be done WOW.
You still doing these?
Very good video thank you
I tracked down a whining sound down to the bearing - Axle itself was in great condition -
I'm hopeful that is what is making the sound in my 2007 Rav4 3.5l. Sounds like a jet engine starting up.
I use Kroil or Deep Creep
Great, keep up the good work! I'm interested in how the bearing comes to the head of the shock absorber to mount the risers on the front (I have to replace the fastening screws to include the riser as well) Thank you!
On a 2017 Tacoma there’s an option that you can see on a screen of each tire and how much pressure is in each tire. Well that screen on my truck showed the pressure of each tire but just the other day each tire in that visual screen doesn’t show any pressure numbers for any of my tires. I’m lost. Any one know why I’m having this problem
Just got a camry and the passenger cv axel was replaced by previous owner but must’ve not done something right. The axel is still shiny and new looking but when you try and put it in gear it makes a grinding noise and won’t pull. But if you play with the steering wheel going side to side and keep putting in gear sometimes it’ll go for a couple feet and then stop and make the grinding noise again. Any help is appreciated
Make sure he used the right bolt inside the axle carrier, if he used a longer bolt and over torqued it he could of pinned the axle from spinning freely
Toyota is following ford Chevy Chrysler right down the rabbit hole!!
Was the timing chain cover leaking on this car?
I am amazed with how easy that popped out of the carrier. I’ve never seen one do that
How much would this cost?
2500-3000
First: It is not necessary to remove the disc or caliper to replace a strut. Second: It is very important to support the axel with a jack to prevent popping your CV joint and requiring an axel replacement.
It's called wasting time and charging the customer for it.
Whole time I'm wondering why the caliper and rotor have to come off
I went to a dealership where I bought my 22 Tacoma because I bought used wheels off someone to replace my steel ones and asked the dealer price to reprogram or replace the sensors they say around $500 to repgrogran and about $1000 to replace and reprogram that’s completely bs
Why would you go through all of that and replace Everything but the $15.00 old worn out shock boot that has holes in it WTF if that was my car and I paid big money for this strut replacement and I saw the same OLD WORN OUT BOOT you'd be doing this job all over again ! DO IT RIGHT !
Good luck to everyone that’s attempting this without a lift 💀😂🙈
hahah me in about two weeks 😭
What all these videos on this subject never show is the axle fully seated in the trans. Not sure why but seems to be one if not the most important part of the install.... One even show the person pounding it in and showing like a 16th gap and calling it done.
I can't find front axles for a 2004 Lexus gs300.
No rust ? Sweet.
Looks like a big a$$ oil leak. Rust proofing for winter salt
Where did you get that outer gasket? Toyota said they only sold the one inside which is an O ring. I haven't checked for leaks yet but co sidering that outer gasket if it still leaks
But I can’t do that in 4wheel drive is250…
So you don't need to drop the motor?
After my daughter caught a curve with right front tire, alignment was completely thrown off. Bent tie rod end and was told that the right strut is also bent. The shop was able to realign the front, but camber is still visually quite off. Two part question here; 1) would you suggest an "Easy strut assembly" 2) Should I replace both sides of the struts and tie rod ends? 2010 Kia w/124,000 miles.
what a great video!
Wish you could have shown the complete tear down.
Very simple, very easy, until you try to put it back in. Good grief. Live and learn….40 minutes later, I have figured it out. Turn the crank clockwise barely and the tensioner will slip right in. Start the nuts. Tighten and hope you don’t strip the stud or the nut. Oh, and when you turn the crank clockwise at the end of the procedure, make sure the car is in neutral. It won’t turn if the car isn’t.
This exact car and side, the castle nut on the ball joint is stripped.. I guess I'll have to take out the cv to get to it now? Any suggestions
Hey, I know it has been a while since this video but its the only one I can find on the 5th gen 1GRFE, which requires you to drop the oil pan vs the 4th gen due to the position of the oil filter bracket :/ ANYWAY -- Did you just have to remove the motor mounts and jack up from the transmission or did you also have to drop the front diff and the steering rack? Thank you!
So the "thresholds" don't get erased by the registration process, and one can consider the job done after registration, if you know that the previous set threshold values now (same as before) are what you want them to be?
without spending a small fortune ($150+) which OBD2 scan tool can you recommend that will actually be able to register new wheel tpms's for a 2012 Toyota Tundra. Or is there a cheap scan tool that works reliably with the techstream software to get the job accomplished? Thanks
No need to drain great oil ?
How much does it usually cost just to program the tpms??I got new rims tires and tpms but the installer didnt program them. He said they prob self program .about to go to toyota for alignment and wondering how much theyd charge roughly just to program them ..
Does anyone know labor time for 2009 camry 4 cylinder passanger side axle replacement ?
After replacing front strut assembly do you need to have wheel alignment?
Shouldn’t no
It doesn’t move freely like other cars when you disconnect the strut just up and down so your camber won’t be affected or so I was told an I didn’t get an alignment after mine just before, when I got new tires
NO. you can do a lot of things without the need for alignment. Only when you remove the tie rod and even so if you do it carefully you won't have to. Do it when replacing the tie rod.
