This game has a feature called "player culling", which means after a certain ingame time (era) a specific amount of civilizations/empires will simply dissapear because they dont have enough prestige points. This can also happen to the player by the way. The player can turn this feature off but only for the player: the AI will always get culled and this leads to an incredibly empty late game. I cant get my head around how former Firaxis programmers went ahead with such a pointless feature.
As someone Pointed out in the comments I made a slight mistake here, Towns and Cities have a cap! Apparently, my confusion came from an earlier Videos where Towns did not count towards that topic, but at least now do! That is clearly a miss on my end, and I apologize for that.

ARA is the game I never knew I needed. So much fun and relaxing.
Tbh the only thing I like more in Civ is there are more winning conditions, hope they add something like that.

Interesting game. Any chance of a run down of the factions? How is the AI in this? Good to play against? What are victory conditions. Thanks in advance
The are actually just three factions - humans, cyborgs and eldritch The Voice, but they all have multiple leaders affecting the playstyle. It is a really good war focused game, though as of now playing diplomatically is a tad too easy if you manage to make and keep friends. I hope they tweak it to be a bit harder. Otherwise it is awesome.
Not sure yet. AI definitely "cheats" in it can see the map, like it's Mega obvious. But it actually utilises that, tries to flank you recalls their units if they get too damaged and if you hunt them, they will try to get reinforcements to that unit. Victory conditions are pretty much Domination or Win the big world ending event...which is also Domination. BUT There is quite a bit of Diplomacy in the game.

Nahh the Buffs and Nerfs where not impactful/not targeted at leaders enough for certain leaders to fall out of their ranking. McDonald get's a B from me. Especially with the Fur nerf they also introduced in 1.1.
I’m still confused with the whole leaders and choosing a civ during the ages. The example is your leader Isabella and for antiquity civ you pick Rome. Do you get Roman legions/bonus? Then exploration age pick Spain. But is it possible to go from Spain to Japan ? Can you pick any civ during the ages or only ones that could make sense?
Only civs that make sense based on leader, previous civ and some other ways, like getting Mongolia when obtaining a number of horse resources
It's complicated, rule of thumb it has to make sense, and they should be "adjacent" to each other So like Spain can become Mexico. Now with that said, there are definitely exceptions to the Rule. Like Egypt can become Mongolia if they have enough horses by the end of the Age. Leaders do not dictate your Civ.

Wait a second - what is the point to crafting Heavy Plows now if they give the exact same harvest production boost as the standard plow? Am I missing something?
Wasn't heavy plow 150% which is still higher than the normal plow?

All units returning to the capital sounds like exploitable in the middle of a war. Like, someone triggers the next age and the entire frontline is secured for the defensive player.
Maybe we can see people who are close to being able to trigger the next age, so it’s just bad tactics on the attackers part to be attacking someone who is able to do that, and bad luck if someone does it while they are attacking someone else
its not exploitable, this is the intended functionality.

No, as I also said, all Wars will end when a new Age is achieved. No exploitation where there is no war.^^
@@moleundermanagement If you're in the middle of a war, right about to get a city, and the age ends, the war ends, and you get nothing. It's 100% something players will complain about.
It's even better when you start with just a settler and a scout...
This is the kind of game that needs a few more patches before i jump back into it.

@@EDaddy506 nah, it'll be a couple years before CIV7 has enough DLC to be comparable to what we already have. Release dates dont mean much anymore
so..after you said outposts can make you money like 3-4 times, in the end it turns out they *cannot* make you any money lol xD why make a video with clearly incorrect information and i'd say generally pretty bad advice all way around the only thing is to place outpost on a next to a gold mine province and where you may want a city later outposts are generally expensive and a money sink (150g each with work camp) and should be places strategically for exploitation of rare resources or to prevent enemies from expanding. they do not provide income from food, draft, production (outpost feel kind of half assed in this game)
I can't agree more with the pathing. It's a game changer, but it is also frustrating that there are nodes that snap to an invisible grid. Of course snapping to existing paths can be a good thing, but sometimes you don't want that because it won't let you place a path where you should be able to. The other annoying thing with pathing is that it also means guests can walk anywhere.... through scenary. We need barriers! But according to Frontier those barriers simply being a scenary item is "working as designed" and until they change that behaviour, I just don't want to play the game.
This is a great example or a bad decission that you carry so far than fixing it it's almost like remaking half of the game. No simple patch is gonna fix the game. It needs redesigning core aspects with tons of other things hanging from those which will break and blablabla. They may expect hell after launch.
One thing that bugs me with every 4x games and its very unrealistic is animal farming. Pigs, cows, horses, etc. should not be bound to one region/tile, it’s not like us humans can’t move animals around the globe to make it more comfortable farming. I should not have a damn pig farm surrounded by skyscraper’s, schools, and universities.

You should also emphasize that goods slotted as supplies (vice amenities and as ingredients) don't get consumed.
I stumbled on indoor stoves by accident and OMG that fertility boost!
For some reason I skipped the furniture recipe so I can't tell you when you can get it... but all my dwellings and upgrades have rugs from the weaver and it's a wonderful substitute actually. I don't remember when it comes in, maybe low medievel?, but it gives +3 health which really adds up, and makes rather quickly. I don't use ships much so I don't really use my weavers for fabrics (in my current game that in fact is another recipe I skipped and cannot find into the end of act 2 lol and by now it's worthless) so free up a few weavers and pump out rugs by the handful is what I say. Things I don't need much of, like fabric or looms, I trade for. You indeed need fabrics for certain triumphs, but you don't really need to invest your weavers into them... I may even add candles to that list as the cpu always has them and you can basically always use them. Don't waste your slot. Unless you're playing at a very high level (or as France) and you get no trades. note, industrial tools adds CRAFTING production whereas metal tools focuses on HARVEST production. Thus there is no upgrade for industrial tools on your mines or logging camps, ind tools don't have that ability at all!

planet coaster is made by fronter not the same as skylines and if im not mistaken i think these are all base game asset besides 3 rides that are part of the deluxe

yes, well, technically it could appear before that, the cap wasn't linked to your city Level put how "often" you put Items with happiness and so on in a city

Good to know that these patches only apply to new saves. I've been playing my same save from launch and thought, hmmm things feel the same

In my first play of the game I found out that my citys who went above lvl26 and got a few stats lowerd to 85 and I was unable to get higher so that was the behind the curtain cap I gues, I was unable to find something on google about it. thx for the video :D now I know :)
yeah, unfortunately I'm finding the game is not popular enough to just Google questions and get answers. This game must be even more unpopular than Humankind was cuz I could do that with Humankind. With Ara, much research needs to be done to figure out the answer. Like I still have no clue how religious conversion works- some of my best answers actually come from the in-game 'encarta' (that's an old microsoft made digitized encyclopedia... funny that it pops up here, what next a Cortana AI in an expansion pack? Clippy??) After one month it's kind of a bummer that so many Google searches only leads to reviews and such not answers to questions. But at least it's a little easier than Civ searches, where if it's not a popular question you will have to parse through the mountains of archeology related links and such lol. Thank goodness for the specified name, Ara rather than 'Civilizations' which isn't exactly easy to differentiate from a search engine perspective lol. 'Humankind' is pretty bad too... 'Old World' was the worst. But never had that with Ara really xD only Tactical RTS (Historical RTS?) players know the problem...

This list mostly showcases how unintuitive the game mechanics are. When I hear that Assyria is good because of the 25% bonus for workshops, I have to shake my head. At first glance, 25% sounds good. Yes, a quarter more! When you look closer, it's quite irrelevant. IBecause it's not a quarter more, far from it. After all, most of the production for items doesn't come from the workshop itself. It comes from items, mostly input-items but also the supply items. Neither of which are touched by the 25% bonus. All the bonus is good for is to act as an additional neolithic tools slot. Not even a rope or metal tools. Merely neolithic tools. Most of the time it will amount to a total %increase in the low-to-very-low single digits, 3%-5% of the actual production numbers. That's as far from "insane" as it can get IMHO. It may save you a single workshop throughout the game.
I do not agree with hardcap on city grow, i prefer that softcap, its much more logical, Its like saying no problem, you can have megacity one, but expect to have judge dredds all over it as people will be unhappy :D

I just hope they'll fix scalling of tech to number of turns set for a game, to be able to have longer games where you can play more within specific eras.
I played few games in Ara, one finished and this game has huge amount of issues. One that made me really angry was when 2 tritemes almost killed my battleship (this is not Civ I from 30 years ago!!!) or 3 archers almost killing my tank. Or 9 armies with 70% life was killed by 3 archers with 100% life. Combat is a joke. But I wanted to give it another try on higher difficulty (8 of 10 because on lower diff the game has no difficulty at all), I started it and I just couldnt play. I just can't do so much work again to set up everything in cities. I doubt I will play this game again, which is shame because I always wanted to have crafting and trading in Civ.
Its meh, I got it to fill in the time before Civ 7. It worked for about 10hrs 🤣🤣🤣.

@@maximuscryptosx9424 I wish you so many hours but keep in mind that they stolen all new ideas from other games and they were not successfull (villages from millenia, ammenities from ara, dynamic eras from humankind etc) on top of this they simplified the game so I don't know what they think player will be doing so many hours.

My problems with the game have nothing to do with the game coming out 6 months early. It’s the micro managing of resources in the late game. Until that is sorted or refined, this game is dead in the water.
I'd be very curious to know how you got a city to 40, as when I try to build housing beyond 30 it just goes to waste and the cap remains 30.
So there seems to be a hard cap. But it might be bugged. It might be fixed with 1.05 but I haven't reached a size yet to see if there is an issue. The Problem is that I was on an older version for a while (Only new Games get the patch grrr). Long story short, I might be wrong on that number in the end.
Note, they have fixed the Weaver Item after I recorded the Video, does not change anything of what I said :)
If its very open to modders then the game can thrive. Balance issues can be solved or changed anyway. 1.0.5 is playable.
I agree it is released at least 6 months too early.
in CIV6 there is the same problem with fast research, you start a seige with catapults and finish it with cannons...
