How much is that 170. I want to buy one. I have been working overtime like crazy. You have one of the nicest ones i have ever seen.
Hoosier pilot here, that’s going to be an amazing aircraft! Good call on the engine swap.
Thanks for posting. Dang, thats the exact panel I drew up for my Bearhawk 5, although I'm planning a GTR205x in the center stack (one remote com and one in the panel if it'll fit). Dual Batt and Dual Alt. Haven't decided on which electronic ignition. Just finishing the wings (fabric covering the flaps and ailerons. Next month the fuse comes from the hangar to my garage). That build order gives me the most time to plan avionics and engine details. I might have to pick your brains on electrical system and EFII
Beauty. I always wanted one, but the inflation in the last 4 yrs has put them out of reach.
Hello Elliot, new subscriber here..can relate. Great build progress love your Skymaster. Can relate with you, 33 yrs mil myself, wife jabs at me often wishing I would had become a pilot while in...Maintenance was just fine for me LOL. Now am getting pretty absorbed in both Rotor and fixed wing. Love the STOL's...we have much going on down in Latin & So America for humanitarian work so will start to spin up on getting edu-micated in 25' wife desires same. Looking now for homes in and around airparks to get a jump start. Will keep checking in, you will be a good inspiration. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Years...blessings
awesome works! What is the total cost for the aircraft?
Looks incredible! Envious of your wiring knowledge and skills.
BearHawk is looking Tits on Ritz
Impressive and consummate aviator you are, Ellie. Glad to see you "make it" -- pun intended. [P.S. Reports are that you sealed the deal on aviation careers for at least two Young Eagles this month. Kudos! ]
Awesome update! Bearhawk looks awesome! Congrats on the skymaster. Surprisingly never heard of them so I had to look it up. Pretty sweet hauler.
What is wrong with you keeping your shop so clean!
Elliot really glad to see the progress I have checked your sight once in a while to see if you have posted anything. Tim will be in town in a couple of weeks would like to the plane in real life.
Thanks!
I struggle to keep 1 plane with 1 engine running. 3 planes with 4 engines total? You are a braver man than I.
Just ran across this… Rusty taught me how to fly. Thank you Rusty. I’ll never forget…
What a beautiful plane
That's funny. Just found your channel searching bearhawk 5 videos and found this too. I'm in the vincennes area. Lol
Impressive STOL performance for a bird not rigged for that flying. Great flying 🔥
Still can’t believe it.
Like first intro music!!❤
Dumb move. Aerostars N7502S Unstablized approach he said. Too fast, said gear was down and he retracted for a go around but got 30 ft lower and hit the runway. Staying down would have been a runway over run at 90 mph. He said that Radio told him no maintenance on field so he Flew home 100 miles, landed safely, lost his license? for flying a an unairworthy airplane. Prop vibration could have caused engines to depart the mounts. Both props junk. Both engines require 100% tear down and x-ray inspection. Probably $80,000+.
Need more vids Elliot, Love em
Looks like a lot of fun.
You’re living my dream right there! What engine you got in there?
Thats so satisfying
Obnoxious music ruins this.
Agreed, engine noise would have been much better
Now that is a good use of slow mo
Just found this. Nice job! What a forgiving, and looks to me, a relaxing plane to fly. I'm thinking if you approach high with no power, it slips nicely as well.
What's the N number?
Why the hell would you take off again with failed landing gear?
Nice!
Outstanding First Flight. Proof of Life. Way to go Dale, and great pilot Elliot!
It ended happily, but no thanks to the 85yo pilot's idiotic decision to try and take off again. Amazingly, he was able to fly the plane around 100 miles and land safely at Ft. Lauderdale. The plane was up for sale, last I checked, but now needs a double engine teardown and two new props, so that's a minimum of $70k in repairs, I would say.
How did it all end?
nice job, not sure why you would do a go around, but whatever..maybe practicing gear ups..
Great job on Xenos build. You will love warmer weather spring and summer. Best to you. Ted Xenos #32
Congratulations! I'd love to see some soaring videos when you get around to it.
wow, those trees are tall! Nice landing . . . especially with those springy mains.
not really an oops, just pulled her off little sooner....no biggie
