Nikita Shestakov - Prelude No. 2 Op. 10 (Piano - Nikita Shestakov)
Prelude No. 2 in F# major is a very special piece from my Opus 10. As composer, I am very open to learning different styles, albeit my own. Different language and culture can enrich each other, as a certain culture or musical language ephasise certain things more, express them stronger.
French culture and music was always a mysterious and fascinating world for me. In this Prelude No. 2 I tried to reflect on the phenomena called "Impressionism". Being inspired mostly by Debussy, I tried to understand this phenomena and it's very different, "observing" perspective compared to the excessively emotional perspective in romantic styles. However, I quickly realized that every composer has a mark ...

Nikita Shestakov - Prelude op.10 no. 1 (piano - Nikita Shestakov
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.2 месяца назад
This is the opening piece of my Three preludes opus 10 - Prelude no. 1 in D minor. Composed around spring 2018, yet underage me had absolutely no intention of making it part of any opus. The idea to unite the three pieces came to me only after completing each prelude separately, with very different backgrounds and motivations. I felt that together, they formed a complete emotional journey, and ...
Nikita Shestakov - Prelude op. 10 no. 3 "Tarantella" / (piano - Nikita Shestakov)
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.2 месяца назад
This is the final piece of my Opus 10. The opus consists of three preludes, each contrasting in character. I wrote all three at around 17-18 years old. This particular piece was composed in response to a challenge to complete an entire work in a single day, which I achieved with the Tarantella. It draws inspiration from the historic Italian dance of the same name, which originated in Italy arou...

      Хорошо, напишу более развернутый отзыв. Во-первых, очень хорошое исполнение, пианист с руками и с ушами, что очень хорошо. Во-вторых, прелюдия написана со вкусом. Вкус академический, что я тоже уважаю. Момент си-бемоль мажорный, так уж и быть, не так бросается в глаза, или уши)) Мелодия отсылает немного к фа-минорному ноктюрну Шопена, а начальная фактура - к его прелюдии ми минор. Мелодия проста, но не примитивна, что хорошо, тонкая грань соблюдена. Что мне не очень понравилось - мотив чересчур часто и навязчиво повторяется, из-за этого возникает ощущение неестественности, схематичности. Видно, что автор в поисках, хорошо знает гармонический язык, но нет ощущения, что автор тонко чувствует грани гармонических эмоций, присутствует впечатление, что гармонии используются ради того, чтобы было красиво, а не для того, чтобы они что-то выражали. Есть аллюзия на обработки Грязнова. В общем, пожелаем композитору успехов в будущем))

    • @nikitashestakov.
      @nikitashestakov. 2 месяца назад

      Спасибо за Ваш отзыв! Про то, что я находился в поисках, Вы абсолютно правы. Эта прелюдия была написана мной лет в 16-17, уж точно не вспомню. А про заимствование - никогда, вот честно вам скажу, не было цели копировать какое-то конкретное произведение после прослушивания. Я не отрицаю похожесть, возможно, фактуры, но это было написано мной без желания и отсылок к знаменитым произведениями. Вы можете вспомнить даже великих композиторов, Скрябина, например. В ранний период его творчества, очень четко ощущается его собственный, богатый и нетипичный гармонический язык, и очень русский меланхонизм и тд. Но очень сильно слышно влияние Шопена до определенного момента. Из опуса два, например, номер 3 Impromtu á la masur - то, что это Скрябин написал, я узнал по паре мест с более типичной фактурой, остальное звучит как поздний Шопен. Даже Бетховен, поначалу, гораздо больше походил на Моцарта. Я считаю, что быть под влиянием это обязательно, без этого, как ни крути, люди не начинают заниматься музыкой или сочинять ее. Главное это искать себя и не стоять на месте, чем я собственно и занимаюсь, а юношеские пьесы, с которых все начиналось - гораздо более интуитивные сочинения, и с ними у меня связаны очень теплые воспоминания:) В тот период знаний было меньше, но желания сочинять и разговаривать с людьми ра языке музыки - огромное. Поэтому несмотря на все нюансы я ими всё-таки поделился с Вами. Всего хорошего, Никита

      @@nikitashestakov. Which version do you prefer? I personally prefer the alternate’s melody, but the original’s middle section and climax. I think the alternate version opens room for a more indulgent interpretation, whereas the first one invites a more restless and despairing approach. Thoughts?

    • @nikitashestakov.
      @nikitashestakov. 2 месяца назад

      As I mentioned in the description, for me the first version sounds way more "Revolutionary" and it keeps it's mood within a way narrower spectrum, whereas the second version sounds like a small fantasy. In this mix I combined the places that I preferred from each version and that in my opinion complemented to each other very well, to form the "complete" version from Scriabin material. So if I had to answer, which version I prefer as a complete work - definitely the first one. But for the creativity and variety of emotions spectrum - I would choose the second one. All the best, Nikita

    Wait was this an inspiration of Rach’s musical moment in b flat minor? If so that’s very beautiful to grab that inspiration and make something of your own! Gorgeous piece

    • @nikitashestakov.
      @nikitashestakov. 2 месяца назад

      Hi! No, it was not the inspiration:) The inspiration was the autumn atmosphere, belgian landscapes and French culture, in music -Debussy in particular. I actually tried to go further from my normal style which at that time sounded Rach-Scriabin like. The result is a sort of combination of my original styles and a reflection of impressionistic style. I gave a look to Rachmaninoff's musical moment again, and it is funny how the opening line in the upper voice of left hand is same, but the mood, setting and purpose of the pieces are so different. Nevertheless interesting observation, thank you for your comment and listening to my music. Best, Nikita

    This is my absolutely favourite performance of this piece, very cantabile, Chopinesque, melodic, beautiful inner voices, feels like it expresses the Chopin's message the best. Incredible playing! I just feel like Coda lacks a bit of smoothness in some parts (I know it's super difficult), I was wondering why was it like that? Were you nervous and tensed during the performance or didn't practice Coda to its best possible (like the rest of your performance)? Or is it just the way you play the piece normally?

    • @nikitashestakov.
      @nikitashestakov. 2 месяца назад

      Thank you so much!!💛🙏🏻 I don't like excusing the way I did something, so I believe I could have practiced more to make the coda more stable, even though it was warking quite smoothly on the day of the concert. But I think there is one fact that could have shaked the stability of the coda - I have diabetes, and it was unlucky enough that my sugar went extremely down towards the end of the performance (it almost never happens during the concert, but sometimes you cannot prevent it). Immediately after I went off stage I had to grab some food😂 and was happy that I managed to finish the performance. But I believe if it was more ready, the effect of this would be less noticable! We can always practice more;)

      Hi Sagiv, Yes, I listened a little the first movement, seems like you are inspired a lot by baroque composers (thought of mostly Bach) and some romantic style composers. Well done! Unfortunately I am super busy till the end of January, but when I have a bit more time I will give a look to the other movements! All the best, Nikita
