Same as stated by @bunglespromotion. Even after the vendors realized that traffic was diverted, they still insisted on exorbitantly jacked up prices. I still use the old road but prefer (like many others) to wait to buy food at a more conservative price.

The vendors allowed this place to go under. It was over ran with hustlers harassing and bomb rushing you...ans the prices became ridiculous...they wanted to get rich and destroyed their business....I stopped stopping a Faiths pen years ago. Food quality was also going to the dogs.... The highway contributed. But the vendors also shot themselves in the foot when they allowed the bag of men to harass and swarm motorist cars....I hated that.

The people there will have to resort to farming more now I had no idea that area was st ann Progress bring Change I guess

The food started falling off before the highway. I stopped going there long before the highway was built because the food got expensive and the quality wasn't good. In fact, the last time i went there i got diarrhea and this was a good 10 years before the higway opened

Dem food did expensive and dem jerk neva taste nuh special way. So many other places in jamaica that was worth your time and money.

No it is not completely closed down but it soon will be and the way that we can keep it open is to keep using it. I myself will not use the toll I prefer the scenic route and if I'm hungry I will stop. There are two stores if not three open at times, this is such a beautiful place and it should be used as popular as it was back in the early nineties I'm not saying Jamaica cannot be modernized but do not not shut off the locals and leave the residents with nothing to look forward to this is so sad. Right there's a good spot to rent out and hold events and everybody eat ah food.

That should have never happened its so sad for our countryside outsiders are entering the labour off our people and our country

The government letting in the chines and that was a disaster those roads and place was an attraction for both locals and tourists

Unfortunately the new highway killed business. Use to love this place when going to Ochi from Kingston. It was even better before they moved there . Fun times

There's a place in America called route 66. Same thing with highway build happened. Hundreds of miles of businesses lost their customers. Now route 66 is dust and decay.

Nice video but no narration, so viewers have to guess direction of travel, street being travelled, intersection bein crossed, places of interest being passed, etc. Do your best to give us the most and best information during your videos. Take care.

It’s beside a prison

The lack of traffic also had an impact on the fern gully tourism as well . We see similar issues with Bog walk Gauge . Pity it cannot be converted into some sort of business place, ( never say never ) with even a gas station, which may still do the area some good and keep some of the stalls in place . I grew up in Coal Gate, and know the area well, and was used to the tourists passing through the area going from Ochi to Kingston and Spanish town visa versa during the Sixties . I still pass through the are sometimes when i visit Jamaica, and the area is till a beautiful place .
