      Great to hear your efforts have contributed to the drop in the spotted lanternfly population! We just recommend that you replace the trees to help rebuild the eco-system...Keep up the great work and stay vigilant in the garden; your community efforts will help us all!

    Living next to certain types of neighbors can be frustrating with their weedy lawns and crappy invasive plants with voles and gophers. Argh, Ugh.

    • @BloomersHomeGarden
      @BloomersHomeGarden Месяц назад

      It's definitely a headache dealing with neighbors who might not be as conscientious about maintaining their lawns and gardens, especially when it comes to invasive species like the spotted lanternfly. These little critters can cause a big ruckus, not just for the aesthetics of the area, but also for the health of the local ecosystem. Proper maintenance is absolutely crucial because it helps keep these pests at bay and prevents them from spreading to other homes and nearby natural habitats. It's like being part of the neighborhood watch, but for nature! Keep fighting the good fight!

    I have them here in British Colombia west coast and it seems we only get like a month in September for them to flower compared to humid America with them blooming all summer, something PEOPLE DONT TALK ABOUT! It’s the start of August and we are zone 6b basically and they still haven’t bloomed yet. They survive the winter no problem, they aren’t tropical ones they are swamp plants then don’t like to dry out I heard, I have the summerriffic and Luna series. I also grow lavatera, zebrina, and rose of Sharon and of course a tropical Chinese in a bunch of colours

      @BloomersHomeGarden Месяц назад

      We often talk about different regions, and we're glad to hear you watch from British Colombia! Even though our hardiness zones are close, there are other criterion that make our planting palettes different. We try to grow Pacific Northwest plants that require elevation, and unfortunately they struggle here! Like we always say, we're just waiting for the science to catch up...Thanks for tuning in and "We'll See You in the Garden!"

    I had the same reaction cause I thought it wasn't glowing at first but until you look closer. The buds glow a lot brighter (perhaps cause the petals overlap) But I have seen others that have been able to make it seem brighter in grow tents or hanging baskets and it was still visible with some ambient light around. I hope they make more plant varieties.

      Absolutely @sunlitslumber ! We find that overall general ambient lighting surrounding their environment play a part in our perception level of the glow...It is amazing to see when placed in the right environment...The buds really do resemble fireflies!

      Not all of them are invasive. The yellow blooming ones definitely are (often called “archangel”) However lamium maculatum is usually well behaved. I’ve got a garden full of native plants but I’ve chosen Lamium “white Nancy” for some dry shade under a silver maple where dandelions, false strawberry, and weeds are trying to take over. I’m hoping this groundcover can out-compete these.
