Command & Control - Why It's OK and not OK
Просмотров 1297 месяцев назад
At our Mental Model Dōjō session on Feb 21, 2024 we’re discussing, or if you’re watching this video after the session, we’ve discussed the topic of how to make the shift from “instructing” leadership, which I describe as a polite form of command and control leadership, to a more coaching and facilitative style of leadership. The concept of “instructing leadership” looks like my own creation as ...

Post-COVID Reflections on Teamwork with Synchronous & Asynchronous Communication

Session slides and transcript: agile-od.com/mmdojo/14329/back-to-office-synchronous-asynchronous-communication At the heart of the issue of “back to office” is trust, or lack thereof, from management and the sense of disempowerment by the employees. Fair enough, nothing beats face-to-face interaction and there is valid cause for making in-office work back the norm. So as leaders, what can we do...

Some teams form and norm skipping storm, and consequently perform mediocrely. Other te...

Confucius once said, “At fifteen my heart was set on learning, at thirty I stood firm, at forty I had no more doubts, at fifty I knew the will of heaven, at sixty my ear was obedient, at seventy I could follow my heart’s desire without overstepping the boundaries of what was right.” In Chinese it's written like this: 子曰:吾十有五而志于学,三十而立,四十而不惑,五十而知天命,六十而耳顺,七十而从心所欲,不逾矩。 And in Japanese, it's 而立の三十代、...

Authentic Conversations and the Art of Feedbacking

Why is it so hard to have an authentic conversation? The type of conversation that you feel safe, comfortable, connected with the other person and even if it’s a tough topic, there’s mutual respect and willingness to come to a shared understanding. Either it is in a personal or business situation, wouldn’t it be great if every conversation can be deeply engaging and meaningful like this… I find...

Ooooohhhhno nono. Linear thinking is NOT my default and NOT easy. It IS the default and easy intuitive thinking of NEUROTYPICAL people!! OMG I would KILL to have my brain default to simple direct linear thinking on a daily basis LOL!! So I could plan and organize like a sane person for once!! (Aaahh it's kookoo in my brain.) Great video by the way though- it is very descriptive and accurate for how most minds operate, which is helpful even for neurodivergents to know!!

Coach Takeshi, this is a very good video, quite insightful. Thank you. I, however, would like to point out that agile is around for centuries together... it was not documented or acknowledged all the way long, that's another story. So, I tend to disagree with your thought that 'design thinking' is older than 'agile'. I would probably quote it as 'design thinking and agility have been around for a long time, and quite possibly used by our ancestors without really knowing that they were using design thinking or agility'.

Has any body developed an ambidextrous political philosophy,?? An ambidextrous political party,,,,,, the democrats and conservative merged to produce inclusive ideas and remedies for existing problems..EXAMPLE,,, the right say build the wall ,,,,, the left say open borders,,,,, THE A.P.P. The Ambidextrous Political Party says ,,,,,,, Build the border,,,,, 2000 miles of american development on our southern border ....... build A frame walls for storage and temp. housing for workers ,,, migrant and citizens,,, BUILD THE BORDER ,is the ambidextrous remedy for the border .......THE A.P.P.

I also think the combination of Scrum and Design thinking is great. For example, at openForce we often use Design Sprints to start new projects and undertakings in generall. Could you go deeper into the picture at the end of the video and explain how you operationally link the two frameworks?

Dynamic capabilities have been proposed as a useful way to understand how organizations are able to adapt to changes in technology and markets. Organizational ambidexterity the ability of senior managers to seize opportunities through the orchestration and integration of existing assets to overcome inertia and path dependence, is a core dynamic capability.
