Funny, I expected to see Souls, not Mega Man, and I was thinking "Why even mention Mega Man?". But I guess for your generation Souls WAS Mega Man, so why bother mentioning Souls, right? My suggestion is to check out Shin Megami Tensai, they are all really good, but 3 (Nocturn) in particular is an absolute fucking gem. Haven't played the newer two, and I heard they aren't as good, but Nocturn is a high water mark for story telling and world building. To this day, I have still not played anything with as much depth and content. 100 hours for 100% playthrough, and only 20 of it is going to be grinding.

Grew up with DS Castlevania games, still own them. They're not as good as SOTN though. Castlevania 1 is not a bad game, it's just hard. And yes MGS games are best when they're not emulated. Also lol, Mega Man X and X2 are easy. X3 is kinda hard at the start

Don't worry about Metal gear solid getting worse over time. It absolutely doesnt. MGS3 is my favorite

Hollow knight. That's truly the dark souls of Metroidvanias. Best metroidvania ever, fight me. Also, check out Metal Gear Acid 2 on the PSP. Super fun card system.

I wouldn't say that FFXV was exactly "bad" but it had a lot of flaws and it's one of my lowest rated FF games yet I still put in 120 hours and 100% it was still enjoyable to some extent it would seem 😂. Also if you ever need a voice for another collab let me know. 👍

I had to put down The Aliance Alive remaster. The battle system is strange and yet the game isn't challenging. I love the story tho and the characters were alright.

I am just like you. I played about 34 hours of barldurs gate, because I restarted the game 4 times, each time understanding and trying new things out. At the end, did not finish it. Final Fantasy 7 rebirth, is another game I just can't finish. It is soooo cheesy and it has too many stupid side quest. I rather watch the gameplay on youtube.

FF VIII was rushed within one year. Dont worry, it really sucks ass. Nothing against a good ass sucking, but 8 is ugly, bad art style, bad combat bad story, bad characters, strange world building...

FFVII Remake just doesn't hit the same as the original ! :(

Your arguments are understandable. FF8 was my first FF, ,my first playstation title. For that reason this game will always be in my top 10 favorite games, but I understand the controversy surrounding it. As for BG3, I finished the campaign (alhough did not beat the final boss, was too tired to strengthen my party and just watched the ending on RUclips), and I liked the world, characters, story and all the choices you could make that had real impact on the world. A phenomenal game for sure. But the gameplay of BG3 never really clicked with me as well, always had to lower difficulty to easy. I just did not understand it enough, also the whole dice tossing thing really bored me at the end. I understand some people do not like BG3.

I dropped ff7 remake 2 boogaloo because it was SOOOOO boring got to cosmo and thought why am I doing this it’s just painful!

FFVIII is my favourite game of all time. I first played as an adult and really loved the drawing/junctioning system. Try Fuzzfinger Gaming's LP/walkthrough. He has lots of tips and tricks for getting the most out of the game. Of course, it's also possible to make the game waaay too easy, so be careful with that. I haven't tried BG3 yet, but I'm wondering if I might have a similar reaction to yours. I played the first two to get a feel for the world and didn't immediately fall in love. That said, I didn't love Dragon Age Origins or Dragon Age II, but fell face-first into Dragon Age Inquisition and now can't wait for Veilguard :D

I remember FFVIII was the first rpg game I ever owned talk about jumping in at the deep end 😂 I ended up not knowing that I could use the summons so basically finished the first 2 discs without them.
