Drift Sumospeed | C6 Corvette & G35
Today, we go DRIFTING with Sumospeed. Zach gives us some good tips and information if you are wanting to build a drift car. And then we ride in his C6 Corvette and find out why it is one of the best drift cars. We also ride in his daughter's G35 as she shreds the tires then talk about why it is another great choice for drifting. Enjoy!

(Big guy from 100% Stock here) Good video. I like the music choice, some very cool shots drifting, and generally just cool to see a father daughter pair doong this stuff. It all flowed nicely and was pretty easy to watch. If I can offer a little criticism, when it came to talking about the cars, I got the sense of there being a lot of talking, without much being said. Man has a fun personality for sure, but I feel a distinct lack of direction. It might be helpful to conduct it more like an interview. Ask some specific questions, talk back and forth with the owners. I think that would also help take the pressure off for people who are not as comfortable rambling into a camera.

He put a lot of money into a car most would never want to buy. And my research shiws the 2010 & 2011 models were the worst as they were made only in Canada by then and people knew that line was going to be shut down. To bad really they are great cars. I have a 2006 and love it. If Ford would have put a stronger AOD trans in it and squeezed a little over 320HP in an engine for the Panther platform - it would probably be running today.

I hope you added a stud girdle. How much boost are you running right now? What ECU? I would have used Jay Rubin@Richard Clarks garage for the trans build.
@@Scottvegas4life If you're talking about an engine girdle, no thanks, I have one hanging in my garage from a previous build. Steel caps do just fine. Steve V is also a better trans builder in my opinion.
@@Eastcoastgarag3 I second that about Jay Ruben. None better. Ask Don Cruz about Stud Girdles, who is the guru of racing stock block motors.
@@JasonBly231 lol, it's not the only way. There's a reason why I don't run one anymore, and it's proven that billet main caps provide just as much strength. It's a engine girdle too, not a stud girdle....you sound uneducated. Sure Jay Rubin may be good but do you know Steve V? His background? His experience?
@@BVRED231 either some people have something personal against Steve or don't know his background and level of experience, attention to detail.
I had a Discussion with CRUZ about Girdles and Caps. He told me hands down Girdle is best because it ties the whole motor together including the Stock Caps and with his 109 Girdle install process it works Flawless. He has built some of the Fastest 109’s in the past 20+ years.
You had me till you said you removed the AC, very bad move on these cars IMO. Once the AC is gone it changes the entire tone.

@@JasonBly231 It wasn't working right, it was stuck on blowing on the floor. I could have fixed it but I didn't want the clutter under the hood, clean firewall, easier to work on, rarely drive the car when it's really needed.
I fell in love with this car the first time I saw it tear down the quarter mile. The sound and vibration even in the stands is hard to forget

My brother in law bought one brand new and still has it, with less then 20k on it. Starts it once a week and drives it to a few events every sumner. It's never seen rain or snow.

So has it actually ran a 9 sec pass? Car sounds like it runs well.
@@AJsSpeedShop Not on this combo. Previous setup with a built 231ci and a 6776 @36 psi went 9.81 at 142. This combo feels so much faster at 28psi on the 6466

Cool. Sounds like it ran great with the old combo. The 6766 and 6466 genII are both rated at 930 chp so I’d imagine they’d run about the same all in… the 6466 probably spools a little quicker. I’d LOVE to see a 60-130 Dragy test with your car. A lot of us Houston area turbo Buick guys do a lot of Dragy testing… it’s a great alternative to track testing if your track closes down…(like ours did). My GN has been 9.92 @ 138 off the foot brake and a way too loose converter, I have a TA motor in the works for the future.
I’m all in for the turbo Buick testing content. Not many of us out there. lol. Good luck with the channel… it’s a tough game to stick with for sure.
@@AJsSpeedShop Yeah, the 6466 spools very fast even with a .85 exhaust housing. I will try to get a good dragy run today but it's hot and muggy, so probably won't be the best.

@2640Busa Terry Houston downpipe with a cutout and what you are hearing. After that it's a 2.5 inch catback with straight thru mufflers.
So he's looking for an engine swap that's not common yet keeps the Toyota purity. How about a 2AR-FE? Frankenstein motorworks is developing a 2AR swap for the spyder and I think it's the prefect engine for the platform with 200WHP+ NA.

Also, the 2008 would have been built in January 2008 as 2009 VINs. They were the expiremental trucks.

Hey, can you post a link to the production info you referenced? I want to validate it against what I have. I created the V8 ZQ8 database and I have been working to get the production numbers for all V8 trucks. I'm at 9350 so far. That's my best guess and I have 8883 VINs in the database so far. This includes the 1109 V8 ZQ8 Sport version.

Nice! Looks like Inactually responded to it back in 2018. Now I need to figure out which configurations of V8 I am short on numbers on. I'm 27 off from his total. 9350 vs 9377. I've been working to get the numbers broken down by configuration for 2WD/4WD Z85/Z85 Ext/Crew Cabs. If I ever get it, I'll post it.
