Tray Mountain - Primitive Camping
A few weeks after filming this, my cousin who is in the video was in a terrible car accident in his Jeep that is also in the video. His vehicle is totaled, and he has suffered life-altering injuries resulting in paralysis from the waist down. Sharing this Gofundme that I created for him. Anything helps, goes a long way, and is extremely appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Thanks so much for posting such an accurate video of the hike! It's the 1st one I've found. Now we have imagery to go along with our story!
@@tiffanygoddard9304 so glad it was helpful for you! Enjoy!
Is the rock slide rough on the booty? Also, do you know if fishing is allowed down there?😁🎣
You will find a few bumps but it’s not too bad. Before you slide down, scope out where the stream is going the fastest and it should be the smoothest. Overall though you’ll be fine. On the fishing I don’t believe so as it will also be a trek to get down and will need to hop on some rocks so it will be difficult to carry all that down and back with you.
Good review. I ordered one.
That's awesome! You'll enjoy it!
Thumbnail w the yak on the water is a little misleading. Would have liked to see it in action.
I have a few other videos on the channel that show it in action. here's one: ruclips.net/video/kopZhST2S6U/видео.html
I want to order that just for that exciting experience of the UPS box outside my door
DO IT!
This was an awesome video! Can't wait to take a trip here soon!!
You’re going to love it!
Awesome video, thanks for sharing, im visiting real soon
It's one of my favorite hikes in North GA, and I think it will be one of yours too. Enjoy it and be safe on the edges at the top!
NIce review. I just recently took up Kayaking and looking to purchase one. My friend has two and letting me use one. Thanks for the review.
Glad you enjoyed it and welcome to the global kayaking community!
And the stairs suck. They made each step to high so it is tearing at your knee joints going up or down them.
Stairs are never fun!
@@andycorrea00 Well, I've climbed many a stairs more gentle then them, but if I didn't like them before, after being there a few times, I hate them now.
😆I'm with you there @@zarahofshiloh7537
Thanks, I'm considering whether to buy this for kayaking. It's not the nicest, but Dicks has it on sale for $42.49 and it look comfortable enough.
You should totally get it!
I saw your video before going in Monday and I must say that it’s a very strenuous hike. I don’t know how you guys were walking on the steep wall with water fall on the bottom! We had to sit and move little by little to cross it 😂😂😂 beautiful place but scary and hard.
Agreed! Not an easy stroll haha. Glad you got to check it out though!
This trail is seriously deadly during the summer, I ran out of water 3/4ths the way to the waterfall, and had to call my dad to bring me extra water for the hike back, definitely bringing a water purification kit next time.
You’re 100% right! I actually just did the hike again with some friends and I also ran out of water before finishing ha. Good thing I had friends with me. Always a great idea to bring an alternative 👍🏽
I'm assuming dogs are not allowed on the sliding rock?
To be honest I'm not sure on the rules. They could certainly do it but not sure if it is allowed or not. Leashed dogs are allowed on the state park, but not sure on the gorge floor when there the rock slide is.
Yes, unfortunately dogs are not allowed on this trail at all, due to the rocks
Nice vid. How long did it take to hike down and then back up the other way? Looks intimidating but we might try it this year
Everyone will be different, but it's not an actual trail since you're on the floor of the river on many parts so it is a lot of rocks. Round trip probably took 2 hours but we took our time so you could do it quicker. Definitely a fun time. Just make sure you get there early enough to the permit as they only give our a certain number per day.
Awesome. Going next summer. How long was the hike down versus the hike straight up the mountain ?
I was with a few people that had different paces, but the hike back up is much faster compared to the hike down. The hike down took us about 1 hour with the group but it can definitely be done quicker.
neat, unfortunately I didn't head down into the gorge. Nevertheless, beautiful park!
Also would you say the majority of the hike was flat? Atleast until approaching the falls?
After you do your first water crossing is when it levels out for a bit. Early on and closer to the falls it can get hilly. Definitely try and make it out there. You will enjoy it! 👍🏽
@@andycorrea00 Sweet! Thank you very much. Going out there this weekend!
Loved your video! Hopefully I can take the same route you did to keep the shoes dry😂
wtf is up with all these people "reviewing" sleeping bags they've never spent the night in?
Thanks for watching :)
Wondering the same. Thanks for the mention, saved myself several minutes of blah blah blah. On to a real review.
Found you through your Eolus 0° sleeping bag video. I use the Eolus line too. Some people think H&B is trash but I like it. New subscriber here.
Thanks for reaching out and subbing. I have yet to have any issues with it or have it not respond the way I expect it to 👍
Nice footage
Thanks so much Karen
Man that look like it was good times on the water. Me and my family ( wife , 6th boys , granddaughter , daughter-in-law , & my newborn grandson so as he gets big ) love kayaking and kayak camping. It's such a blast when you have a group of people. I like the sandals that everybody was wearing. What kind of sandals are you wearing? I have to kayak Barefooted 👣 style because i have big very very extremely wide feet sz15 6E wide with very chubby fat wide toes that are equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. My foot outgrew shoes , socks , & boots when i was 18 years old and flip flops is the only footwear that will barely and i mean barely fit my foot because of my toes being wider than the flip flops straps so this is why I have to kayak barefooted 👣. I am looking for a pair of sandals to wear for kayaking. I really appreciate if you can let me know what kind of sandals those are. Good video thank you for sharing.
Hey Mack, that’s so awesome that the whole family likes to go kayaking! It’s always exciting when you go with other people. The sandals I’m wearing in the video are called Tiva’s. They’re similar to Chacos but not as heavy and a little less expensive.
@@andycorrea00 yes it is it is so awesome that my whole entire family love to kayak & kayak camping. When my boys was lil i would take them to the river to play in & they loved it even my granddaughter. I just had a newborn grandson back in June so I waiting on him to get bigger to do the same. Oh the sandals are Tevas okay. I really really like those sandals man. I like how it fits secure around the foot so you can walk in the water with them. Wearing flip-flops in the water is very challenging & I'm afraid I'm going to break the only Footwear that i can wear. I just hope that I can find a pair that is a sz15 & wide enough to fit my foot. The sandals look cool on you man. Are they comfortable to wear all day? Thank you so much for letting me know what kind of sandals those are.
@@mackjenkins7721 that’s awesome. Bringing the grandson along will be such a great feeling I’m sure. The Tevas are great! Very versatile and comfortable. I bring them camping, wear them around the house and for general daily use. I love them!
@@andycorrea00 oh yes i bringing my grandson into the water Adventures already. He's done been in the pool for a few minutes , the river for a few minutes & of course the bathtub to take his bath. He is a very big tall boy for a newborn. I think he wants to be like his grandpa a chubby fat dude with very chubby fat wide feet because am a chubby fat dude with very chubby fat wide toes that are equally straight across. With me being a chubby fat dude am very active with my family especially with my 6 boys i have. That's awesome to hear that the Tevas are great & very comfortable to wear on your feet. That's what I'm looking for to wear them for everyday wear , kayaking , & kayak camping. I haven't found my size yet but I have for my six boys. I can't wear shoes or socks cuz they won't fit my foot because of it being so wide but my boys my boys can but they hate wearing shoes and socks because it crushes and hurts their toes so we both are happy wearing flip flops or some type of sandals that will allow our toes to spread out and not be crushed. We definitely are a flip flops family that's all we wear year round even in the winter time in 20 and 30° weather outside. Thank you so much man what the information I really do appreciate it.
Lol a class to hike a trail. Hope I pass 😂. That slide is so cool!
It’s awesome!
😥 promosm
Nice, we might have to head out there next time. Another good primitive spot is Three Forks.
Yea 3 forks is great! Let me know when you guys go out. I’m down!
I’ve been using the RAM mounts quick-grip phone mount on my dirtbike, but I haven’t mounted anything in my truck. Similar concept but has a U bolt holding onto the handlebars
Nice! I imagine there is some kind of adapter for your car to use what you already have. So much stuff out there these days!
Isn’t this the same as the Ridgeline? I have the Ridgeline an I swear I can’t tell anything different about the two. Now you was talkin rod holders I got one that attaches with like a C-clamp it’s nice don’t have to put holes in the my hull.
I’m not sure to be honest but I imagine some models already come with the pole inserts. Good to know!
Looks like a nice hike with a good view!
It was! Good camping there too. Away from busy areas.
Nice spot!
Keep up the work
Thanks so much!
How deep is the water at the end?
Not sure to be honest, but I would guess more than 10 feet deep. I couldn’t touch anything at all once I came off the sliding rock.
@@andycorrea00 well that’s sucks for me, guess I’ll be sliding down with a life vest lol
@@susanmohamed7951 haha yea that honestly would be the best bet, and if you slide on your back I'm sure you can pick up some good speed! Now I'm gonna need to try it ha.
@@andycorrea00 ima definitely have to try that … it closed due to the weather when I went but hopefully it’ll be Open next time !
@@susanmohamed7951 oh no I’m sorry to hear that. It has been raining a lot. Hope you get to experience it soon!
Great video! I've been to the gorge so many times in my life but I have never hiked down to the sliding rock. I'm wondering if it's possible to go down the way you came back out. If so, would you or would you stick to the path you took?
Thanks! Personally I would up for going the way I went out, but probably wouldn’t recommend it unless you feel fit enough to essentially climb down backwards if that makes sense. There are some areas that are very steep so it can be dangerous. I would climb up first before climbing down the steep path.
@@andycorrea00 Thank you for responding. That makes perfect sense. I've been down many times but never gone through the gate. My family is going in a couple of weeks and hoping the weather works out for us. Thanks again!
Hey i made my storage space bigger , i store my pop up tent, clothes, camping accentials. I did install 2 rod holders and 3 canopee mounts that are located 1 in front and 2 in the back where it provide shade and if it rains
That's awesome! I definitely look to add some mods soon. Thanks for sharing!
@@andycorrea00 yea im trying to add some back wheels for i can use it to roll out my kayak , just pop up when not in use but pop down when used
Hey Man, thanks for this review! I was just shopping around online for the cheapest kayak I could find (I've got a huge mortgage) and stumbled across this one. This video is really going to help me make up my mind
Hi Jack, so glad that this was helpful! It's been a great boat for me so far. Happy adventures out there!

Thanks Randy! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏽
exciting I want ride a skateboard with you 🛹🛹
Oh I love skateboard 🇰🇷🇰🇷
Don’t buy this bag it clumps up and hard to re fluffy the bag evenly.Only 1 month return after 6months you will be disappointed. Save your money and go to rei you can return up to a year there .
A bummer it didn’t work out well for you. It has been great for me so far. What bag are you using now instead?
@@andycorrea00 I’m about to order the Western Mountaineering AlpinLite 20 Degree Sleeping Bag. I hung my hyke zero bag and fluffed it and it still seems 70 percent I was backpacking/camping this Saturday up 5280 elevation and my bag failed on me I had to roll up at 1am. I too trusted this bag to bring it up that high. It was about 25 degrees out .
@@alaskanborn3459 nice, I’ve heard good things of that bag also. I appreciate you sharing your experience. Sorry to hear you went through that. Certainly not a fun position to be in. Stay safe out there!
This is so beautiful 💙I suffer with anxiety and search for peaceful videos like this to help cope. I just invested in my first kayak/paddle board hybrid and am already noticing the difference being in nature makes.
I'm so glad this video could make a moment of your day better. Being outside will 100% calm you down and value the little things, and stoked for you on your first board!! You're gonna love it. All the best to you!
These views from there are absolutely beautiful. I need to get out there for sure. 👍
Definitely add it to your list!
Wish I would have gone! Looks like a nice spot
Definitely need to get up there! Top 3 views in GA for me.

It's a nice hike! Did not realize how popular it is, but it's a top 2 for me so far in GA.
Woah, I wanna go in the Yonah Mountain…. Because it has the same name as mine!
That is too awesome! Definitely check it out if you have a chance. You will not regret it!
@@andycorrea00 I hope so, bad thing I can’t go there, because I don’t have enough money to get there and because of this pandemic."…..
@@y.m.5420 I can certainly understand. The good thing is the mountain is not going anywhere anytime soon so you can go when you're able to :)
The legend is back 🤙🏼
I was just looking to get 2 of these for a backpacking trip in the Sierras. But I’m worried about the quality. I don’t wanna freeze on a 20 degree night.
The coldest conditions I was in with it this past January on the AT was about 15 degrees. Worked great for me with 1 layer. For the money it's a great buy.
That pond looks a little fishy…
Yes and yes!! Haha. There’s beavers too!
I'm looking at that exact bag color and all lol. I wish they'd make more subdued and natural colors for those who like "stealth" camping, but a bicycle can fix that if needed. I've got their zion 2p tent and am impressed so far, which is why I'm looking st their bags now too.
The bag has been great. I'm with you on the loud colors. A plus of the light interior color is it's much easier to find items, or ticks, snakes, etc., haha. Happy camping out there!
