well i am petrified of my second cataract op as it took three years to get some vision back after my first op where i suffered cornea and macular damage the first time.

    - Given that a badly managed PCR with its dreaded downstream effects are not uncommon (not to mention endophthalmitis) do you think an elderly patient with grade 1 cataract (acuity 6/9 in one eye and 6/6 in the other after correction; can read the smallest print up close unaided) with negligible (subjective) worsening of quality of vision should take the plunge, so to speak? At which point should he decide it's time? - You didn't mention cystoid macular edema in the list of complications. What's the prognosis? How is it prevented and managed? - Is PVD (complete with Weiss ring) an independent risk factor for post-surgery retinal detachment? - How tough is IFIS to handle for a surgeon if he/she is aware of the possibility in a patient who took alfuzosin for 3 months onevyear ago and then stopped? Will appreciate a response. I am a sixty-one year old primary care physician from India, btw.

I am looking at this lens for my non dominant eye. Dominant is a mono focal distance at 20/20. Will this give me good depth of field?

Can a DMEK procedure be done at the same time as the LAL implant?

How is it for sports? I’m worried about depth perception.

Depth perception is generally best when both eyes are set to the same spot. That would be generally true for most lens implants but I'd encourage you to speak with your doctor as there are so many nuances to any individual's goals

Could certain patients benefit from a depth of focus lens such as an Apthera lens in one eye and a light adjustable lens in the other eye? Would that reduce the glare and halo effects?

Greetings from San Diego! Thank you, Dr. Patel, this is very helpful. I am scheduled for cataract and glaucoma surgery this month. I’m consulting with the surgeon tomorrow, but from my research I feel that the light adjustable lens and the Hydrus microstent will be the best options for me. Thank you for sharing your experience regarding setting one eye for distance and the other for midrange - I will bring this up with my doctor. The new technology available in this field is truly a godsend. I’m looking forward to seeing a lot better than I have my entire life - hopefully without glasses in most situations. Thanks again for the great video!
