My first attempt at creating a song with the Norns Shield using the Arcologies script. I don’t know why I decided to dive head-first with this particular script as a newbie, but after days of learning how it works, it’s paying off now. Using built-in synths and sending MIDI to the OP-1. Samples pulled from Felt instruments which are being triggered via Vale in Arcologies.

@hellokittydreamisland8327 That’s the Norns Shield. It’s like a little music computer that can run a lot of different programs (called “scripts”). You can use it as a synth, sequencer, generative music maker, effects processer, etc. I love it so far!

Hey, any 1/4” TRS cable should work just fine. I am using the RockBoard flat TRS cable in this video. Used it for over a year and had no issues-pretty reliable!

Thank you! Aw I completely forgot which synth engines I used, sorry. But they are all the stock ones that came with the OP-1, except for sampling my own voice.
i think the interface (faders) really helps make a different approach rather than using full computer, i would say itt has its own magic to it

Love all these sounds that 4-tracks w/ pedals can make! We just finished a concept album recorded on the Tascam 488 Portastudio. You can’t beat some 4 track, hands on, nob twiddling & tweaking! Half the fun is sending tracks through fx & getting lost in the simplified work flow. I had much more fun using a 4 track in the 90s than having multitrack digital recording on my iPad Just picked up a Tascam 414 mk2 & looking forward to using one again. Awesome stuff
I wholeheartedly agree. The physicality of the 414 and getting hands-on, like you say, is just so different from working in a DAW. Not saying DAWs are bad at all, but the 4-track is just a different approach altogether and really refreshing (as well as nostalgic!). Have fun with your 414!
The sound is so expressive! It tells a story! Ive never used any kind of freeze function until I got my OBNE dark star reverb, ive since been trying to come up with cool ways to use it, I STRONGLY recommend you get yourself an old blood noise endeavors dark star! I just KNOW you'd LOVE IT!
