As long as the fibers are blended together the method shouldn’t matter. Rolags spin up well and are easier to handle than a batt so being new to spinning they are a great way to make a measurable progress, just remember to make up enough to complete your project. Do not put in your dryer it will felt. Air dry is best. I try to put it out in the sun on warm days, but I have put on clothing dry racks inside as well.

Yes, a mixture of animal fats and lye water. That was the basic soap for all things. I make a lard soap made a modern version of that, but have yet to see if it will clean wool.

Reasons for not using the Bullfrog’s lazy Kate: I only have one of the metal dowels. I have yet to make the other two. I also don’t like pulling the singles up and over to ply them. There could be a number of reasons. With this once since the other fiber I bought was fine. I think it was damaged because heat and dryness before the dyer received it and the dying process just exacerbated the problem.

It made about 264 yards. I knit socks two at a time toe up I should have enough. Though they might be a little on the short side. What do you think? I love the color as well.

Standard size Drum Carder

I’m not 100% sure about your situation. ? Is the batt on the main Drum getting cought on the hooks from the small licker drum? If that’s the case the drums need to be adjusted further apart. If that is not the case. How are you removing the batt?

@@mattimakes it’s not getting caught in the small licker, I remove it by running the drum slow on reverse and pulling the batt off

@@mattimakes ahh left the mad game when dad died in 1991 as it was him who put me in it. - but have got back in too the industry when found out wild brother- Malcolm O'Dwyer still in the game at 67 age. - the weirdo thing about him was he was hopeless until he had a motor- bike accident in 1990 and was in the hastings hospital for 3 years and came out like Frankenstein - all nuts and metal from all the broken bones and a new rubber tube instead off a penis which was cut off from the accident .- Instead off doing 60 sheep a day he started too do 300/ 400 per day and hung around the main sheep population areas in Hawkes bay province too gat the bigg numbers off sheep/goats/ other that he machine - dagged/ crutched/ shore up till now that Hit about 3 million. He kept hunting the sheep every day from 1993 too get that number .- Last time ahh saw Him was when he blew away a Magpie with a powerfull U.S.A. shotgun because it over- talked my mother on Gwavas B. farm on Highway 50. in 1994 ,- hence why ahh shot upp too hide in Auckland City. and my contact address is as above- Chow - Chow.''
