Thank you for your question. We would typically recommend using a cardboard core in any cases with a rug that has a fragile more pliable foundation. Rugs such as Kilim's are an example. The cardboard core helps give the rug structure and stability when rolled up.

@Bleudejade, great question. Moths won't eat through paper or plastic. Once a rug is wrapped for storage a moth can't get in as long as it is wrapped and secured thoroughly. The important thing before wrapping up a rug for storage is to do everything to ensure there are no moths, eggs or larvae in the rug (thorough vacuuming of the front and back, & professional cleaning / submerged cleaning can help with this). If a moth has laid eggs in a rug and then the rug is wrapped for storage those eggs will hatch and begin to eat the wool.

Thanks for your message. The brown paper is usually called shipping paper or craft paper. Then, the tape is packing tape (really any strong tape that can secure the package will work). You may also be able to find these products online (Amazon). Please let us know if you need more assistance.

Hey, thanks for the comment. You want the rug face down for a few reasons. 1. Due to the pressure placed on the rug, it requires us to tack the rug down, which needs to happen from the back so as not to disrupt the face of the rug. 2. The compound used to size the rug is most effective and better absorbed if directly applied to the back.

Try to roll it up ( into the nap ) and leave it rolled for a few days...this may help it relax and minimize the creases. What type of floor is the rug going on ? Claudia, if you are moving the rug can be rolled and tied with rope for transportation. If the rug will be going into storage you will want to wrap the rug in paper for storage (this allows the rug to breath while also protecting it from potential elements or insects such as moths).

We have ten Persian/Caucasian rugs to move from California to Florida this summer in 7x6x8’ high containers from UPack.. 8x10’, 7x9, and mostly 4x6 or smaller. So your video on how to roll the larger ones was very helpful. I wasn't sure whether to turn the pile toward the inside, or how to fold. Thank you!

@@atiyehbros.8068 thank you for answering. Ten rugs will be put in steel UPack containers and moved cross country. Storage potentially for up to three months in Florida. Then unrolled and laid on the floors of a new home under construction right now.
