    There’s no need for a brick factory owner. I can tell you that from making brick. Get the laborers unionized in making bricks like it’s 1700 and these creeps go away.

  • @KurtisHord
    @KurtisHord 6 месяцев назад

    Yikes! Why not meet with the brick makers At Williamsburg. Or the laborers in the plant

  • @KurtisHord
    @KurtisHord 7 месяцев назад

    Dang if only they were hot mixing lime mortar never leaner than 1:2

    • @KurtisHord
      @KurtisHord 7 месяцев назад

      Got everything right except one thing: the function of the wall and the glue holding all the bricks

    lol following along for ten years! Banished for asking questions about materials…. Mainly the pore structures of weak hydraulic cements

  • @KurtisHord
    @KurtisHord 7 месяцев назад

    Damn he was so close to perfection, but the bag mix…. That mortar just looks like wet sand on the trowel. No plasticity, no steam coming off

    • @KurtisHord
      @KurtisHord 7 месяцев назад

      If it don’t make that steam it ain’t the real thing

    Here we are almost a decade later…. Clay slinked off to Oklahoma to build on a utopian separatist lake community…. No documentary. No methods published for free on the website. Expectation truly is a prison ey?

    Clay: you got everything right except the mortar design. Dang shame. Mortars for this style should be hot mixed and never leaner than 1:2. Most long lasting builds in the old country use washed earth rather than sand, and burned lime. Simple as that. In America you can make hot mixed earth mortar way cheaper than buying bag mixes. The only excuse is….

    When are we going to have heated N cooled brick ....u know like the climate zone pergo....but for brick. O wait brick already does that naturally.

    How would they even “test” a 3wythe wall in their little heat box??? ruclips.net/video/-ewuh5OeD1A/видео.html

      Seriously they don’t even have consensus on methodology.. for r testing this is one of three bullshit methods these idiot engineers “use”.

    This method of building is some of the strangest I have seen . Not sure where you are but great job but there is no 16 in h in center or 24 inch on center studs. Also the platform was built after the walls very strange.

      It is called post and beam - or timberframe - in this case on piers. It is a very old and common framing method that predates the conventional balloon framing that you are familiar with. Post and beam has been used for centuries in all kinds of structures and is often left exposed inside. It is simple, elegant, strong, and durable.

    Great video. Love the cabin..Did you lay those brick piers on the dirt or did you have some concrete poured?

    Brilliant! I just wish masonry homes weren't only for millionaires. The form and function of these homes hits hard.

    so many higher-end details mimic masonry, even setting aside the modern veneer phenomena. Thick walls, arches, vaults, all to convey substance and hide the 2x4 nature of the structure.
