Welcome to my Adventure Motorcycle channel. Here the sport is displayed in real life experiences: riding, camping 🏕 and dealing with the ups and downs of each. I want to capture the natural environment, the challenges, the practical planning that encapsulates ADV riding and inspire others to succeed in creating their own adventure ride.

Sweet! Cheers & warm greetings from 🇨🇭! ✌🏻
Thank you. Warm greetings received here in sunny Florida! 🇺🇸
I'm back again Joe commenting on one of your old videos I just recently like right now heard the poem men who don't fit in Epiphany the title makes more sense excellent title
Thank you for this comment.. I too had heard the poem as I was editing and identifying so much with it, decided to incorporate it into the title. Glad that you made the connection and I wonder how many did. Robert Service nailed ADV!
You inspire me to do something like that
That’s fantastic!
As a sidenote, smaller front sprocket, more aggressive tires and stiffen up the suspension, you'd be suprised how good the Aprilia is on single track...ask. me how I know !
Sounds great. A rear spring and front inspection probably with linear springs too are in the future.
Skoshi sounds Japanese? A little bit 😏
Really enjoy your traveling videos and sharing your expertise and experiences. Curious how you make sure you don't run out of gas on a mountain trail, do you get specific maps for your mountainous travels, and have you had any scary animal encounters?
I do have fore knowledge of most trails or at least distances determined. Butler Maps has Backcountry Discovery Route maps. Check out ridebdr.com for GPX trail tracks and maps. Never had animal issues.
Great freggin video!!!…I’m selling the Harley!!!…
Join the Adventure!
i live in port orford see so many bikes come through i want to ride this trail
It’s an epic moto journey.
Oops, meant to offer congrats on that sweet new bike. I forgot to get back, but I noticed you haven't posted a video for over a month, so I hope all's well.
Thanks for the congrats! I'm working on some new stuff.
@jrdepew Awesome! Stay unfrozen this next week or two!
I’m “chilling “ in Florida.
@@jrdepew 😂 Haha "cool". Enjoy! We got dumped on overnight, looks like the 3-6" Aubs predicted (moderate drifting). 25F this morning, high predicted is 28. The seven day shows highs below and at freezing, and lows in the teens to single digits. 🥶 By Thursday (the inflection point) I may be ready to charter a flight out of this polar hell! Good thing I have a wood stove to sidle up to. Cheers.
Nice bike! Think I’ll be buying one soon. 65 and want to ride a little off pavement while I still can. Thanks for the video
They should get more coverage than they do. I'm liking it.
Well done sir!
Appreciate the kind words. Thanks so much.
Love your videos. But with all due respect faster riders need a Husky 501 or 350 or a KTM 690. A Yamaha WR250R suspension and motor would not be able to handle the faster guys. I use to have a DRz 400 and realized that going at fast speed over tough terrain is not good due to the lack of suspension. I now have a KTM 350 that can handle aggressive riding. The DRZ, Wr250r, CRF etc models are good for new riders or experienced riders just out for a joy ride. Happy Trailing:)
All true. I’m not into speed anymore.. Had the suspension redone and the 250 was a bargain price.
JR! Well spoken - as my wife says... she loves the man who returns from a trip more than than the one that left
She’s a keeper! Thanks for watching.
Not crazy about that smoked windshield. Harder to see obstacles.
I think I would be standing up on some of that stuff. Enjoyed the video.
Awesome. I have a CRF300, and while I agree with your thinking that a small bike is great for the rough stuff I have been considering a middle weight for the highway benefits. My top two choices are the RE 450 ( but not sure this is enough bigger) and my number one is the Tuareg for all the reasons you just outlined! Looking forward to seeing what adventures you get into with this bike and if it should be my choice also!
I’m looking forward to the ride experience myself. Winter is in the way right now.
i need one life to buy my dreams and second to live that means life is sort or people make that dificult
Life is short but an incredible gift in itself. Press on towards your dream.
JR, watched all your newer adventures, but just got around to this one. I live in Texas now (32 years) but grew up in WA on Lake Chelan! Pack wood, Wenatchee, all old places that bring back memories!
That is an old one! I lived in Texas early 80’s. I also lived in Wenatchee late 80’s.
Brilliant video mate...
Thank you for watching!
JR can you send me a message via my channel, i cant find a contact on your channel. We have developed a range of ADV Equipment out here in Australia, currently there is an Ambassador Program available for smaller channels. Nomad Moto feel you would be a good fit.
Thanks for reaching out. I have email contact now available on the channel site.
Merry Christmas and happy new year
Merry Christmas back to you. Thanks.
I currently have an xr650r BRP and I'm 55 I think videos of a BRP doing adventure would be awesome
Go for it. Making YT CONTENT is time and money consuming. Sometimes fun and sometimes another job.
I have road my 2011 KLR in the Flint Hills years and years ago and it's really beautiful right now it's cold
Joe I left a message earlier and you responded something about the Flint Hills Adventure route in Kansas but I left a comment through my RUclips channel which I'm not in control of this is a comment through my personal so then I could actually receive the response I had to get the response read to me by the owner of the channel I don't know if that makes sense you do RUclips it probably does
I've recently watched a lot of your videos and I got to sitting here thinking as I have a RUclips channel to my own this is probably what other people do is just watch the videos and fail to subscribe because I don't really ask for subscribers so in this evening I chose to subscribe to yours thank you for your content I would love to ride with you someday someday I live in Kansas so I feel very little riding
Thank you so much for tuning in to my videos and commenting. There is an area in Kansas called The Flint Hills..There’s a loop trail called Flint Adventure Trail. Has a Facebook page I think. Might give it a look.
Going on 64. Left knee replacement next month. Just bought Africa twin. 2nd adv bike. Found this channel. Right on!
I can recall not all that long ago when those sections from the South Frk Boise all of the way up to Landmark were not burned. We used to ride through beautiful Green forest, now it's just a charred landscape. Sad part ... most of those fires were human caused.
Though I am from the eastern states I have mostly ridden in the west since 2019. Each ride I am amazed and disheartened at the vast territory that is burned.
good video man!
Thank you for commenting. I need the encouragement sometimes. Have a good ☝️ one.
Very nice JR....What mount/case for the Samsung? Thx and safe travels!
www.amazon.com/dp/B09574PZL5?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title Takes some modification with epoxy glue (JBWeld) on the back to accommodate a Quadlock mount securely. It has fallen to the trail while riding once and no damage. Has a silicone cover.
Hey JR, Which satellite phone or messenger are you using and recommend?
The Garmin Mini InReach. It’s the only one I have experience with. Seems to be the most used. Not a sat phone but a text and emergency communication device via satellite.
I'm 61 and went in my first enduro race 50 years ago.... I've always rode smaller bikes, never did understand the allure of the monster 1200cc enduro bike????
Different tools for different jobs for sure, and when it comes to serious offroad the smaller bike makes the most sense to me.
Where is Christ Jesus in this?
Waiting for me at the end of my "last ride".
Did you sell the WR250R?
Oh no! Different tool and I really enjoy it.
Awesome! I'm in the process of rebuilding mine. The piston became disconnected from the crankshaft. It's a great bike, I had a ton of fun over about 30k miles all over the American West BDRs
Whow! I finally got one like yours! That doesn't sound good. Extended warranty for you?
@ I should have! Just out of warranty ( a month) I was going to get the extended warranty and 1 ride later the bike blew up. :/ the new crate engine is about $3,500… I guess it could be worse. Looking forward to getting it running again and back on the road.
You are the tip of the spear on long term use of this platform as far as I’m aware. Following along for sure.
@@PNW.Voyageryou must be very unlucky or bought a semi-lemon, been watching all your vids 😅 hope mine will be ok
I retire this month. I don’t have a lot of experiences. This is educational. I enjoy watching your video!
Enjoy the retirement. Adventure riding is a big part of mine.
I've been looking at this bike since it came out! What are your thoughts on the weight for a solo rider doing BDR type routes? I've been using my KTM 390 Adv for that; it's been great but the Aprilia keeps calling my name LOL
There is a wet weight difference of 70 pounds which is significant. If you can't pick the bike up by yourself Then I wouldn't go solo into remote places. I have picked this bike up without luggage once. It kept calling my name too and I really like it so far and have plans to be solo on it alot next summer.
@@jrdepew I'll try one. I can easily pick up the 390, but 70lbs is indeed not insignificant.
I’ll add that the Tuareg Carrie’s it’s weight lowers than is typical due to the fuel tank design. This aids picking up.
@@jrdepew That's what I was thinking as well. It may not feel like a full 70lbs.
Great video! Really enjoyed it. Your advice is well thought out and taught me a few things! How can I get in contact with you?
DM me on MESSENGER OR JRDEPEW777@GMAIL.COM
This would be your most important concern on your new bike; ruclips.net/video/rZ4xqN0xVX0/видео.htmlsi=2P1ZuUYocHhn8R02. It only costs you some fork oil to check. Peace brother!
Yeah, i am aware and forgot to mention it in the video. Thanks.
Just another video you may use for research on some of the fixes for the Tuareg. ruclips.net/video/hAF9MVyGSwc/видео.htmlsi=uzsgcxJ82AGoGYu5 Don't get me wrong i like the Tuareg. I think it is the best middle weight out of the box, but it's not perfect and we all know that our bikes need to be functional and then we customize them to our individual tastes. Enjoy!
Great review from experience. I had watched this in the past. Thanks.
Wow! Congrats on your new motorcycle. The Tuareg is an upgrade from the DR and WR. Cheers
Thanks, I'm digging it!
Top three requirements for an adventure bike are reliability, reliability, and reliability - in that order.
Yeah, I hear you. Reliability is huge.
Great video. I will have to look into the Tuareg 660 for my next Adventure bike. I had a 23 Triumph 1200 GT Explorer before my 24 CRF450RL which I have now. I still want another bike for riding the gravel and pavement. The Honda is mainly used for trail riding.
It is a great bike. I've been having a lot of fun.
A nice set of features, for sure. Features-wise, a nice upgrade from the DR650. Hope you enjoy it.
It is a good upgrade, that's for sure.
That red clay when wet is a high pucker factor for sure. I was in the market for a T7 but never could find one, ended up buying a KTM 890 and I am very happy I couldnt find a T7. Love the video. Youve earned a new subscriber.
Glad you found something that works for you!
Congrats Depew! The Aprilia is at the top of my new bike list. I’m excited to see your future videos aboard the 660. 🙏🏻
It's a sweet ride!
JR, I’m 75 and been riding a BMW 1200GS and Husqvarna 701. I’ve been looking hard at the 450-500 range of bikes but in the end I’m lowering my 701 a bit so I’m more stable. My BMW is too heavy for me now and it’s time to move on. I did manage to put 100,000 miles on it.
Lot of miles and experiences right there!
One of the nicest looking tail sections on a factory bike.
Yeah, I’m digging the look as well.
JR spot on your opinion on riding 250’s on the HWY. Although they are great on the trail. But adventure riding its usually a combination of both. At your experience and skill level you probably won’t even notice much difference while moving. They all weight 0 underway. I’am 4 years older than you and may downsize later myself. When I can’t pick it up that’s when I will move on down a little. I figure about 82 that will about do it. Cruise control it’s great. I had to eat some crow on that one. Loved your last video’s. Great job. Looking forward to more video’s. Take care my utube riding friend. 🤩
Thanks for the feedback. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon!
Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Good choice and a beautiful color scheme - the best, I think. I have a 2003 Aprilia Caponord ETV1000, so the big brother to the Tuareg. It's decidedly heavier and top heavy with the tank set high. Too bad because the Rotax v-twin is a fine motor. I wouldn't want to take it on anything more difficult than what you rode today.
Thanks, It’s a sweet bike.
