Cool video! I really like my Backwoods Bungalow 2.0 and if you use all the tie outs you actually need 15 stakes. I use the ground sheet with mine so 4 more stakes for it! LOL! God bless.
I love you too 😘
Always nice to see your videos, man. You’re not pushing some agenda or going for “the subs, likes, shares, and comments” If i run in to you out on the trail someday, I’m gonna say “hey!” Take it easy!
Thanks bro. Hope you are doing well.
Nice! Beautiful scenery as well.
Thanks you sir.
I envy you for being with David Canterbury; unfortunately, it's too far away for me. But it was surely an amazing experience.
A hatchet is better for cold weather. It has more metal and a softer Rockwell to battle breaking. Best to keep your knife warm to prevent breakage. That's one of my bug out knives. Bk 9 is a must have. Junglas or Junglas 2 is another one. All these knives are @ss wupin knives
Nice work, dude 🙌🏻 🇺🇸
waving the flag doesn't make you a patriot.
Thank you for your comment. It only helps my video recirculate into the YT algorithm.
Happy memorial day to all the veterans
God Bless all our service members who are serving and who have served!!! And many prayers for those who lost their lives for this country!!!! We are forever thankful and in your debt!!!
That was very cool. God bless you for remembering your brothers. Happy memorial day
Thank you.
Blessings my friend from Ochoco Bushcraft!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇲
Thank you sir. Keep up with the great videos.
Much admiration!
I love the patina on your bk9. It looks like a true stone wash finish. I too prefer my bk9 over a hatchet or any other big knife. I suppose because it's a lot lighter. Aside from having it in a kydex sheath, I keep mine stock. I keep a mini sirvival kit inside the Zytel handles. I got fishing line, hook, keyring, 13 match sticks & 2 striking pads, all plastic wrapped inside the handle for emergency purposes. I might modify the scales one day but I like how light the knife is just the way it is.
My knife doesn’t identify as a axe!😂😂😂😂😂
I believe it all comes down to location. Full kit to me is overkill regardless of where you live. I live in rural Appalachia, it’s common place to see people in camo, I never dress in full camo myself but I may wear bdu shirt and in warm weather I wear camo pants. Here nobody pays attention to that. But lots of times I’m just wearing plan clothes but I keep a camo or od jacket in my vehicle. I do lots of hiking and exploring so I keep a small bag for that in my vehicle. Also my edc items in a pouch on my belt. I believe it’s important to keep supplies in your vehicle in case you stranded , and comfortable walking shoes
good stuff man
🤘
I feel like we all should be doing deeper analyses of our AOs, or our community, as you are suggesting. You could conduct deeper study (never leaving your house) by visiting your town/city’s GIS Department online…attending local emergency preparedness activities as a family, etc. These community events often give me and my family new ideas that may make our approach to ‘the unfortunate unplanned event’…teaching our kids situational awareness is or should be a dad’s priority. Appreciated the laid back approach to this one, brother. Population density and make up of your local subdivision tells me straight away that the small game would be gone quite quickly in an extended unforeseen occurrence…lol
No reason to not be able to do both depending on various situations.
Absolutely. I don't feel it works in my situation, is all.
Polymer irons hurt my soul. Mbus pro! Sometimes i switch off the dot and use the irons only. Eyes are getting older but still hitting at 300m pretty easy.
We’re on the same wavelength man. There’s an unofficial orthodoxy in this sphere, and it’s pushed by loud voices with lots of money. So they push multi optic suites, high end brands, and plates and all the supporting products around that stuff for several reasons; primarily commercialism and appeasing sponsorships, and some of it is the big names around here trying to affirm their own biases, individual purchases and investments, and their own LARP. I’m about 10 years or so younger than you I figure, and served after the surge. All I knew was the ACOG and unnecessarily heavy gear. I think people miss the fact that Plate armor really only became ethical for a force that moves largely on wheels, with lots of support. Forget 80 lbs or more in TA50 for someone who’s going to be running and hiding in the woods indefinitely. So, After my time, I came to appreciate simple gear, simple guns, and affordable options at a much lighter weight. I still bought some of the “stuff”, just to have it, but I don’t think I’ll be bringing my plates and a 15ounce LPVO to the end of the world 🫡
“It’s what I trained on for years” All I needed to hear… There’s trade-offs in everything, and this definitely holds true for sighting systems 👍🏻
love your dedication to your faith.. cheers!
No light? not criticizing, just interested in your philosophy, cheers!
I had a tac light for 3 tours and never once needed to use it even in darkness. If the time comes, I need one. I'll get one. Until then, I'll improvise.
@@Swish82 im assuming you just used nods for pid?
@@TheForgeUniversity sign and countersign works also.
@TheForgeUniversity I also wear a Headlamp at night.
We always used iron sights in the jungle, they don't fog up with the humidty and rain like optical sights do.
Iron Sights mate!
1:10 Your actually CORRECT brother. I be playing the Video Game MISSING with Optic Irons I'm LASER! Even Real Life 😂😂😂😂😂
Great Name. Keep Grinding #dressed2kill Certified 🪖🥾🥾
Hey man if it works for you that’s cool, but you’re living in the past
Tradition frees you from the slavery of novelties.
A well made optic is not a novelty friend
@kellykrueger1822 like you said, if it works for you.
Irons dont fog up or take batteries
Use what works for you
I have found irons to be lacking when in low light (even with tritium). Though XS Big Dots with an AK and tritium work the best, in my experience, of all the iron sight options. They don't intercept as much light from the target area. I have found irons to be functional on highly dynamic targets. I think where optics are better is in shoot/no shoot situations where I need a lot of context from the area to decide whether to take the shot or not. With irons, I have opted not to take shots that I might(?) have taken with a RDS if one had been available. Just because the sight picture is cluttered and I couldn't sort out the shit going on. Not fast enough, anyway. Just my current thoughts based on my current experience.
Yeah irons are mandatory. 2 is one. But I like the sig Romeo 5. Works well. Doesn't loose zero. And he Romeo 5 is literally cheaper than iron sights now. All the iron sights I see cost more than the romeo 5. So I bought some Amazon Chinese irons that work perfectly so I could save for the Romeo 5. I'd rather be able to pick anybody's weapon up and be able to use it. I'd rather not be untrained on red dots or optics.
68 soon! Once upon a time I had good vision too! Live long enough and you will know the true value of optics.
After being away from shooting any type of firearms for almost 30 years I’ve recently got back to into it. Been trying to figure out how I would have my rifle set up and such and I’ll say this, because I am older, optics do work for me. I think when I talk to people they always have this imagination like we’re gonna be in this close up shooting scenario and that’s just not true. you want to take cover as much as possible, create distance. So when people are concealing themselves you’re gonna need to take a more precise shot if that’s the case, optics help, but I agree, know how to use your irons for when that optic goes down and believe me even the good ones go down.
I've seen people hit 600 yards with a bipod laying down with little peep hole iron sights
What size target? Because a standard 18x24 target is 3moa by 4moa at 600 yards. Which is not usually a "bragging" sized group. If the target is 6 inches, that is impressive at 600 yards. I can't see that with my eyeball. But I can with a magnifed optic. Everyone is different though.
still watching your video, YES woodland, works for me also. Lots of time in the woods for me walking the dog. For me, hunting, the red dot did not cut it at post sunset, thus my hunting rifles have basic non variable scopes; 4x32 4x44 4x40, 6x40. I have 3x and 4x prism optics that illuminate and they are great, and heavy compared to the basic fixed power scope. Practice both eyes open when shooting. For me , I do this out to the 200 yard berm no problem. My last deer, 98 measured yards, both eyes open, no problem. Bolt guns, AR'S, lever guns.
interesting that your video popped up for recommended. Just subscribed, thanks. All my AR's have optics because they are slick tops. I thought 'lets go old school'. Why, because I am Very comfortable with iron sights. Inside 200 yards. Super fast for me, accurate enough for me etc. SO, that is why your video really appealed to me. To continue, range time, move and shoot, then strolling my hunting grounds I found I Really appreciated the simplicity of the iron sights!
Keeping it simple. The exchange is more practice and situational awareness. 👍
Damnit! I didn't think about the alien space monkeys! 🤦♂️
Nobody ever does.
For most situations I think Iron sights are gonna do just fine, however that being said I do prefer them to be fixed, trim, and tool less especially.
I feel the same way. Just subcribed! 🥃🍻🪂😁👍🏻🏴☠️🇺🇸
