How to do belts 1FZFE

Short video of how to replace belts on the 1FZFE 80s series. Once you have loosened the two rod bolts at the alternator and under the aircon compressor as shown in the vid (they very slowly loosen and tighten due to the long bolt)you will have enough slack to remove the belts. Really easy. In fact you don't even need to remove the fan you can just slowly work the belt over the fan blades and on...

I have the lx450 with a humming sound using the factory amp . In the lx450 you have to plug the harness into the 2 gray connections he unhooked from the amp at 8:49 . You have to run a 2 foot of wire for every wire on the other end of the harness and feed it into the back of the radio . Bypassing the amp got rid of the humming sound .
Toyota really screwed up with this engine. I'm glad they replaced it
Excellent video! Thank you for posting. I have a 1990 HDJ81 RHD here in the US. It has an old “carrozzeria” (pioneer) CD stereo from Japan in it. Limited radio stations. I need to swap everything out. This video was very beneficial.
Definitely will give this a go, thanks mate. By the way, which spot would you recommend as a "good" earthing?
Could this be causing a stall when I do a hard acceleration? When normally accelerate no problem, I have the ticking noise only when doing a cold start
Yes it typically lessens as the engine warms up. A stall? Probably not.
I have Installed this system in my Pajaro and it works great. However, if I have the override switched to off, which is what is recommended, then my console fridge does not stay on if the car is not on. I had thought that the fridge would stay on and charge off the auxiliary battery. But this is not what happens. What have I got wrong
you need to have your fridge connected directly to your auxiliary battery
I think I’ve got a slight crack on mine as I have a noticeable ticking at startup that goes away after about a minute once the manifolds get hot. What’s the risk of not addressing this?
Po420 or po430 ruining you catalytic converter
Great narration mate, I heard every thing I need to do, but please film in wide screen. So much black I couldn’t see anything.
if you plug up a shop vac to your exhaust tips and set it to pull air out it will pull the crc down into any leaks. Works like a charm.
If u plug up ur rail pipe with shop rags it works better than what I said lol
My manifold are turning kind of white what can be the problem?
Zinc when exposed to hydrogen and oxygen so its just a form of rust
this was great!
I think my LH exhaust manifold needs to replaced. I thought it would be only the gasket though..
Great content Definitely a great detailed video & yes you’re spot on !!!! Thank you
What are the part numbers for the banjo bolts?
its in the video, he holds the package up and you can see them
All these years later, and you are still a life saver. That pesky factory amp becomes a fire hazard as it degrades. When replacing the HU, it sent 12volts to a door speaker and smoked the inside of my truck. My mechanic traced the phantom load to that amp and disconnected one of the connectors that was sending out the voltage. There were still electrical gremlins lurking and when I disconnected the second connector, it all seems fine now. Thanks for your great video!
how to try to avoid this crack?
Nothing it’s inevitable
Doug Thorley headers. Expensive but: buy once, cry once. and it's fixed.
@@Anomic-mo9jilots of people say the DT are not well made wish there was another company making headers
TIMING BELTS ARE A WEAKNESS AS WELL
not really, it’s maintenance on anything with a belt
Fried my head unit, probably because I didnt unplug my factory amp
Thank you! Lovely video mate
Thanks for the vid mate. Very helpful
Funny, just bought my 80 last year, my exhaust bolts & nuts where like spark plug value torqued, which is funny not, I went round and checked every fastener on this rig, the bloody steering arm nuts at swivel hubs where finger tight, and all others were below spec, only things overnight was them rattle gun fitted wheel nuts, nightmare material indeed, great rigs, this is my 2nd, had to give no.1 to the divorce legal team, argh that’s life
Very usefully information, unfortunately the picture are not very clear, bit dark, I'm much appreciated if you could put some lighting, and repeat the video, thank you
Is it better to get it fixed
thanks for this revelation
Did you have to change any power steering lines? or bend any AC lines to fit the grunt bracket?
isn’t the factory amp in the boot with the factory subwoofer?
Sorry for the delayed reply all, it did hold up for many months and i ended up replacing with headers and exhaust anyway so not sure how long it would have held up if i had left it
how do you like the headers ?
@@RingerRacing and now we wait.. haha
@@hatredcopter1592 you dont like them? wait for what?
i was just making a joke, dude took 5 years to reply to the first questions.
@hatredcopter1592 no good at all.
There's a hole in the bash plate specifically to access that pulley
I guarantee this didn’t work, best luck I had was some high heat stuff from JB weld that only held up a few days or so. There’s too much expansion and cooling for anything like this to work. I even cleaned it up real good and brazed it with brazing rod, which held up the longest. needless to say I’ll be changing out both manifolds soon.
Great video. Where can I found this cement ?
Check the junk drawer.
So if you plug the aftermarket wiring harness between the head unit to the original Toyota plugs (grey) as needed, and simply unplug the (grey) plugs on the OEM Amp, that by-passes it?
Why? Just run new speaker wires. I did a DVD in a 2006 civic ex coupe! The only harness I needed was for the antenna. Also a dash kit! I took the constant power from my old radio also the acc wire.
Did this cause any sludge in radiator mate?
too bad this guy did not update
Did it work lol??
Hi thanks for video, just one thing your tensioner, shouldnt the belt run over it instead of under it?
I will be trying this on our 2UZ-FE later this week. We have a hairline crack that ticks until it’s warms up. Aside from moving the airbox what else did you have to move to access the manifolds?
Did it work for you? I have the same problem and I'm about to ghetto rig it with this toothpaste patch
Charlie Hustle no. I just haven’t had time to take it all apart to get in to patch it up. It’s a bit of a squeeze and the darn heat shield are a huge pain to get off. I’m just living with the ticking for now.
@@telecasterman18 ok gotcha. Thanks for replying
@@charliehustle2579 Mine ticks too but stops when it heats up / heat expansion. The best cheap fix I've found is furnace cement and header wrap, held down with wire.
What kit do you use?
Mate, can you link the parts?
Has it held up?
Excellent explanation on how to change the radiator .
what is the part number for the other connector you use? NOT THE TAO2B.
Bruh! Did it work? Has it held up?
Thanks for the video, very helpful.
Video is just "I did this and hopefully it works..." Did it work???
You are talking too much and not enough info
You’re kidding right? Loads of information
I understand the filter is in tough spot, especially from one side, but your arm is blocking the most critical part of the video.
@@raym6415 ask for a refund. Ripped off!
just remember he's in australia so drivers side vs passenger side is different...
Yes.... LH vs RH
Great video
A mechanics stethoscope would help to pin point the leak.
Thanks for your video I have 1994 land cruiser. How do you tighten alternator belt? Thanks again 👍🏻😊
just undo the close hamp .HaHa
