What I Learned From This 6 Month Project!
Within this episode,
I dissect my mistakes from the 6 month project and provide all the tips and tricks that I've learned throughout the journey.
At the end of the video, there is also a short cinematic video that my friend @spamsubie filmed, and I used his raw footage, color graded, and put them all together for you guys to see! By the way, he also offers his raw footage on his Patreon, which you may check out at the bottom of the description.
One thing I did forget to mention is how I cut the rear quarter panel wrap a little too short, and you can see bits of the primered surface when you look close at the wheel well, especially at 12:48. Other than that, everything seems to be generally ...

What kind of primer did you use and did you wet sand after primer
Loved the wheel reaction lol
I own a '97 Z3 in red and absolutely love it! These cars are amazing and so much fun to drive. Love the video and look forward to seeing more. Keep up the great work! Car looks amazing
Thank you :) Hoping to return in 2025!
Love the wheels! I have the same wheel on my m3!
Can't go wrong with the LM's!
omg daddy
Beautiful car. Do you mind sharing the specs for your wheel setup? Wheel size, tire size, offset etc?
My fronts are: Wheel Spec - 18x9 +31 (2.0" Outer Lip) [LM071] Tire Size - 245/35/18 My rears are: Wheel Spec - 18x11 +11 (4.0" Outer Lip) [LM068] Tire Size - 295/30/18

What exhaust is that? Headers? Etc?
Quite literally just removed the mufflers. Currently looking to get an axle back now lol
Wow… watching someone drive is also therapy! What song is that?
Im having trouble finding a mid wing with a wiper blad cutout. Can he point me in there right direction?
The link in the description of the video links to the midwing, you have the option to order one with or without the cutout. However, the quality of their parts isn't the best and I'd probably just message this guy named Cemal who reproduces parts for the Z3 M Coupe. Purchasing through him will probably be sketchy, but I and many others can vouch for his credibility along with the quality of his parts when it comes to fitment. instagram.com/tripfcr/ facebook.com/cemal.akcal
So glad I found this series. You are doing such an awesome job. Can't believe the amount of time and dedication it takes to take on a project like this. I did the same thing to mine years back having bought it used and needing some TLC. Its about time for another light restore on mine. Would you mind sharing where you got the front lips. I know AC Schnitzer made them before but haven't been able to find them. Thanks in advance
I would love to see yours!! I got the front lip from a man by the name of Cemal Akcal. His instagram is @tripfcr. He’s a guy in Turkey who makes pretty quality good replicas / reproduction parts for the M Coupes. Paying him might be a little sketchy, but I, and many others, can vouch for him!
Really like those muffler tips. Would you mind sharing more info on those?
The muffler tips were from a generic catalogue at a muffler shop. Nothing too special. I just chose one that closely resembled the DTM exhaust tips haha
@@thoas_ nice! I appreciate that. I just started my project. Swapping out the s52 for an s62 and the getrag 6 speed trans. Need to mock up some designs for the exhaust. I was thinking of doing side skirt outlets like the g wagon but unsure of ground clearance. I really like your set up.
Best opening. The M coupe sideways in your garage when the door went up…….oh man.
Did you need custom coilovers in order to fit these wheels and tires?
Currently running Ground Control Coilovers to get the desired ride height. From what I've heard, some coilovers may give you more or less room to work with on the front. I had a conversation with another shoe owner who mentioned that I probably could not have ran my front wheels if I had KW's vs my Ground Controls.
Dude! I just watched all of your project videos. Way to go!!! Such a satisfaction listening to young man not saying word “like” every 2 seconds😂. And thank you for not playing ghetto music on the background. You give me confidence to start working on my s*it box. Be safe;)
Thank you man! :)
I've got a silver smurfhearse but I love this color....I get conflicting answers but is paint/bodywork safe with wraps?
If you're referring to paint/bodywork that is not original, then I'd say it's very dependent on the prep work that was done / the quality of work for the bodywork and paint. I've heard a lot of people say that you can't wrap over primer, but as you can tell through the video, I quite literally did just that. If the bodywork/paint was done poorly, then probably not. If it was done properly / well, then you should have no issues.
What is the tire size of the front wheel?
The tire size for the front wheel is 245/35/18!
What exhausted system?? I just got an m coupe.
Absolutely beautiful. My big regret is selling my 2001 Z3 Coupe in 2015.
Love it
Beautiful car indeed! Cant wait to work on my z3 😅
What mods do you have? Headers? Exhaust? Love the sound. I have a z3 with the 3.0 engine that’s completely stock that I wanna start updating.
I thought it was Frankenstein car. Cool
Soo entertainnent your vid,gdjoß...by the way,is it possible me get one unit ? Hiw csn be...me wait your good info...ßroo 🙏😎🥳
Are you selling the other front M bumper? And is the mid wing oem or aftermarket?
The old front bumper has already left my possession to a friend! As for the mid wing, it is a replica of the OEM wing
Pretty damn cool. Props!
Thank you!!
You’re making making me lust after BBS LMs for my M like it’s 2005 again.
BBS LM's and M cars are just meant to be together!! 😉
Ayo right in my backyard bro?? Thats crazyy love my live oak drives
Beemer all the Way 💪 SaTX
LIVE OAK???😂
its the first time I saw a RUclips Project on a BMW Z3. You did A good job man I just watched 16 videos in 3 days. Loved that serie of videos. Very good quality and you help me a lot I wanna wrap my car in maybe 1 year so I start to look on RUclips to get some information, you saved me a lot of time ! very cool dude keep it up !
Thank you!! Wishing you the best of luck when you decide to start wrapping man :)
Just found your channel. car is wild
Thank you, it is only the beginning!! haha
Fucking SICKKKK
Love you boo thang
love the view of the rear of that coupe
It’s the best part!!
@@thoas_ few cars where the back looks better than the front
This thing is HAWT
Thank you father 🫶
bro i wish i had the vision u have for ur car, like im not sure what route to take for my z4, love the build.
Thank you!! It takes time. Once you get the general idea of where you want to head and figure out the route best suited for your situation, just FULL SEND IT BROTHER. I followed quite a few other people who had the same car as me for inspiration and I eventually just decided to full send it once I figured out what I wanted!
very nice concept to do some very compressed video, im liking it dude !
Thank you so much!! :) This gives me motivation to continue haha
Yeah yeah whatever what car are we ripping apart next huh
YOUR S13
@@thoas_ man not again im not due for that for at LEAST a couple years
You should take this to LA’s bimmer invasion next year
I need the details! I've been living under a rock ever since this project started 😂
Good recap! Inozetek has been well known to be difficult to apply and apply well. I have it on one of my cars done by an experienced shop and it's a pretty darn good result but after some time, similar to you, the film wants to come up from tucked areas because it just wants to be flat. The microscratching on it drives me a bit nuts too... At the end of the day good learning experiences and just have fun with things!
Yessir!! I still believe it was due to me not post heating properly or enough on those crevices where I tucked the material into. In theory, it should lose its memory if I were to post heat it to a high enough temperature without burning the material, but I do agree with the micro scratching! haha
@@thoas_ yeah it certainly seems to have a better memory than I do by a long shot even when set ablaze...but like most people really like the outcome and generally think its painted! Good enough.
Great video. Looks sooooo good. Did you have an airbag light come on due to the aftermarket steering wheel?
That's a great question, I don't recall if it was there when I got the car, but when I tried to check to see if I can clear it, there were like 3 other codes that was causing the airbag light to come on, so I'd need to sort out all those codes in the future LOL
Not the “seam-innnnn”😭😭😭🤣🤣 great video bro! Keep up the solid work. Khaki green clown shoe ftw😎🤝🏽
Also, the wrap job looks frickin insane😳👌🏽 nice ass diy
Yours alike brother!! I appreciate you 🫶💚🥹
A kind request i hope to be fulfilled! Pls post a video of the complete build so I can get some inspiration to build mine! Hope you will post one soon.
Gotchu! I'll do a full breakdown of everything that has been done to it so far for the next video! :)
That first glimpse of the car dropping on the new rims !!! 😅Insanely Nice 👍 bro 😎
Glad you liked it!! haha
Just found this channel! Love the project and style of videos!
Thank you so much!! I shall be releasing a new video within the next few days! :)
Wheel fitment is perfect. Nice job on the specs!
Thank you!! I think the rear should use a 2 or 5mm spacers, but for the time being it is quite functional!
What kind of wheels are those? I wrapped my roadster and it looked good in the garage but once it sat in the sun the wrap started to peel and lift in some areas. Hopefully that primer underneath is holding up.
The wheels are BBS LM, brushed clear faces, polished lips, with a double step lip! Front: 18x9 +31 (2.0" Outer Lip) [LM071] (245/35/18) Rear: 18x11 +11 (4.0" Outer Lip) [LM068] (295/30/18) So far the wrap is holding up quite well, it’s important to post heat it after you’re done to make sure it loses it memory, or to check if it’s laid on well enough that it’ll stay on as time goes on. I’m planning on making a video talking about my honest review of the build, and what I’ve learned / what I did wrong, over this upcoming weekend!
@@thoas_ sweet appreciate you sharing those specs. Look forward to the upcoming video!
Well executed coup project. This video has pushed me to begin looking for a m coupe of my own. That was a cinematic moment when you put the first wheel on the coupe. Can't wait to see more videos.great job.
