My wife and her family are all from Soledad. Its not that bad No dar papaya
Never got to spend any time there, but I know a couple of people who live there.
Eddie On The Go!
Yassss, Senator!
Love the classic car edits as well
That was a cool thing to wake up to, so I had to go check it out. I had to go see if the hotel parking garage was opened up yet to start loading our stuff into first. I also wanted to check out Camera Obscura, too bad they’ve been closed since Covid.
LOVING all of the music happening -
I think I like street musicians as much as murals. I love getting to record street musicians to include in my videos. I wish I’d had cards on me to give them so they could see themselves if they wanted because I usually do that. The Robert Vargas EVH mural behind Guitar Center Hollywood was a must see. I’ve chatted with Robert Vargas on his instagram before. One of these days I need to buy one of his shirts since we have the same last name.
Just a note focus on a lot of things said by Chinedu (thank you both for the video) - "What this Latina Woman said about black men ? - Medellin Colombia a Dating Jungle" YTube video by Kari HQ ...thought you and Chinedu...might be interested ...I also saw very interesting videos on RUclips about Quibdo Choco ...some interesting people men and women interviewed (I wasn't impressed with the area) but these African-Colombian women were not looking for a white man...Every story we tell ourselves and others is incomplete in one way or another. I'm an African American woman and lived in Thailand for 10 years ...witnessed the trophy baby phenomena there and of course in the United States as well. First read about this, in Frantz Fanon' "Wretched of the Earth". I believe your recounting of your experiences but I also believe there are women in Colombia, Black, Latina and others who would treasure a loving caring black man like Chinedu. I'm currently doing my research for a move to Colombia. My work is digital but I'm really a retired woman living in Florida (Maybe your mother's age) or I should say trying to be retired. I'll probably move to Barranquilla for several months to see if it is the right place for me. I'll be researching for another 9 months or so but may visit sooner. At the moment I don't speak Spanish so this along with continued research is what I'm up to. Would love to meet you guys if the opportunity presents itself.
Thanks for the record breaking comment! It sounds like you’ve had some excellent experiences. Chinedu is still there, but I’m back stateside. I miss Barranquilla and the people there a lot (but we stay in touch through Instagram and Facebook) and hope to go back soon. I’m in a relationship since a year ago, so we’ve only been traveling here in California until the economic improves. I’m disabled/retired early and trying to do as much as possible while I can. I still have some catching up to what my parents and grandparents did. On the subject of Spanish: my skills are limited, and Barranquilla was difficult because of the accent and Costeño dialect (my friend’s Dominican-born girlfriend warned me in advance). The many times I met people from Medellin there in ‘Quilla I was actually able to speak Spanish. Most times they were Uber drivers, but I stayed with an Airbnb host who was from Medellin, and she and her son and daughter (who are both digital nomads in Argentina) speak English- and also their father’s language of German. Aside from the language struggles (Google translate helped a lot), I loved the people and the non-touristy nature of Barranquilla. It was quite an enjoyable 3 months, and I didn’t want to leave. Hope you enjoy it too if you decide to spend time there. Thanks for watching!
This was great! Your editing and commentary was top notch! "Telemundo Narco show" 😅 Love the history that you invoked about these beach communities. I'll have to tell you a funny story when we were in Huntington Beach a few years back 🤣Well done! 👏👏
I appreciate that. And that’s literally what those houses look like- Mexican mansions.
👏👏
Yasss.
Fun video, Eddie! Yeah, the bricks at the Rainbow Bar & Grill were really cool. Also, what a great find in the Goth Airbnb!
Yes it was! Almost wish we stayed longer. We’ll be back.
Eddie very nice Airbnb indeed. Downtown LA is insane these days. I was there last in December 2021. The Rainbow Bar & Grill is so awesome. Keep exploring Eddie ole boy.
Gracias, hermano. Yeah DTLA has only gotten worse since then. Maybe I’ll get to Medellin in the next couple of years… if the damn economy gets any better.
👏 👏
Next stop: Santa Monica!
Was the sand too hot for ZZ?? Anyhoo, nice video. Downtown Ventura looked like a cool little spot. Looks like you had the whole downtown, along with the beach, to yourself. 🥤
The beach we mostly had to ourselves was in Oxnard. I think Zizi was just freaking out because she was out of her element.
Fun video, Ed! Yeah, I am not familiar with the YC Cheng Park in SLO. Of course, it's been a few years since we've been. 🥤
It’s been there for a while but I guess we finally went down the right street to stumble upon Cheng Park. I ran across comments mentioning problems with homeless there, but the city must have cleaned things up since they were posted on that website.
Is the weather perfect each and every day out there?
Almost every day.
@@eddieonthegotravel Well...on the bad days...I suspect you have a plan that involves a breeze or a view. Never let a day go to waste.
Beautiful area!
It really is! We want to spend more than a day next time. And actually spend time in Santa Barbara which was unfortunate limited to a coffee stop.
Great job as always!!! My neck of the woods...kinda....you ever come out here again, travel up HWY 9 and you can see the castle, the bigfoot museum (Maybe no sure if its still open), the Weissmuller home, Brookdale lodge, and downtown Boulder Creek....
Thanks, man! Always more to explore even after going beyond the surface. I’d had never known about the Buddhist retreat center had my friend not told me about it a few years ago.
Me and my family went there every summer when I was a kid.
I remember going to visit my dad’s uncle and aunt there when I was a kid. Later they sold that house and moved to the valley.
Man, it's been some time since we've been to Santa Cruz. We did stay once at the Dream Inn, and spent most of our time in Capitola. Looks like the waterfront there at Zelda's has come back a bit, from the devastating flooding? Glad you got an opportunity to visit Cambria. Love that little town. Fun trip! Looking forward to the next videos. Cheers 🥤
Zelda’s is looking good. All the little coastal towns have something going for them. In the next video, we discovered something we’d never seen before in downtown SLO that you might be familiar with. Stay tuned.
@@eddieonthegotravel ahh. Nice.
13:53 What a lunchtime view that was !
Hard to get a bad view anywhere on the coast. More to come, brother!
loving this. going in a couple weeks.
Enjoy!
I love this interview very informative..I was thinking about move to Barranquilla as vet expat. But I might reconsider and visit Cali Colombia
Chinedu is talking about moving to Cali for some of the same reasons you probably have in mind. I’m glad you find some value in it. That’s what we were hoping for. As much as I love Barranquilla personally I found it a bit disturbing even as a white hispanic the time he came to meet me at my apartment for a walk and I saw and felt the reaction of the doorman and the other man who was with him. It was as if he was being regarded as bad person and I’m sure you know what I mean. Thanks for watching and commenting.
L❤️VE THIS EDDIE & ESPECIALLY HALF MOON BAY. GREAT JOB! 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
Oh, wow. You guys just went for the day. I thought you were spending the weekend. Yeah, it's tough to see everything, but you did pack in a lot! Love that you went to one of our favorite beaches, Pescadero State Beach. Yeah, Nasturtium is Patti's favorite little shop! We're the playing Ted Nugent this time?? They were when we were last in 😂
Ha! I don’t even remember, it was too warm for me to be in there for long. Result of having had heat related illness before.
I love Alhambra road also. Didn't know that was the name of that stretch. Just beautiful. Thank you so much for a trip to the beach!... that flower growing out of the rock near the water caught my eye. Hopeful.
It’s “La Honda” Road. I wish we had the weekend there. Day trips are never enough.
@@eddieonthegotravel oh! Ty!
Someone is having fun!
I try!
BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY. I LIVE IN MIAMI AND SORRY TO SAY BUT MIAMI HAS NOTHING ON PANAMA.
My favorite weather is Hot , so Boquete may not be for me . also , moving to another Country to hang out with other expats defeats the purpose of Travel . Learning Languages in a different Culture is more exciting to me .
And we have been there this year already. Got a "cabin" with the fam as our Navy son and girlfriend visited. Was just after Spring Break, so it was quiet! 🥤
Yeah visiting Tahoe has become all about timing anymore, and yeah advance paid booking might help a lot.
Our favorite attraction is definitely, Sand Harbor. You were not far from there from your opening footage, but it's impossible to get in there during the Summer. That's actually my next video, about Sand Harbor. My past video there has done well, and now that reservations are needed, it should be helpful. Do love the Tahoe area, I mean, who doesn't, but it can be quite challenging and we always reserve our time there for the Fall when the weather is still nice. Lower prices, and less people.
Yeah I know. We already knew the parking lot was full, but I saw a sign from the trail for cars saying as such.
WOW! Great Video! May I ask what it is like on Terceira if you are not a car driver? Have you been able to see how the bus networks are developed? Is it possible to experience the sights or hikes without a car?
I walked a lot or used a driver. If I had access to a bike I would have ridden a lot, but on this trip I was with relatives and we had a dedicated tour driver. The only exception was once when I used a taxi.
Another fun video, Eddie! Great footage. Man, you were right there with the seals and sea lions 😮Love this region. Thanks! 🥤
Glad you enjoyed it!
One of my favorite areas and drives in the state. Ty!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the feedback! Coming in September we’re doing a (mostly) coastal drive series, probably from Ft. Bragg down to San Diego.
@@eddieonthegotravel can't wait!
Just beautiful! I love visiting California's missions. Everywhere I roam. Ty for this.
Glad you enjoyed it. I’m going to have to link this one to the other mission video I have done so far.
That was a fun tour! You guys covered some ground! Great music, too. Cheers! 🥤
Glad you enjoyed it! We REALLY cover some ground in the next one, which will have an offshoot video for obvious reasons. For Hope’ sabbatical in the fall we plan to do a coastal run starting in the north down to San Diego instead of the original plan to go back east. That should be interesting, plus I haven’t been to SD since my Who Wants to Be a Millionaire “audition” in the early ’00s.
@@eddieonthegotravel Well, I "may" or "may not" have some recommended beaches along the Central Coast to hit up 😂 I chronicled, what I thought was interesting, where the topography and climate of California beaches "changes" from NorCal to SoCal. Where exactly is that point. I have an idea.
You had me at Dennis the Menace playground! As I mentioned in the previous video, I grew up in the region. Every time we visited, my grandfather would take me to Dennis the Menace Playground. I'd play there for hours! Yes, and the 17-mile drive. My grandparents lived about 3/4 of a mile within the PG gate. We always had a placard on the front of our car. Never had to pay! Played Spyglass Hill twice. Not well, but it was much cheaper when I was 18 or 19 years old! Thanks for the memories!!
Beautiful area!
This was wonderful, Eddie! Great footage. The Monterey Peninsula was a big part of my childhood. I was born at Carmel Hospital. I grew up in San Jose, but, my grandparents and uncle lived inside the Pebble Beach gates and my grandfather was a pharmacist and owned a Rexal Drug Store on top of the hill in SF, so we were there often. We stayed in PG during Thanksgiving weekend. Was wonderful! Cheers 🥤
Very nice! My mom was born in Hollister and her grandfather lived in San Jose after he emigrated to the U.S. at age 11… alone.
Awesome 👏 video I just moved here in January from America and I had no idea about any of these places thank you
My pleasure, that’s what I’m here for. I actually did a lot of my research on Instagram and that’s how I learned about Elvis Nightclub & Diner that they were opening on June 1st (a year ago today) and finally went around the end of the month and it became one of my favorite spots. I miss Barranquilla and the people there.
I’m going in July, loved the video, can you recommend a nice mid range budget hotel in a safe area near the nightlife you visited here thank you
I stayed in Airbnbs during my 3 months. My guess the hotels in the area where Elvis Nightclub & Diner is would be pricey up there in Altos de Riomar, Villa Campestre, Miramar, or Alto Prado or El Prado sections. Basically anywhere in the North is safe, in other words not the South aka the towns near or in the city of Soledad. My Airbnbs were apartments in Norte Centro Historico (Av 20 de Julio), southern part of Riomar bordering the historic district (there is a Radisson in the area where some good restaurants and casual dining (burgers etc.) establishments are, and Alto Prado. I had no issues with security anywhere I went, and I probably covered 75% of the city’s neighborhoods on foot in that 3 months. I like walking for exercise. My best recommendation is to go on Google Maps on a lap- or desktop and look into the prices on the hotels you find or Booking.com. That was my backup resource for if I wasn’t able to get an Airbnb.
Beautiful! One of my favorite areas is Lovers point. Illegal to feed squirrels, but I haven't been ticketed yet.
Btw, just south of there, John Denver beach is the best place for tiny agates and sea urchins ..go before 6am and you can make it to the island.
@@melodibutcher777Cool, we’re going again next weekend. I’m going to try and get a Timelapse of the sunrise if we stay at Lovers Point Inn again.
I haven't watched your videos in a while. RUclips probably figured out I was slacking so they sent me your thumbnail. I'm glad they did. Fun video! ( You got me reading...)
