I once did a take home challenge which was 7-day long and and I poured everything into it - it was a full blown interface with a few features, etc. super detailed with research and the full end to end jazz... after all that, they rejected me.

I really like how you laid out your process. even more simple. and i like how you say that is your process. I think i was too rigid and followed frameworks I've found online too strictly, and maybe spent too much time on understanding the problem. super helpful tips about the interviews sprinkled along the way. thanks!

Wow I loved this, the raw troubleshooting. I was talking to the screen about what I would be asking and doing. I learned a lot about the framing the question and the four business goal prompts. I'm definitely going to be practicing this with my mentor.

I'm a junior designer (mostly visual design) at an agency which specialises in annual reports. For annual reports most companies do not have a conversion - their goal ist to make information accessible. 65% of their user group are stakeholders / employees. It feels like the most clients are just worried about the microsite we develop fitting their brand guidelines. -> This case would fit into the category "retain users" What are obvious or best practises to improve a product in the category "retain users" ?

Really interesting to hear you mention that user personas for the most part don't add a lot of value. I've felt this myself too, sometimes they seem more like an arbitrary part of some kind of research 101 checklist that has become a "must have" deliverable. Many of them also seem to contain arbitrary information too, like "favourite brands" or "favourite apps". Unless this info is relevant to the project you're working on, it seems like unnecessary info that people add in because they've seen it in other templates online.

Hi Richard, thank you so much for posting this video! This is awesome :) I was wondering for topics that are very creative (like this one), should we approach them differently compare with easier topics (like design a food delivery app to help local restaurants)
