    You're off to a good start. That panda gara is going to outgrow that tank. I have 4 of them in my 75 gallon. They grow slow so you'll be ok for a while. You should get some crypt parva and fill in the gaps around the other plants. It would make the tank look even more full. Other fish like Corydoras would be a good fit, Also some algae eaters like otocinclus or a bristelnose pleco would clean up that diatom algae.

      @BesidePeacefulWaters 13 дней назад

      Thank you! Will keep that in mind about the crypt parva. I love corydoras and maybe some otocinclus will come in when Dora moves to a larger tank.

      There are some crypt wendtii green and bronze in there. They’ve started to sprout leaves! Maybe once I get a bigger community tank I will put the school of neon tetras inside, and then introduce a school of ember tetras here

      Thanks Carl! Cool to be in this zone where everything is figured out with the tanks. Not sure what's next. Maybe just some time to enjoy without needing to change anything haha. Hopefully happy fish and happy me in the next phase. Glad to hear you've been enjoying the channel!

  • @Chris-go2iz
    @Chris-go2iz 5 месяцев назад

    It was explained to me that crypts have terrestrial leaves and water leaves. So since the distributors grow them out of water, they have terrestrial leaves when you receive them. So the "land" leaves will melt to make room for the water leaves. But if you move them from one tank to another, you shouldn't get crypt melt because they will already have the water leaves. I'm glad for Mystic to get a new tank! Looks great so far!

    • @BesidePeacefulWaters
      @BesidePeacefulWaters 5 месяцев назад

      Hoping that some of them already have their water leaves then. A little bit of melt so far- will see how the next couple weeks go!

    beautiful and simple scape! i'm currently rescaping an old 10 gallon i've had for years with 10 different plant varieties so far with a driftwood and zebra rock hardscape! i have 2 different anubias' right now but after watching your vid i think some java fern will help complete the tank :)

    Is that the plant soil gravel from pet smart? If so how long have the plants been alive and do you use any products to help the plants Or does the soil provide all they need? I know fish that small don’t have a large amount of bio load

    • @BesidePeacefulWaters
      @BesidePeacefulWaters 6 месяцев назад

      Hi Eric, this is a type of aqua soil called "UNS Controsoil"

    • @BesidePeacefulWaters
      @BesidePeacefulWaters 6 месяцев назад

      The plants have been alive for the past month, I haven't added anything yet, but may down the line if needed. So far the Aquasoil has provided all they need.

    • @Q50Eric

    Beautiful scape. I think the next thing for you to try would be your hard scape. Particularly with the fish that you have. Try some spider wood or manzanita branches, along with some almond leaves and large dry seed pods. This will add tannins to the water which is beneficial for your fish. Then add a cheap low pressure yeast/sugar based CO2 system. You'll really flourish then.

  • @Shadow-jk6ip
    @Shadow-jk6ip 6 месяцев назад

    Kinda small since neons need a 20 gal. Maybe more stem plants. Another problem is the java ferns being rooted in the substrate. They should be attached to hardscape. Mentioning hardscape, there is a lack of hardscape in this tank. Overall, 3/5 keep up the work. Maybe watch videos from Serpa Design to help you get better at scaping and fish care. EDIT: I watched your previous video about this tank. I can't see clearly from this point of view, lol. Pretty creative design so it's going to go up to 3.5/5. Definitely make bigger and more eye catching hardscape. Also hide the filter and heater, they don't often look good in a natural scape. More bushy stem plants are much needed since neons are quite shy and would love more cover. Stem plants like water sprite, hornwort, hydrilla, etc. can get messy, but if you work with them more, the easier it is to make a scape with them.
