Once you have your ppl can you fly wherever you want in the uk? Like rent a place from your school and fly to any airport?

I flip flopped back and forth between these and the a20s during training. My school had numerous examples of both so I’ve used both somewhat extensively. I ended up with a set of these simply because I got a really good deal on them. What I *can* say is that after having used both the Zulu 3 and the a20…they’re pretty comparable in many ways. There’s nothing that would be a deal breaker for me one way or the other. I do find the Zulus to be SLIGHTLY more comfortable than the a20 set but that’s mostly because the a20s get a little bit “pinchy” on your head after a couple of hours. On the other hand, I think the noise cancelling in the a20s is probably a little bit nicer and more thorough. With the price differential, the zulus are a really good option…I got mine “like new” for about half the cost of a new a20 pair. So if there’s anything to take away from this…hold out until you can get a good deal. There’s no reason to spend $1200+ on a headset. That’s completely ridiculous.

I used to watch it all the time and was my favorite program back in the day and it was the first aircraft i saw now over 20 years later i'm having lessons from EGCB ( Barton ) but would love to see G-SFTZ with my own eyes.

I have actually flown one of the other T-67 aircraft used in the 'Come Outside' programme! Back in the early 90's I had a flying lesson at Oxford Airport Kidlington (EGTK) and It was in G-BOCM which at the time was owned by the Oxford Air Training school that has since become Oxford Aviation Academy! Flew with a woman instructor too! :) Would love to come and fly this one day!

Hi - Without going into too much personal detail How did you finance the cost for this was it savings etc ? what was you life like when you did it. I work full time and only 22 but im looking to do my ppl in the years to come. I know everyone's life is different but experience is always transferrable.

This video as nice as it is must NOT be used for educational purposes. The pilot is exhibiting bad practices that should not be emulated by other pilots. If anything, it's a video on how not to do things. For example: 1. The pilot takes out his check list straight after landing while still taxing on the runway. This is an obvious distraction and he veers off the centre line. The only thing the pilot should be doing on the runway after a landing is making sure he keeps the aircraft on the centre line as much as possible, slow down safely and appropriately and focus on how to vacate the runway. He has no business pulling out the checklist. He doesn't even refer to it. Anything else is unnecessary and a distraction. 2. The pilot announces to the controller 'runway vacated' while still on the runway and as crossing over the white line. This is bad practice. The aircraft is vacated only when the the whole body of the aircraft has crossed the line. Only then can you announce the runway is vacated. 3. The pilot then commences to taxi to the left of the taxi centre line. At one point he is half way between the taxi line and the grass verge. This is bad practice. Taxiing an aircraft is not like driving a car in the left hand lane. The reason you taxi on the centre line is to make sure the wing tips have maximum clearance and are equally spaced out and to minimise possible collision with other parked aircraft. Even if you are not taxing near aircraft, it is healthy practice to taxi on the centre line. He then takes the check list out again which has no place and reason for during taxiing. He gets distracted by this and veers off the centre line again. 4. The pilot is given taxi clearances like: G-TZ taxi parking. The pilot responds Roger. This is bad practice as the air traffic controller can't understand from this if the pilot clearly understood the instruction or is just paying lip service. The correct response to a clearance should be a repeat of the essence of the clearance and should have been: G-TZ taxi to parking.

I'm sure someone has mentioned this, or you perhaps know this already, but since the UK has left the EU, PPL Tutor is on the wrong exam board. The CAA exams are slightly different to the EASA exams!

Still a lot. And a lot of free time needed to keep current and costs that can impose. But I’m not ruling it out I have a interest in flying at least I’ll try some experience flights. But I’m very busy with running my own company. Maybe in a few years or so I can look into it more seriously. Also I need to find my local school as well. But like most it boils down to time, money, and circumstances. And objective of getting the license eg use and goal.

I love the idea of speaking out loud while doing the checks. However, if you find yourself speaking literally everything out loud - get rid of it. I got into this bad habit when flew my first solo - it helped me to concentrate on talking and doing and I didn't really have time to get nervous. And then I kept doing it when flying with instructors :D Obviously it's NOT good. Confident pilots do not talk to themselves out loud :) Also the more you talk, the more chances you let your instructor/examiner know you are doing something wrong before you had time to fix it :) I remember once I counted a completely wrong TAS and wind correction, flew for a bit...then said "oh wait, that wasn't right". If I wasn't talking out loud, the instructor wouldn't even know I made a mistake. Anyway....talk but do not talk too much :) Good luck everyone!

Nice content, how does it work, saw you flying a N reg aircraft to Belgium. Is your license CAA /FAA? Im a FAA pilot in the UK but haven't flown much since moving to the UK , hard to find N reg aircraft to rent in Kent.

It's quite funny watching this as a skydiver about to start ppl. Same rules apply regarding winds etc

And the second question is -> My first language is Polish. Do I need to pass English ICAO level 4 as a first test? Thanks

So basically when the show ended they went oh let's sell the plane and it got used as a plane no one saw it as the plane from one of the most Iconic British kids TV programmes in history. Right scrape that lot off spray it and get it on ebay! England all over. Still makes me sick what happened to Fred dibnah's property and belongings.
