TM22 vs TM22 LIGHT COMPARISON
Просмотров 4912 месяца назад
I wanted to do a side by side comparison of the TM22 and TM22 Light. RIA updated the thumb safety...the lever is now similar to AR type safety, it flip down to fire. Tested the rifle using CCI MiniMag and had no issues. With CCI SV, I had an issue where the bolt would not lock back. With Winchester and Federal ammo, it would not cycle.

Setting up the Manticore X with Magnum Research receiver and barrel. Rifle ran great no issues...about 200rds as of this video. This is a light rifle for use in Steel Challenge. Only issue I see is the buffer tend to walk out from receiver. Need a captured pin there, otherwise keep eye out for it.

Testing to see if the Dawson Precision Magwell (ICE) will fit in the Tisas B9R and the Girsan Witness 2011. In the Tisas the magwell fit perfectly but with the Girsan, I had to modify the back part of the magwell to clear the mainspring housing and grip module. I just enlarged the back part enough to allow the grip to slip into the magwell.

Shot this match using DA KL-12. Never use untested ammo at match. Figured I use Win AA 1180 for the match instead of my Fiocchi Shooting Dynamics. That was a mistake, turned the DA into a bolt gun. Struggled through 1st stage and then switched to Fiocchi for the next 2 stages and had to use Win AA for the rest of the match. Luckily Win AA ran on last stage. End the match with overall win.

      @sonnym1461 Sometimes, the tolerance is hit and miss even on the factory 5 rds mags. You might need to tune those, too. Also, if you have the CA compliance SG, mags won't release unless takedown pin is pulled and slightly pivot the lower.

    I just ordered some springs that are 1.0mm thick compared to the factory spring which is .6 or .7mm thick. To me it seems like there is not enough spring pressure, but I see you're thinking it is too much spring pressure. Just curious as to why you think that and if cutting the spring shorter helped? Will let you know in a few days if the 12mm x 1mm spring works better. Appreciate ya taking the time to make the vid. Pretty frustrating purchasing a gun and problems right from the start.

    • @redarmory
      @redarmory 10 дней назад

      @jasonjaeger4042 One of the reasons I cut the springs was that when fully loaded, the mag body swelled, and mag would not drop free. After cutting the springs and making sure not to let the spring push up on the cartridge as I load each round, the mag dropped free from the pistol. I do not dismiss that following the factory instructions to make sure each cartridge is staggered helps, but that doesn't always correct malfunctions. I would like to hear back once you replace the springs. Thanks.

    Bought a P322 Comp and was very excited to shoot it. Went straight to my range and was pretty let down. The RomeoZero Elite RDO it came with is garbage, when you try to adjust it you turn say clockwise and the dot will raise. Then if you try to bring it back down a tiny bit the slightest twist moves the dot probably 15moa....FROM A SIXTEENTH OF A TURN LITERALLY. Same goes for your windage (left or right). So I got rid of that garbage rdo. Then the mag feed issue, the lack of parts available, the absence of a parts explosion, just not worth the $600 I paid for it. For that much $ for a 22 there should be NO problems at all. Meanwhile my Canik MC9 has had 9500rds thru it and not ONE malfunction and it's supposed to have a bunch of issues......not buying a sig ever again. Trigger is garbage too.

    • @redarmory
      @redarmory 10 дней назад

      @jasonjaeger4042 I agree the red dot is not ideal, I'd prefer a lower price point and letting me pick the dot...or include the updated RomeoZero. I did not have any issues with zeroing the dot, but you are correct that the adjustment screws don't have feedback. For me, besides the occasional light strike and feeding issues before the mods, the pistol is actually fun to shoot now. Hope you get all the issues figured out.

    I have had a Sig P322 for about 10 weeks. It is used almost daily in training classes. Have fired more than 5000 rounds through it with zero problems. Anytime I buy new mags, for any gun, I clean them thoroughly before use. As for these mags they have run flawlessly since day one. I disagree with this video in that it is important to keep pressure on the round you are loading in order to avoid rim lock. The included load assist device does just that. I do agree that the stacking should be checked for alternating seating in the mag. If you cut off a coil you may experience malfunctions after extended use so be aware of that when choosing to do so. Otherwise this is a nicely done video instruction.

    • @redarmory
      @redarmory Месяц назад

      From the design of the handguard mounting location and fastener, it is not a direct swap from the TM22 to the Light. TM22 HG is held in place by a fastener to the extended portion of the top rail/cover. While in the Light, everything is held in place by a threaded barrel and nut to hold the HG to the receiver. I am sure that with minor modifications, you can get it to work, but that would negate the reason for choosing the Light version. I believe the clam shell HG can accept mlok accessories. Mounting my 407k wasn’t perfect either. Very tight fit. Ended up having to tap the sight down the last little bit which did nothing to the slide, didn’t even scratch the slide lol. But it did take the finish off the aluminum housing of the sight. Also like others are stating Tisas did not cut the proper angle on the slide cut for the optic. I had to use every bit of the 30moa of adjustment on the 407k in order to zero but it did zero, thankfully. Also like others have stated the safety used for a left handed shooter(like myself) is uncomfortable, very uncomfortable. So I’m either going to dremel the edge/corner or put different safety on it. You would think with these negative issues that I wouldn’t like the pistol lol but I do like it a lot 👍🏻

      I ended up cleaning out the threads and used red loctite, I figured I won't need to take the plate off going forward, and if I do a little heat and it will loosen up. I still use blue with the fastener for the optic itself.

    Do you know if the Prodigy grip moduel will fit on the Witness frame?

    • @redarmory
      @redarmory 3 месяца назад

      From what I've seen, they will fit with minor modifications to the grip module. A few areas are slightly different because of the contour, but being it's plastic, a slight sanding will blend it in. I would recommend just getting the prodigy if you like that grip more. By the time you do all that, the price will be close to the base price of the prodigy...and it would be a better pistol imo.

    • @adamwatts14
      @adamwatts14 3 месяца назад

      I acquired one of these in a trade is the only reason I'm asking. I essentially have no money in it. But I hate how cheap the module feels. I know, if you call SA, you can purchase a grip moduel for 40 dollars so I may just give it a go. Thanks for the advice!

    a really nice gun, but i hate the polymer- grip. cause a it ruins the classic 19/2011 style and b all the aftermarket gripaccessorys dont fit... like new gripscales etc... if at least aftermarketgrips would fit i would be able to make some ompromises in terms of the polymer grip but so this gun sadly is out of my list. but as i sayed a really cool new 2011

    Had issues myself with the first 3 range trips. Frustrated, I’ve Since educated myself on loading the magazine correctly and now it functions great. A uniform stack as you described, each round stacking left, right, left etc, is KEY! Tip, If you notice one round out of place, tip the mag upside down, pull back the tab to release pressure, give it a tiny shake and it sets the round back in its place and continue loading. If you stack it right, it’ll shoot right. Simple.

    • @redarmory
      @redarmory 3 месяца назад

      You are correct about making sure the rounds are loaded into the magazine correctly. If not, it definitely will create malfunctions. Also noticed that these magazines swell when loaded fully. Thanks.

    I own and have owned good 1911's and 2011's. For many years. For a range toy my Wife bought me a Girsan for my birth day two years ago. Never have I shot such a piece of Carp! I ended up putting all Wilson Combat and EGW parts in it and no matter how hard I tried, it was purely terrible. I've been Smithing my personal and other peoples 1911's for over 40 years and never ever have had a gun so out of speck that nothing really helped. so soft was the slide, frame and bbl. that once tightened, it would completely shoot itself loose within 200 rounds. Terrible heat treat. Extractor tunnel was in the wrong location, and that were just the first issues. Pure garbage!!! I ended up putting it on my anvil and fixing it permanently with a 5 pound sledge. It was far too poor of a gun to sell to anyone. I couldn't do that to anyone! I've owned or own to this day, Colts, Smith and Wesson, Wilson combat even before they became Wilson Combat, Les Baer, Staccato Rock and a few others. Some were higher quality than others. Girsan was the worst in quality I've ever had the displeasure of handling. Even the4 claim that the slide and frame were forged. Forged slides do not have sand cast cavities in them! Knife

      I have limited experience with the Girsan pistol they produced. I mostly dealt with their shotgun. I agree with you, from the three I've tested recently, the Girsan was at the bottom of the list. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Hopefully, it will help others make an informed purchase.

      I got the trigger from Fusion Firearms, but be aware you might need to make adjustments to the trigger bow to make it work. As for disassembly and reassembly, the process is the same as any 2011 or similar platform. I will do a video once I reach the 1k rounds mark for inspection of the parts on the pistol. Thanks.
