    Ari, is it possible to do OPA on 4x4 using the Hoya method? I tried switching to yau but just couldn't.

    • @ariranderspehrson
      @ariranderspehrson 7 месяцев назад

      Yes you can! With Hoya, once you solve your third center the parity state is locked in. This means OPA is even easier with Hoya.

    • @ariranderspehrson
      @ariranderspehrson 11 месяцев назад

      I would generally recommend waiting until you are somewhere in the 30-40 second range or lower before fully switching to OPA. That said, if you find the method fun, I wouldn't worry about using it too early

    • @arianmartinnunez8816
      @arianmartinnunez8816 Месяц назад

      @@ariranderspehrson would you still recommend using the OPA method? I mean, the world class cubers do not use it (except for you lol)

    • @ariranderspehrson
      @ariranderspehrson 28 дней назад

      @@arianmartinnunez8816 Obviously you do not need OPA to be the best in the world, but I would still say it is better overall. I believe the consistency that OPA offers is incredibly useful, especially at large competitions. That consistently creates less variability though, meaning that one’s best official results may be slightly slower than otherwise

  • @remyscube

    Yo, great video as always!! Is there like an OPA discord server or something? I recently changed from yau to OPA and I was wondering if there was like a server to discuss the method.

    Haven't been cubing for a couple years but always thought there must be a way to predict and avoid parity on 4x4, it's just a matter of time before people discover a viable way for speedsolving. Very nice to see we're at that point by now :)

  • @seb_bock_cubing

    As a hoya user, does anyone have any experience on if it is faster to solve two adjacent centers of the cube as the first step so parity is decided sooner or just continue tracking parity state for 3 centers, solving two opposite centers first like normal.
