We often have to do some towing at work but rather than a tow truck we just hook’em with the backhoe #johndeere #heavyequipment #backhoe #fordranger #ford #towtruck #tow #brokedown

Falling a no good fir into the pond. Cutting timber for firewood. #firewood #logging #chainsaw

Second cut and with a backup saw. The first low face cut went just as expected. The back cut however ran into a large piece of steel near the center of the tree and it totally trashed the chain on the first saw. That forced a second and higher cut. Had a dying fir next to the pond that needed to be removed and is destined to become firewood for next season. #logging #firewood #chainsaw #loggers...

Some tight and steep terrain in the central Sierra. The end of one of the grapple arms snapped the turn came out and the weight shifted and this was the result. In the end all is well. #johndeere #logging #heavyequipment #logger
I just pick up a Mac 130
Great footage! Thanks man!
I just bought on for 30$
What fuel mix do you use. I believe the saw says 16:1 but i heard most people run a 40:1 mix.
A traction engine looke like caseoh
Ur banned
I never thought about using electrical strut for that good job man.
I would love to run it
Which steam locomotive is it?
Funny that this engine is on a auction now
Looking at it, she's probably very worn out
My saw doesn’t want to move forward. Does that mean it’s dull?
I just did a MS 440 / 460 cylinder ... I am looking for a 461 Donor saw have a good motor that got ran over by a machine
Memories dude, my first saw brand new I was 8 from my grandparents was an XL no chain brake, whittled out quite a few shakebolts with it, which I still had it.
I've been struggling to get this brake assembly put back together for hours.. thanks to your video I got it back together!
Called out!
I have a question: What is auxiliary 7 and 8, im fairly new with skidsteers and was wondering what they are for? I have a cat 289c and an hm415c mulcher and was wondering if i needed to turn on auxiliary 7 or 8. Do you think you could help me?
Our unit needs to have auxiliary 7 engaged to operate the mulcher or our snow blower. That give ours control of the doors on the mulcher we have and the chute on the snow blower.
@LumberjackSmokestack ok, so it's ok if the buttons are on at all times right?
@@deirirenteria317 yup
May I ask what size bar and chain ?
32” bar full skip chain
apparently no knows what the buttons on the right joystick do because they all skip over those.
On our snow blower they control the tilt of the chute. The function changes depending on the attachment.
I didn't know the California western even had this little engine. I really hope they got the nessicsry repairs done to rhe tracks too
We still dont have any snow buddy. Glad you're getting moisture in the ground 😎
Just 4.5” on this last front. Should get another 4 tonight
Yeah u need that big ol piece of equipment for that little bitty snow you can see dirt!
When it’s the machine you have it’s what you use. And if we don’t get it off the pavement before the temps drop we have ice for weeks!
What make the the bar
Just curious but, I was wondering why you didn't cut closer to the ground since it looks like there is already a face cut there?
Awesome!!!! Is this a controlled burn?
Mostly😂
Lesssgggooooooo
Getting it done!!
It always amazes me that good chainsaws are capable of putting up with the abuse of milling as long as they do.
Full house goes cutter-cutter-cutter-cutter. Full comp goes cutter-link-cutter-link
Chain does not come cutter, cutter, cutter. At least not in any readily available products. There is a link between. Out here standard, full comp and full house are used to mean the same thing. You might be interested in this web page. www.baileysonline.com/pub/media/baileys/pdf/saw-chain-101.pdf
On nice big planks like that my wife who did a lot of the milling, would sit on top and push with her feet. A string to the throttle worked well. It also gets you away from the exhaust😂
We just sold our 1996 310d backhoe with cab. It was a great machine
Watched it all, thanks.
Nice video, I also run a full skip chain for cutting oak. I can see you do a little engine work from the degree wheel you have hanging above your workbench. Just put a popup piston in my 455 rancher and matched the stock piston weight she runs pretty rowdy. Just going to throw this out there. When I pulled the old piston out and check the ring Gap it was 3 times what the Gap should have been. Is this normal from the factory?
Aaron stole my comment 😁😆🤣
Nice work and up the hill
I know that truck I ain’t no stranger that’s a ford effn ranger😂😂
Just drop the blade
Blade was on a log on the other side
We have a foot of snow up here 😂
You can keep it for another month or so🤣
Heck yeah that is awesome.
Awesome machine 👍
I think it comes down to someone who enjoys the process. Milling looks super methodical and I think it’s rewarding at the end of the day as well.
Old but informative Video. I've purchased a budget saw that comes with 24" Bar and chain, mostly for stand up bucking. However, now I understand the clear difference in how the types of chains effect the Saw as well as the cut. I will be keeping a Full Skip chain on the box for those odd Big Trunks that need tackling. Thank you for sharing with the community.
Why oh why is the starting end not higher than the finishing , its so much easier just helping the saw go down hill instead of pushing ???
Downhill has no noticeable advantage in wood like this. The saw has to cut at the same rate of speed. Gravity is not a major factor.
@@LumberjackSmokestack maybe not but ive been doing this for 49 years and going down hill is easyer , and if your on soft wood like douglas forget skip chain just take the rakers of a normal chain , you will get decent chips instead of half chips and dust , let the saw do the work downhill with less grooves , you could try it and tell me it dont work , ive been doing this since the early 70s
not to mention your subscription to the jim.
What kind of wood ya got there .?
That’s a pretty big outhouse ??
Where is this at
Santa Margarita Ranch
I've seen a sawmill like that it was an Alaskan, but it had rails with a winch and a cable.
Rails are only needed for the initial cut. After that the mill is adjusted and rides on the flat cut surface. The winch systems are add on’s to make it easier
I don't like the Oregon chains anymore, they have to make teeth that are rock hard and difficult to file ! I have been buying the cheap UPSTART Chinese chain's for half the price online and had good luck so far.
I have not had enough longevity out of the Chinese chain. Mostly I run Husqvarna square ground chain when felling
Isn't there a wench to help pull the saw ?
Those are add on parts
Sweet!!!
So I’m new to this world, what does red lever mean, and the magnum version the 10mm and 12mm all mean? If you don’t have time to answer I’ll look further at stuff. I just won a bid on eBay on one. Now the fun begins.
Magnum is just part of their naming on the pro saws. The 10mm is more sought after by guys that like the old saws
