took me like 7 years to get my blue belt. I moved around a lot and had to change schools, but I was beating all the white belts and blue belts for a while. But I had to buy the kimono with the school patch, had to get my "degree", had to pay for events etc, for like a year and a half. I feel like they make you be loyal or somehting to the school before they graduate you. Finally got my blue belt and immediately quit bjj of course.

People seem to completely miss the realistic importance of knowing how to "fight" and defend yourself off of your back. If I'm ever in a real fight, there's a decent chance that a failure to deescalate gets me backing up and knocked off balance and sitting on my ass while some dude tries to come ground and pound. So like, yeah 100% I'm gonna practice not letting someone get close, or sitting them on their butt with a tripod sweep, or strangling them the moment they enter my space. It's not just this "gay" style of combat sport. Plus, it's a sport. It's a game. It's a hobby. I have tons of other stuff going on it's not about coming into the gym and doing the most high testosterone style of grappling. And lastly, there's often just not enough space for an entire gym to be starting standing running through double legs and sprawling back to kick the 16 year old girl behind you in the head. I feel like ALL of these points are missed.

Anyone coming into modern MMA thinking they can get with doing one signature move/set of moves is going to get canned. Ronda is the perfect example. Lady did that judo hip toss to an armbar real smooth, but if she can't do specifically that to someone, she looks like an amateur. Hall could've been a monster at that size with BJJ if only he developed a LITTLE stand-up. Watching Ryan Hall is always weird for me, personally. Trained with a guy that got the golden spoon treatment, back in the day. Two world renown black belts hand-feeding him technique, while he trained all day and "worked" the front desk (guy somehow got away with getting paid to work at the gym while only training the whole time. All of the paying students cleaned and helped out more than this guy. He injured more people by himself than the rest of the gym did, combined. This frequently happened when/if someone caught him in a submission. He always would talk about how much better he is than everyone at the gym, won plenty of tournaments sandbagging as a bluebelt when he could submit both of our blackbelts. Refused belt promotions because he wanted to go compete at World's, multiple years in a row. Long story short, this guy had the opportunity to go train with Hall, and did, but came back because the training was too hard and they didn't cater to him over there. Hall himself said our guy was really good, beat most of his guys, etc. However, our guy never would've made it and Hall proves it, resoundingly. Remember, it's not the strongest or smartest that win in evolution, it's the ones that adapt the best. Hall never adapted or changed up his game, this works when opponents don't have an entire team studying your fights, but that's not the type of fight Hall signed up for.

it was really good to see ryan hall's getting KOed. The dude is a total hipocrite. Loves to call out bjj fighters, especially IBJF's blackbelts who are not "complete" yet he displays ZERO wrestling/takedowns/striking skills. Pure lazyness to rely on a single movement and very arrogant to think that being one dimensional will actualy work at the highest leve of mma. Also, his body is very weak, how many surgeries has he perfomed? his conditioning is trash and he's fragile.

Spamming the imanari roll is not jiu jitsu. But, yes, it has limitations just like EVERY other martial art out there.

If any of these wrestlers were at least high level blue belts or purple, I will think they have a chance to win but they're not going to be able to just hold guys down, they will get hit with stalling calls. They need to be able to transition and have submission attempts which I don't think there good at
