Literally guess $130 before I saw the reveal. Totally reasonable price. Between building, painting, and playing, you’ll be using these models easily for 20-40 hours. $6.5-$3.5 per hour of entertainment/ hobby time is good value.

Just came across your video. My brother and I have been playing Darklands for about 3 years. The minis are awsome, the rules however while once you know them make sense mostly, they do need fixed for new players and easier reference. I've been play Warhammer (original) since 1984 and 40K since 1987. When someone decides to change OUR lore to fit some woke BS it really pisses me off. How can GW (Amazon) change the lore for 1% of the gaming population who believes in this garbage? What really irks me the most is these bozos weren't even born or were still in diapers when the Warhammer came out. After all this BS that's come to light, our group is going our own way. We have 2 graphic artists in our group who can design new armies for us, and we bought a couple of 3D printers so we make our own models. All of us are Warhammer veterans, so we know the Warhammer mechanics well enough to create our own lore, rule sets, and models. We don't need Amazon or GW to continue to enjoy Warhammer. Custodes literally have no mali from their creation except for becoming distant since they now have a bigger life span than anything except for Eldar and Necron and with Eldar they probaply on par, while Space Marines... fuck don't turn mo into one of this frankenstein monsters, rather kill me immeadiately, but heck yeah if you want me to join the custodes, I could literally become equal to fucking Herakles after acsending to godhood, AFTER... because greek gods are super weak, but thats not the point.

In 10k years of recorded history, no female custodes was ever mentioned, at the same time of the reveal, the codex gets a nerf. What are they trying to tell us? Oh dont forget the recorded training regiments, of how they train chest free, how will they do that with the females? hm.

I really think its the way they delivered the explaination for the retcon, trying to dismiss it as always having been the case was indeed lazy and dumb, thats my only issue with it is custodes, if I remember well, are handcrafted by the emperor and they dont really have a way to replenish their number unless one of them willingly agree to be reverse-engineered. So rather than work around that bit and have Cawl do the work under watch from the captain general and other custodes or something like that while cawl do the reverse-engineering in hopes to at least make maybe lesser version but still stronger than space marine, they went the lazy way and are now paying for it....

i know the lore is a core aspect of warhammer but GW is known for this kind of thing and it’s tied to a tabletop game that is ever adapting and changing and licenses out a ton of book deals that practically spit out conflicting lore constantly. it’s best not to even get too hung up on minor details like this especially with something so insignificant as the gender of a mini. people have hated on GW for their lore changes and business practices since started playing when it was 3rd edition, if you don’t like them just get 3rd party minis and don’t support GW.

That's the thing, it is not the kind of retcon GW does when they want to add some minis and they have to change something to make sense. It's just a cheap diversity token retcon + community gaslight that serves no purpose unless it's been forced or influenced by Amazon in order to force Henry to comply and add it to the upcoming shows. EDIT: And no, it doesn't go beyond me that SoS and Custodes working toguether as left and right hands of the Emperor is diluted by this change and a disservice to the uniqueness of both of these groups.

Custodes explicitly aren't made like Space Marines, they appeared first (same time as the Thunder Warriors) and have no Primarch/Geneseed, being pretty much custom made post-humans rather than the standardised process of SM creation.

You are not really being honest about the "two gendered units working together"argument. We already have the marines and the sisters filling that role. The sisters of silence are nulls and should be viewed from that ability. Creating female custodes changes that dynamic, but to me it makes them more interesting, not less. Its not just another more space mariney space marine faction like you called them. They are a ruling elite, a handcrafted avatar of the emperors power. I prefer this change.

I'm not opposed to female custodes in principle. I would say it's a fairly minor change that, if rumours are to be believed, is really a crappy attempt at a PR move that GW doesn't intend to see reflected in the minis. But if that's the case... 1. Why make the change in the first place? 2. Why go about said change in such an abrasive way? It's not okay to just dismissively say that things have always been this way and that if you're not immediately on board, you're a bigot. I also think that people rabidly opposing the change can culturally point to plenty of examples where these 'small' changes escalated. Dr. Who had its first female doctor... Which then became that the Doctor was ALWAYS originally female, that a female form was 'an upgrade' and that male doctors were inherently privileged. Lord of the Rings had a series focused on Galadriel... Which became a series in which they butchered her into a borderline villainous warrior who would humiliate or disregard all the men she came across. Velma took Scooby Doo and focused it on a female character... And in the process reduced the two male characters of Fred and Shaggy to a narcissistic moron who's the butt of every joke for being white and having a tiny dick, and an utter simp who slavishly does whatever the female MC tells him. I could give more examples, but I think every single property has been tarnished BADLY by what started as a 'small meaningless change' and I think it's disingenuous to say that people who notice this trend of properties being dumpstered and pushing back against them are inherently bigots motivated solely by hatred of X social group.

I have been playing 40k from the start, a lot of the so called "retcons" were just seen as advancements in the lore. Necrons were chaos androids, then unthinking machines, then what they are now, BUT it fits the narrative and lore, we start by seeing the Necrons awaken and the basic warrior is an unthinking machine, it's only the leadership who have memories and personality so it fits that we only find out that after the leadership has awoken and more contact has been made with them. Squats were not "retconed" out their worlds were eaten by the Tyranids off screen, they still exist in the universe (at least on Necromunda). With so many authors writing books/codexes for the stetting you are going to get clashes in lore, for a time Ultramarines were the ""best of the best" when it came to Space Marines, hence some of the dislike for them today. If the faction you are writing about is the "heroes" of your story they will be seen as the better than the antagonists. This unfortunately muddies the waters when it comes to what is lore or canon, an offhand comment from a character in a novel about another faction can be taken as canon, where as it's just be the opinion of the character speaking. As for Custodians the main reason I see why everyone is upset is about how GW implemented this change, saying it's not a change and then blocking anyone who mentions that it is a change to the lore is just infuriating (I will say there is probably some actual bigots out there shouting their opinions, and probably quite a few shitposters as well). People get lied and gaslighted so much from news sources, companies, and social media. Spending time enjoying your preferred hobby is an escape from everyday life into a world when everything is written down in black and white, a change to that world that comes naturally is fine, being told your wrong about something that has been true for decades just pisses people off. If they had (as you said) now that the Custodes are leaving the Imperial Palace and Terra they need to replace their losses and there are now females being added, from what I have seen the vast majority of fans would have just said okay that's fine (and can we get more Sister of Silence please). The people who are defending this retcon and have drank the GW cool-aid seem to be the most unhinged here. The way Custodes are created from what I understand is vastly different from that of Space Marines, the Custodes are hand crafted and essentially gene edited to achieve a specific result, there should be no reason why they can't be female, they don't have to be looking almost like males from the process, they could keep their feminine traits. Space Marines are implanted with organs grown from their primarchs gene-seed, if the aspirant is genetically compatible they survive and become Space Marines. 40k before the introduction of Primaris has been put forward as a universe at constant war, were wargear and equipment has been cared for, restored and passed down to the next generation of marines because replacements were hard to manufacture, where the marines themselves are a rare and precious commodity. Some of the novels like to mention a marine commenting on a baseline human woman who is fighting alongside them and remarking then if only they had been born male they would have been a great applicant for the marines chapter. I have always thought that females could be marines and its just a wording issue, like the Ecclesiarchy having "no MEN under arms" so the have an army of WOMEN, i could also be that this knowledge was hidden because the Emperor didn't want transhumans to flourish, and wanted baseline humans to be the way forward for humanity, it fits the whole narrative of limited recruits to replace marine losses, but secretly the marine chapters could have doubled their recruitment pools the whole time. The introduction of the Primaris kinda just kills all that because they can just seemingly throw an man into a machine and it spits out a Primaris who then just gets his brand new wargear off a shelf and heads off to the battlefield like a robot. I just hope that WHEN GW introduces female marines they do it with a lot more finesse.

From a miniature gaming standpoint, it changes nothing. Just leave the lady heads off. I don't ever use the non helmeted heads anyway. I mean, who marches into war without their helmet on (I'm looking at you guy who took his helmet off in Saving Private Ryan). I doubt the addition of a fictional uterus will change any armor saves. Also, any argument about lore is forgetting how much "the lore" has changed since Rogue Trader. GW has routinely dropped entire sections of lore (squats), wrote other parts, and added new stuff out of the blue that was never mentioned before (like a lot of stuff about Chaos over the decades). Remember, "Everything in Warhammer is canon, and nothing in Warhammer is canon." And as far as 'there is already a female faction', lots of other factions have women. Like the Eldar and The Astra Militarum, which until recently, there were almost no models for despite them existing "in the lore (for the guard). If it bothers you that much... um... well, I don't think I have to say it. But just forget it happened, and in your 40k games, your gold plastic boys are just that, only boys.

For me it's not that they did it. In fact, Female Custodes, I didn't mind the idea. BUUUUT how they did it, with no good story and explanation at all + how they rubbed it to the consumer was bad....really really bad.

Everyone is talking around the issue and having a proxy war in essence. The reason this is different than other changes is that this has a very strong feeling of a culture war item. Adding in space dwarves had no real world political or cultural equivalent. So you could like it or hate it on its own terms, but it was still 40k. This change is different. This change is yet another marxist search for inclusive group think because they must leave no stone unturned in their push for a hive mind. That is what is being pushed back against. People dont want this trash, that is why this change had this reaction. Look up the parable of the camel and the tent.

Added girls to 40k in the thumbnail... good God-Emperor, alright lets run down the list, we'll start with the Imperium, male exclusive factions, Space Marines, Adeptus Custodes, thats it and each has a female equivalent which that is The Sisters of Silence (Custodes, massively under represented in models despite calls for expansion and not properly increaesed in this codex which they should of been) and Sisters of Battle (The Ministoriums answer to the Space Marines). Imperial Guard (no I am not calling it Astra anything I'm not a POG) mentions of female and mixed regiments, numerous female characters of all ranks, if anything GW has lagged behind as I remember calls for female guard models all the way back to the early 2000's. (Also should note they tried to sue the lady who made a company producing those models out of buisness, victoria minis, great company brilliant models for Guard) Adeptus Mechaniscus, numerous female techpreists mentioned in lore, honestly may have models but under all that metal, who would know Inqusition, female Inquisitors, Acolytes and Agents both lore and models Assassinorium, one 99% female temple and the rest have female assassins mentioned (though for mini's 3rd party has generally picked up the slack) Administratium, yep had female scribes, ranking members and if you want to throw the High lords in here, I think there is even a model Xenos Elder, female warriors, characters in lore and models going all the way back to the early 2000's even 90's (and still the same models as GW hasnt update the line in ages) Dark Elder, we'll, just say yes and move on Tau, female characters in lore, one specific model in Shadowsun nothing overly specifc as frankly they are Tau, who can tell Kroot, honestly no idea if they are even a gendered species Tyranids are bio-engineers monstrosities, but they did have a Norn Queen model in epic, so yes? Genestealer Cults, yes, in fact the Genestealer female Magus is one of the best models GW ever did Leagues of Votan, honeslty no idea, they're new, not seen any so far, so more representation for female space dwarf starcraft cosplayers I guess... Demons... again, well just say sorta, kinda yes, but also no... Its Slaanash, they are demons and effectively manifested energy, lets just move on... quickly Point is there is a hell of a lot of female representation in 40k, and 2 mono-gendered factions have clear female equivalents saying otherwise is either displaying ignorance of the lore and models or just wilfully disingenuous.

I can only speak from experience that I left Star Wars because of the woke and I found Warhammer which I loved immensely I really invested in the lore and I was just about to start dropping hundreds of dollars but if they're going to go work also maybe I need to save my money. Rogal Dorn tank lore is saying they have always been there, not that they found a new STC. Thats why they use it as an example. They retcon things retroactively a lot into always being there. Cawl always had the Primaris on his backpocket is also a retcon of the same caliber if you think about it. Custodes are not made anything like Space Marines dude. We know little of the process, while we know a lot of the Space Marine process. But we do know they are really different which is why the Emperor only made 10 thousand of them. And on your argument of Sisters of Silence/Custodes relationship being muddied. Until we have them interact you are just making an assumption arent you. Plus if you want elite troops oof male only interacting with female only. You are in luck. Along the Sisters of Silence, you have another 2 only male or female factions on the Imperium of men... Sisters of Battle and Space Marines. So to put it blunty. You did poorly on your research because, some of the people you cited said some of this things on th every videos you showed on screen.
