I grew up in a vegan vegetarian household. My mom would say things like “all things in moderation” but also she would demonize certain things to where I’ll still feel guilty and remember it every time I go to eat some random food. Some things I really have to go back and check, wait is this really that bad?? I have a pretty well rounded nutrition system in place. Every time someone says “food doesn’t have morals. It isn’t ‘good’ or ‘bad’” I still think “yes but certain things really aren’t good for you tho?? They aren’t nutritious like at all??” So I really do understand what you’re saying here more so than someone just fun fact shouting that food doesn’t have morals. Of course it doesn’t. But also we don’t have to demonize all foods that aren’t Whole Foods. As a current vegetarian who really does need the veggie replacement proteins I’m always nervous to talk about it online because not only do people look down on you for only eating tofu, but if you mention veggie chicken nuggets you can get your head bit off for not only eating tofu. It sucks!! I need variety! And do t get me started on lentils ect. I don’t like them. They don’t digest well for me. I eat what fuels me and I’ve had a whole lifetime fighting with all of this. So I seriously get where you are coming from thank you.
Thank you for understanding. It's always nice when you can find someone to relate too. Especially in a world where people are so judgmental sometimes for having a different view.
I personally don't relate to this. It sounds like you had a lot of pressure about that kind of stuff growing up and I didn't. It reminds me of how I feel guilty for playing video games because "there's better things I could be doing with my time" because my mom would always complain that I didn't spend my time productively. Any comments I've gotten from people saying how unhealthy something is for me don't really stick, they always just rolled off my back and I continued to eat whatever I was eating guilt free. With that being said I do limit the amount of carbs I eat but it's more about having some rules in my head that I came up with: - processed food has a lot of added sugar and salt so I don't buy pre-made meals, my meals are almost always cooked from scratch - I know what I like, so when I do indulge it's something I know I really like like ice cream or chocolate instead of something that is unhealthy but I know I don't enjoy as much such as baked goods from the grocery store or things that are just straight sugar like lollipops or cotton candy. I'm intentional with the junk food that I eat and only eat it because I want it and not just because it's available. - moderation: I mostly drink water but I'll often split a can of coke with my spouse at dinnertime. If I have a candybar I don't always eat it all at once, I'll either split it with my spouse or save half of it for later.
I think everyone has some kind of (possibly) negative thing they remember with childhood for sure. I honestly wish I could have things roll off my back but I think that is something that will be a lifelong struggle. I like the rules that you've given yourself! They sound really healthy, positive and like that you do it all with intention. I can definitely learn from you, thank you for taking the time to share it!
Your absolutely right, we put a lot of pressure ourselves and when we haves a treat or a chest meal we feel as if we fail and the past week seems to be a waste because of just one meal of our favorite foods. How do we balance the good and bad and still feel like were on the right track. Our most judgemental critics are ourselves.
I'm my own worst critic!
So true ❤
So good to see you and apologies for the late viewing! Great tips! And yes, I have read that sugar can fuel cancerous tumours as well, which is a scary thought. Best to limit it, which you seem to be doing very well despite the difficulties! God bless and hope this December goes well for you!
No apologies needed :-) The more I learn about what sugar does the scarier it gets for sure! Have a wonderful December as well and happy holidays!
I've done it many times. I need to get back doing it again. Are you thinking about making it part of your weekly routine?
@NewfieLifestyle after our Thanksgiving in the US. I plan to do it again lol. Jk on blaming Thanksgiving. I would do it for the health benefits and giving my body a break.
Great insight

i gave up sugar so many years ago and yano what i've noticed? NOTHING. My life is still miserable and depressed. NEWS FLASH!!!! your diet and lifestyle does is not a substitute for human connection. if you're alone and neglected, you can't do SHIT about it with food choices. YOU CANT' DO SHIT!!!!!!!!!!
@BigIndianBindi-jy1cz sorry that you're feeling alone. Wishing you the best and i hope you find a connection soon
easy fix is to stop eating processed foods. focus on eating protein and fats and if you eat carbs then eat moderate portions of whole grains.
@@Adam-jr4lx interesting to me after only a few days of stopping processed foods how much steak I'm craving 😅
We live in a world where people think pizza and soda is healthier than steak and eggs.
@@peterkerns-l9b it's pretty sad honestly
The correct term is fructoseholic as fructose is the addictive metabolic toxin. Glucose, the other common sugar, is otoh, a non addictive nutrient. Big difference.
@homomorphic you're right but fructose-holic just doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely 😄
I actually only eat meat and water for 5 years now. Never been in better shape. But cutting sugar was hard, ngl
. Any diet that removes *fructose* will result in a life changjng improvement in health. Stopping consumption of a metabolic toxin (aka poison) improves health... who knew? Carbs otoh have their issues, but there are many perfectly healthy diets that include carbs, but the commonality is that they all include *zero* fructose.
@@Erwannsbooklife you did it though so there's hope for me 😆
@asugarholicslife yeah, it was easier when I heard it was more addictive than cocaine. Learned it from Mikhaila Peterson
@Erwannsbooklife yup, fructose specifically; fructose is also more toxic than a moderate daily dose of cocaine (and we wonder why heart disease and cancer rates are going through the roof).
@Erwannsbooklife One of the things I tell myself to help have more motivation!
Carbohydrates turn into sugar in the body. Doesn't matter what type of carb it is, its ALL sugar
Sure it is all sugar, but it isn't addictive and it isn't a toxin. The addictive toxin is fructose. Glucose is fine in moderation and moderation is easily achieved since it isn't addictive.
Totally! Carbs are like sneaky ninjas that turn into sugar when you least expect it. Gotta keep an eye on them!
@asugarholicslife glucose does not change into sucrose at any point in the human body. You've failed chemistry 101, please retake and rejoin the discussion.
😂
@@mariuschis1344 🙃
Just check the carb count, if near zero probably good.
This is what I used to do actually. But the really terrible sweeteners can still be listed as 0 carb products and 0 added sugar. Just check any soda that is listed as "zero" or "diet"
@@asugarholicslife I understand, I do a keto/carnivore diet with natural foods no artificial ingredients should be present.
@stevepolk6166 I am super interested in carnivor diet. I've never looked into it more than just a quick reference. How do you feel your body respond to it? (My ultra goal is weightloss and healing my body on the inside) Just curious, don't mean to pry
@@asugarholicslife For good doctors on this subject I would recommend Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Chaffee. Both have youtube channels. Now for me personally I try to never eat carbohydrates or sugar. Eating this way body weight is not an issue. I became interested in this diet because I have cardiovascular disease and so far my condition has stabilized and I feel healthy. Best Regards!
Thanks for the recommendations. Congrats on the success!
Did learn about different types of carbs and simple sugars a few months back. Pretty interesting stuff - seems like a lot of the added sugars, be it natural or even something that (in theory) should be *slightly* better than other sugars is still pretty bad for you. Disaccharides (eg. lactose and sucrose) take a little longer to break down so it doesn't give as much of a massive sugar spike, so that definitely helps blood sugar levels more than monosaccharides (like fructose or galactose). Really seems like the best (but still really tough) way is to limit sugar in its entirety and focus on eating more whole foods and stuff - too bad so much of our processed foods contain so many additives.Awesome work and hope you have a blessed week!
@requiem3160 thank you for a bit more of a lesson, trying to deep dive into all of these at once is a lot. Have a great weekend
Wow, what a great video. It's definitely an eye opener, and the chart will be extremely useful to start getting on the path to a healthier living.
I was thinking maybe 20 or so. I never thought there was 71. That's insane. Rober Kennedy as been given a position in the new government to get rid of the poisons in the foods and he's been given 2 years to see a noticeable difference in children's health as a result of making foods with healthier ingredients. I'm hoping that when our government changes over here in canada in the next election, they will follow your new governments new policy on foods. It's exciting to see new change coming to foods.
@@NewfieLifestyle thankful it's helpful!
How many different sugars do you think there are?
No more sugarholic 😭
@unripetheberrby6283 that's the idea but will power and motivation are still a work in progress 🤭
I think we all feel the same way after a long week at work. We just want to escape from reality and just relax. Another awesome video, one that we can all relate with.
@NewfieLifestyle it's only Tuesday this week and it's a long week already 😂
Good to see you, Amy! Ever so often, a good bit of self-indulgence and enjoyment is definitely deserved, and nice - after all, foods like that don't have to be cut off, just limited. Definitely hard not to eat more than a small bit - just ate a Tim Horton's donut yesterday morning, telling myself I'd just eat that (which would be at least half my daily sugar intake), but ended up eating another and some apple crisp thing. Really need lots of will-power and discipline, so it might be best if I just cut off like half a donut and confiscate the rest of the sweet treats if I want a small bite. Tough journey, but you've got this! Take care!
@requiem3160 I think I've tried replying to this 4 times now and it keep not posting the reply for some reason. Think you've got a good plan with cutting it in half! Hope you had a great week
@@asugarholicslife Lol, no worries. RUclips is really finnicky at times! Hope you have a blessed week as well!
*Disclaimer - I had some technical mishaps with the video. I apologize for the low quality!
With how much sugar is present in just about everything processed, there's no blaming consumers for getting addicted. Seems the best way is to slowly eat less processed foods and more organic foods, like fruits instead of sweets. Definitely a tough journey, but you've got this! Small steps and goals at a time seem to work best for this. Have a blessed week and take care!
@@requiem3160 it definitely is about going slow! Have a wonderful rest of the week!
Know that sugar cravings are not your fault. Candy and processed foods are designed to be addictive. Relapse is inevitable. Dr. Joan Ifland has some great information/ videos/ resources to help beat processed food addiction (which most people have varying degrees of). I got off processed foods, caffeine, and sugar and felt the best I ever have until I recently had a sudden loss of a loved one and I’ve also been spiraling a bit, trying to regain my footing. Staying off processed sugar for me makes me more mentally stable. When I’m on sugar and caffeine I have a very short fuse and irritated most of the time and I hate being like that! Life is too short! Good luck on your journey!!
@ev1174 I am sorry for your loss, that is incredibly hard and painful. Hang in there! Thank you for recommending Dr. Joan, I'll have to check it out. I am also one super irritated when I have sugar, it's hard to control. One more reason to keep trying to give it up and stay off it. Take care and hope you have a good week.
Well, why not start eating a diet based high on animal fat and protein and substitute candy for tropical fruits that are high in fructose (like mangoes, bananas, pineapples, watermelon, pitayas). After a while, you'll be disgusted by candy, cookies, and cakes.
Absolutely want to do this. Actually was talking to my family last night about swapping out the entire pantry for other non-processed/sugary food
Wow dude, you are in another level, no judgement, but it seems like a nutritionist would help a lot. You are currently slave of all of those commercial foods you are showing in your vid. Even tho it will sound rhetoric, but you have to stop eating all to actually get rid of all your cravings specially if you feel that you don't have control, you will have to abstain. A high carb diet, even if it is oatmeal rice etc. is a high sugary diet. One day you will wake up and be so tired of this that you will reinvent yourself and say enough is enough. There are so many toxins your body cannot get rid of and stores into fat, is not just calories, the risk of cancers etc. Your family will benefit as well when you make this decision! More energy, more power, more clarity will come after you make this decision to get rid of all high processed foods and packages food and embark in a healthy whole foods' lifestyle. You will also help many people with your channel. You can do it! Just make that decision! Get angry with your grocery shopping not at yourself because the food you are eating is making you a slave of it. I follow Dr. Mindy Pelz to a healthy approach, you can start there if you need more tool. I hope this comment help you in some way. Sugar is not happiness.
@Naniizar I kid you not. I have a friend who I have been talking to this past week about this very thing. How processed foods are so bad for you! I'm planning on trying to take that approach after doing some research and things to help with it. I really appreciate the comment, and encouragement to go in that direction. I've made the choice a lot (not to that extreme of getting rid of everything) and somehow just get discouraged. Too many emotional factors but slowly working on that too.
@@asugarholicslife When you said, “There are things I’m not going to share,” and mentioned eating until your stomach hurt, I really felt that. These corporations prey on people dealing with unhealed pain and trauma, shaping their marketing to fill emotional voids or create a false sense of comfort around their products. They sneak addictive ingredients under labels like “natural flavors” and disguise sugars with names like maltodextrin, sucrose, sucralose, and endless corn derivatives. It’s no surprise that after consuming so many chemicals, it can start to feel like an addiction. You might even be malnourished at this point-who knows? Your body is craving nourishment either way. Snacking even makes things worse. It spikes your blood sugar, followed by crashes that leave you wanting more-a vicious cycle. Next time you go grocery shopping, focus on whole, nourishing foods. Grab frozen fruits for smoothies, try stevia or monk fruit for sweetness, and don’t skip the bananas! Look for peanut butter without added oils, get collagen peptides and almond milk, make sweet potatoes, and aim for high-protein foods like beef, eggs, and chicken. Add greens here and there and prepare meals with a variety of colors. Try making vegetable broth on the side to keep yourself feeling satisfied. Stick to solid meals-like a good breakfast, lunch, and dinner-built with whole foods, not boxed junk. Trust me, once you start fueling your body with real food, managing cravings becomes so much easier. And yeah, the key is keeping the "venom" (those tempting foods) out of sight. I’m speaking from personal experience- I know girl you’ve got this!
My mother makes a lot of protein balls, it's low in sugar, and she uses unsweetened dark chocolate. She goes for them when she wants a snack. It works for her.
@@NewfieLifestyle I found some dark chocolate chips at the store the other day. Gonna have to make some with it
@asugarholicslife lilys chocolate chips and other chocolates made by lily are low carb. Most unsweetened dark chocolate has very little carbs and if you just use small amounts for drizzling over treats it's actually really good
@NewfieLifestyle I've tried that years ago, it's also great for digestive issues after you eat as bunch 😂
You're doing so well already don't forget that. Keep tricking and training your brain to crave fruit. My favorite are blackberries and blueberries.
@provostg 🙏 funny story, I went to the store a few weeks ago and found these amazing looking huge blueberries, so I bought a huge container of them because I was so excited. Got home, washed them, got my first bite.... the most incredibly sour blueberries I've ever had 😂 turned them into a protein shake so I wouldn't waste them.
Never give up , just pray and put God first

Great honest video! Sugar addictions are definitely incredibly difficult to cut through, not helped by how many added sugars are in packaged foods everywhere. So many other factors that make it worse. Awesome video. Have a blessed week and take care!
Thank you, I hope you have a good week
Social media and Hollywood have a major impact on how people see themselves. it starts at a very young age, very relatable video. I think we have all been down this road, and most are still struggling with image.
Thank you J!
Do you let loose on your birthday?
So great to see you, and very useful video! I basically only use natural peanut butter for eating and baking since it's less processed and has no added sugars, which is definitely useful. I used to believe the nutritional facts labels that list the maximum daily value of sugar to be 100 grams but apparently that entire time was a lie because 24 grams for women and 36 grams for men was the recommended maximum intake!? Gosh, I had definitely consumed WAY over that amount. Awesome work and have a great week!
@requiem3160 I absolutely LOVE the smuckers brand of natural peanut butter. Isn't it crazy how we get tricked into thinking the labels are correct? It's sad. Take care and see you next week 🤞
Have you tried Zevia Pop? It's sweetened with stevia. Give it a try, it's found in a lot of health food sections at grocery stores.
It's my favorite kind actually!
It's amazing how additive and depended we become on sugar and not sweets but foods with high levels of sugar. I wish I could become less dependent on sugary foods. Life would be so much better.
We take it one day at a time, one meal/snack at a time!
Good to see you! Glad to see your progress. Sugar cravings can be pretty intense - I do seem to want less sugar if I stay super hydrated, though. Awesome work!
@requiem3160 great tip on staying hydrated!
I'm sorry, but leaving off a sprinkle of powdered sugar, while still eating candied pecans, does not move you in the right direction. There is probably 58 times more sugar in the candied pecans than there is in the slight sprinkle of powdered sugar.
@TryMyMartini when you eat as much sugar as I have, every tiny thing you can eliminate makes it better. I agree, candied pecans have more sugar but if you're looking at these thinking eat the pecans, powdered sugar and syrup, leaving those 2 things off makes a big difference. Especially when trying to find a balance as I said. Thank you for your opinion.
@palestar828 at a restaurant you have to order it without. If I buy things, I buy them without. Not sure if that's what you meant
Im definitely a sugarholic but also diabetic so i subscribed for ways to get over that

Great to see you this week, Amy! Loving these videos - good work on your journey! Again, definitely isn't easy at all to cut sugars - they're like all over bought products. Cutting added sugar seems like a great idea - and much more doable, albeit still not easy. Keep at it!
@requiem3160 it gives me more motivation having support from people like you! Thank you so much 💛
