Can a 12 year old, build an LP86? - Drift Spot
Просмотров 7432 месяца назад
So new onto the market are a few 'simple' chassis, starting with the LP-86 which is supposed to be a simple build and use cheaper kit, to handle and drive like an old school bit of fun, like the mighty AE86. But they are also cheap, so should you buy your son one for Christmas? Is it a good starter chassis? Drift Spot is an RC Drift Club in Lincolnshire UK Add us on instagram @DriftSpotLincoln ...

Are those melamine boards?
@frenchouillard it'd 1mm pvc sheet from Vision Plastics in the UK. Lots of UK clubs use it now. Use Buzz Breaks on it. It's good!
@@DriftSpotLincoln I think that's what they call melamine or laminated board here. After few months, they dry and break like dried leaves. They become very brittle😊
@frenchouillard no it's not. Pvc is a thermoplastic and a totally different plastic to melamine which is thermosetting. Melamine is the stuff that covers worktops and is yes brittle by nature. Pvc is not. Different materials. It's not a brand name its a type of plastic and those names are global. Thanks
Lefty loosie, righty tightie. Best advice my dad ever gave me ( along with amazing life advice too ). Amazing video. Keep up the amazing work
Nice vid!
I understand the Onisiki model youre reviewing here is different than the Daruma they released. The Daruma has the end poiny settings and is a 3 axis gyro. Would you still prefer the Yokomo V4 over the Daruma? The daruma is only about $12 cheaper than the V4. Ive really liked the Daruma so far but im getting ready for a 2nd drift build lol. I appreciate your input
@LegendsPizzaCo hey there! Yes sadly they don't sell the cheap onisiki seen here anymore. And I'd love to say I know it all but I don't and I've not tried the Onisiki Daruma model so can't comment. However I will say the v4 is super cheap on Banzai Hobby shop. So I now have v4 in both my cars. Thanks!
Enjoy your content. 👍
The wrap up knuckles still on this???
@Time.2.Repent the d5? (Green jzx100 in the video) they were in this. But I've since gone back to the ally yeah racing ones (just d5 pro copies essentially) as I found I could get a better front end. I have done LOTS to the d5 now and videoed it all but sadly my laptop died and lost it. Was going to do a video of all the changes. I'll perhaps video an update?
Congratulations on your build and foward speed ahead.
Just found this video and Im super excited to see it and your newest update video! Keep it up guys!
Great video 👌
Cool video!
Where can i find that track layout?
Pop us a message on Instagram and I'll sort something for you. :)
@@DriftSpotLincoln Cool i am just watching way too many videos and landed back on your page.. LOL - Love the videos by the way - I am on the other side of the pond USA
Great video, from beginners for beginners. 😊
How much do the tiles go for?
They were from Vision Plastics. 30 of them was around £650. Thanks
Awesome, thanks so much. Hope to see some new videos soon :)
Btw, can you share a link to the website and specific model? Thx
I think awd doesn't get enough love. It's not easy to drift an awd without gyro because it's much faster and takes more comittement to get sideways. However, I think it's a lot of fun because in contrast to rwd there is no assistance from a gyro so you are actually fully driving the car. It all comes down to skill vs having a good gyro and setup.
I recently purchased a Mini Z ma020. And it’s amazing to drift AWD. I still have a long way to go but finally figured that throttle control is so important to get the right trajectory into the next drift or exit form a round about.
What is this flooring? Looks pretty sweet
Pvc sheet. Vision plastics
Does it matter which orientation the Gyro is?
Nope!
Just finished building my RDX. It was an enjoyable build. Just need to install electronics and get a body and im ready to learn how to drift lol
Im deciding between the Daruma and the yokomo so thanks for this video
This is awesomeness. Can talk about the floor a little bit I am in rural Colorado and would love to have a moveable set up. I would like to know about the adhesive, company name, and shelf life. It looks so rad!
Drop us a pm on instagram? Much easier to send you the details ! Thanks
I would love to know more about the floor you are using to ! Nice vids !
The floor is pvc sheet from vision plastics
One chapter closes...and another opens. Best of luck at the new spot - looks like innthe long run it may be good for you building the community. Good luck!!!
A guy at the track did exactly the same swap. Didn't feel any difference whatsoever. The steering restriction is based on gain. My Onisiki didn't want to transition and didn't allow much manual steering with 64 gain on transmitter but 57 feels perfect.
Yes to a point. But no end points if your controller is cheaper, means over time you can damage servo. I think you can run higher gain before it happens on the yoko. I like the end point set. But agree that its splitting hairs. They don't sell that cheaper onisiki anymore. Shame. They were bargains!
@DriftSpotLincoln I guess my servo is pretty strong because it lasted 5 years without end points. Onisiki has released an updated version with end points called Fukurou but it's a shame their gyros aren't sold worldwide. And there's more competition in that range from other manufacturers like Power HD that fill the gap in.
@totallyrandomuser5760 totally agree. The cheap onisiki used to be the go to for newbies. Now it's got more features but more cost, it puts so many other choices in the way.
i ordered an absima tr4 v2 which costs the same (150eur). Hope not to get disapointed!
I think if u training more u can take a 4WD to a indoor track.
It's not about your level of control. It's the way the car slides. It's lack of angle. It's speed is too high compared to rwd and therefore you crash into others. It's not the same and almost all tracks in the UK won't let 4wd in. Sorry if that's not the news you wanted to hear.
@@DriftSpotLincoln Well u can controll the speed xD Well im not in the UK so i dont rlly care
I just installed one of these and it was an odd build for me! I have the Same Chassis!!
Does the RDX gearbox need grease?
Yes it comes with a tube of black grease in the kit. 👍
Ok thanks 👍
And I was thinking of getting the yokomo rd 2.0
I just got the bug for this hobby after seeing 1 too many RC indoor drift track shorts. I picked up a Haiboxing 1/18 4wd drift car and loved it. I immediately after got a 1/10 kyosho fazer mk2 4wd drift car from my local hobby store and I don't regret it at all. I think a lot of people who remember owning an rc car toy as a kid think these cars are easy to drift; they are NOT. I've humbled myself many times this week on my 4wd. Build up to the 2wd proper indoor setup!
Im new to the drift car side of the hobby. Im leaning to 4wd. I will not be going to events or anythjng like that. All i have is pavement/asphalt/blacktop streets nothing smooth. Im looking to slid and just have fun. Would 4w be better than rw for these reasons? I see the rw getting stuck and just roasting tires.
Tbh 4wd is power sliding. Rwd is drifting. They drive totally differently. I know plenty who drive proper rwd outside and still love it. If its for fun. And you'll move on in 6 months. 4wd. If its more serious and you think you're going to get deeper into it. Rwd all day
Thanks, this was very helpful. I've just bought the D5 MR v2. I've built 25 plus cars so far but this is my first drift chassis and I will be upgrading as i build. Especially the drive shafts etc as you have mentioned. This is my first build getting back into rc cars. I will now be watching your other videos. Keep up the good work 👍
Sweet looks great
Is there a way to set endpoints for the Onisiki? I’m having the same issue with the lockout, and setting the endpoints in my transmitter doesn’t limit the gyros endpoints.
Not the base model onisiki ally one no. The better onisiki models have a button to set it. Check your model. If its the one I had. No. You can set the end points on your controller but that's only your steering and the gyro still has 100% unless it has the feature. Thanks
U need dual epa gyro
Yes defo does. It's my second car now. So doesn't get the use. But still love it
The ftx was originally a touring car by VRX
Would removing the driveshafts on front and fit the 3d printed knuckles work on there own
No not enough lock. Save your money and buy an RDX or similar chassis for proper rwd. The ftx is great as it is for outdoors
@@DriftSpotLincoln ok mate what size the body etc
@joshuasalisbury789 everything else can be moved over to the rdx chassis. Or yd2 would be good too. You'll need a gyro. Onisiki make the cheapest good one
@joshuasalisbury789 if you meant the body on the ftx. It was just a cheap ebay one. Do a search for 1/10 rc body on ebay and browse!
We’re can I get brake rotors and calipers for a Sakura d5 mr evo v2?

Nice video!
What are you using for your walls?? Our club is looking for wall alternatives. Thanks Matt
It's window fitter edging trim. Get it off screwfix or the like. Think ours is 45mm x 5mm stuff. Flexes well but holds shape too
🤣 *PromoSM*
What does that mean?
Nice🎉
Nice video guys!
❤ very cool car 👑🔥🏆♥️😎🌞🤣💧😇👉😊😄
Complete agree with this 👌🏼 might be worth trying the gear diff out of your yd2 in the Rdx. Helps with tighter corners 👍
Thanks dude. I watched your video! So I've already put my ball diff in for next week. The yd2 is already up for sale fully back to stock so the gear diff might go with that sadly. Way I see it is the ball I can setup depending on surface a little easier. The gear one although you say its better it's harder to adjust. I ran my gear diff with 150cst in too so it's probably similar to your thin oil!
@@DriftSpotLincoln aaahhhh ok. I assumed you had a yd2 sitting around and it’s something easy to try 👍 but yeah ball diff is the ultimate move 👌🏼
@@FPSRCDRIFT yeh essentially have both lying about. Haha. So ball diff is in. Motor is now high to try that. Rear camber to 1.5deg for the valinos. The rest is stock. What else did you change?
great video.... i can see ur kit move faster when using ball diff ... nice explaination..
Love the videos bro…
Thanks dude, try to be as honest and simple as possible. No agendas here, just opinions and content! ;)
Cool video!
Looking good bro 💪
Thanks dude.
its recommended to use graphite instead of carbon fiber for flex decks because cf has a tendency to "spring back" while graphite is more lenient during flex
Interesting thought. Never considered this. Thanks!
Someone 100 years ago, invented SHOCK. you know that thing that prevent, "spring back"
Looks great what tires are y’all using ?
Mst silvers or valino 08c. Thanks!
