Only 1 tap will move

Saturday 11 May 2024 I have just managed to stop the leak in my tap following your instructions. Being a woman unscrew the cartridge was the difficult bit as I need it a bit of muscle strength but I managed at the end . Only vinegar worked for me when cleaning the cartridge bits a pieces . Again I was surprised as I could not see and scale accumulated in the cartridge . BIG THANK YOU . Great video Oh I forgot to mention also when I changed the cartridge I learned that I could change the direction of the close and open of the tap lever . Before the lever closing position was forward towards the kitchen sink , now the lever is backwards toward the wall , leaving me more room / space on the sink . I AM SO HAPPY !!!

How do you know which tap is leaking? ie. Cold or hot?

Bicarb and white vinegar when mixed neutralise each other and create water. The only action you will get is the fizz which by its action may remove any loose bits but chemically it won’t dissolve limescale. Just use white vinegar or lemon juice. Apart from that excellent video 👍😁

Why does the boiler need to be pressurised in order for the hot taps to work? surely the central heating system is separate to the hot taps system, isn't it? And we're pressurising the heating system and not the hot water. I'm baffled. please explain.

Great video, should help me fix my tap so I thank you but, next time try it without bicarb as all it is doing is to make the vinegar less effective as vinegar will remove the limescale as it's acidic and calcium carbonate lime scale is alkaline and the bicarb is also alkaline. So in this use it doesn't make sense.

My right button isnt working, doesnt open the water, i can turn it all day long and nothing will happen. I don't know what esle to do.

how do you know which side is leaking?

I took the little screw out of the cold side of the tap and the tap lever didn't come off? Was there any other steps to take the tap lever off? I've tried everything? Pulling it off, twisting it back and forth. But it's still attached!

I cant seem to undo the nut. Seems very strongly tightened. Any tips?

How did you know it was the right hand cartridge? Is there also an also a cartridge in the left side lever? Sorry I’m a complete novice and thanks for video 👍

Just watched your video and tomorrow I’m going to fix my dripping Blanco mixer tap. Thank you for your time posting this video. I’m a pensioner and determined to stop this dripping tap.

My pressure is right but it still cuts out with e1 error 🤷‍♂️

I turned the valves like it says and it died and turning the valves back and forth does nothing and doing reset reset does nothing. The pressure indicator says high and the temperature is cold. No lights are on.

The tap cartridge is only a fiver from Screwfix. I’m in a hard water area and the brass in the cartridge was very tarnished. The only problem was that there are loads of types of tap cartridge so it’s better to take the cartridge to the screwfix and they’ll match it up

This is a good temporary fix. However, if your boiler is consistently losing pressure and the inlet water pressure is OK then the internal expansion tank likely needs to be re-charged or replaced.

It looks like, i will have to buy a new swan neck kitchen tap. After 3 years of fitting it… it now 💧 drips all the time, after constant use. Unfortunately, there’s nothing i can do about it, at the moment. i took the little screw out; but not able to take the pull lever off at this stage. Fitting a new swan neck tap is very easy, anyway; and it doesn’t cost very much. It only takes around 5 minutes to complete the task; with all the original existing bits that come with it. Will have a look at the original swan tap and see what i can do with it. Other than that… it’s a lovely looking swan neck tap; would not change for another design. Thursday pm 18th January 2024. Hello,just discovered a leaking mixer tap and thanks to your tutorial think I can tackle this job. Thinking it might be a washer replacement but only washer I saw was the blue ring,like you said if that is deteriorated then find a replacement, but firstly do as you have done and see if that works. Thanks again for your video,before it's saves people hundreds of pounds according to the other comments.

Interesting, I'll have a go. Our tap is only 18months old and we bought it because it seemed more substantial. So I'm not very happy. Our last tap was a much cheaper type and was still good after 12yrs.

The drip is gone and sanity is restored!! Couple of slight differences with the tap but the principle was the same. Thanks for posting. Not all heros wear capes 🙌🏻
