Doesn't the coral have to completely leave the hp station b4 it gets picked up by the robot?

we agree, this was just testing using an old competition robot from 2023! we try to use whatever we have in the shop to learn

Not sure what this is or why on earth RUclips recommended this to me but that looks like its supposed to feed the section of pipe into something and looks like it might be more effective if it had some kind of belt going around the groups of 4 wheels on either side.
Yeah this is for a robotics competition and its supposed to intake the pipe into that orientation

Something seems to be wrong in the way the coral is interacting with the reef here. On the field tours it doesn't go all the way down, instead getting stuck on the bends. FYI
We built the Reef out of wooden beams (our standard 5x7 cm) and 40 mm pvc pipes with pipe connectors. These do not come in a 35-degree angle, so the L4 reef top part is at 45 degrees currently and therefore the coral is able to slide further down.
I see a gray sb120 there... Your batteries might be more compatible with fellow sb120 teams if you use blue ones as they are a more popular key type.
Have you guys tried using 3d printed wheels? My team just recently tried them out and they made a way bigger difference then we expected.
What wheel/tread types are you using on your modules?

What gear ratio are you running? My team is using falcons with a 64:1 ratio and I'm having a problem where when I disable it, it drifts down and touches the ground. Are you using a latch or something to hold it at a certain height or am I missing something?

The best way to solve this issue is to integrate a ratchet into your climbing mechanism. This can simply be a ratchet spanner attached to a length of hex shaft which powers your climber. Although the ratchet will have to be reset every match. My team used a servo actuated custom ratchet because our climber was part of our arm mechanism.
