I was not expecting to learn about snap on tools dates. But this has changed my tools perception. I usually get cheaper options. What do you recommend for Power Tools?
Cool stuff, I find it interesting how much some tools have changed while some are pretty much the same. Thanks for letting us have glimpse at the vintage Snap-On
But the chinese grinder doesn't work unless you use a piece of tape, a small coin, and a mars bar to macgyver together a new way to hold the disc....
We have two Chinese grinders. One in use, the other in repair and spared out until the one in use breaks!
They are probably for bigger battery's posabley
Great information
You should show more custom made tools you made
I need a schedule to see when you are on Live. I keep missing it.
@@Blu_Grit_Garage Tuesday evenings at 7:00 central time every week. If we are in the shop in the evening, sometimes we go live but no set times or days. I try to put up a thumbnail a couple of hours ahead if we do that.
Or take a flat head screwdriver and separate the ends
Many times that chews up the gap and it looks unprofessional, but I suppose it can work.
@ I reckon I’ve never ran into a problem with it.
AAA Battery tech here. I use a set like this all the time. Here is a tip that im sure you already know. That tool tends to work a little better if you put the and that is opening up towards the open end of the terminal 👍
@@ashtonhartz8677 You mean insert it into the big end of the taper? I did that but it's a loose cable so that may not be seen well in the video. I didn't say that perfectly in the video, but yes, up from the bottom.
@@buffdelcampoNo i mean rotate the terminal on the tool 180 degrees and then it would be in the proper position for opening the terminal. it shouldn't really make a difference if you place the tool over the top or under the terminal. 👍
Flathead screwdriver does the same thing😂
Many times that chews up the gap and it looks unprofessional, but I suppose it can work.
LOVE SNAP-ON!!!
Cause you are fooled like all the Gucci Prada Nike, Louis Vuitton idiots
I have that problem all the time at work wish they bought quality tools 😭💀
I have soaked the pistons in the Parts Washer for a week first.
What liquid do you use in the parts washer?
@@buffdelcampo Odorless Mineral Spirits. The water based stuff just rusts out the Parts Washer Tub.
@@Blu_Grit_Garage The water based stuff seemed like weak dishwater to me. I didn't like the new mineral spirits like old stuff but it wasn't so bad. We've been using some kerosene but that stuff is flammable. Right now we have some gasoline that came from Sean O'Bryan's gas tank at NNN. It doesn't smell like gasoline and it didn't run well in his car. I wish I knew what that stuff is. It works well.
@@buffdelcampo Old Gasoline kind of smells like Kerosine0.
@@Blu_Grit_Garage This stuff doesn't smell like gasoline. This has a smell I can't identify and I thought I knew every chemical smell. Sean said it came from a 91 octane pump that wasn't used much and it clogged his fuel filters. It smells like a mix of something, I think. He emptied his fuel tank and I had an empty 5 gallon can so he put it in my can. The kerosene comes from a can of new kerosene.
Snap-on tools or Chinese zm2 you know that but you're not that bright so you're just old and you think you know what you're talking about
pin of shame
Even if they did work, it wouldnt be for long.
Could of hammered it in.
Cheap Chinese made are good for sacrificial grind/drill/weld/one-off-mod probably only use once ever customize. I have a small screwdriver modified to scrape glue out of the groove for spline for rattan seat/back.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that has to try so many times to say what I want in 60 seconds or less!! It's frustrating ain't it Buff? So many takes just to get a short to come out as something I'm happy with
I learned several takes are easier than editing.
Grumpy Buff is fun to watch! Lol
I like the new format. One of the reasons I quit watching some of the channels that have gotten really big is because they are turning into this big professional production and I don't really like that. Of course I know I get a lot of comments on my channel that I'm not professional enough on my format so you know it's just personal taste in what you know people like I guess
That's why I watch your channel and I don't pay for Motor Trend any more.
Red strip on handle is for positive terminal which is larger than negative side
Interesting. The Snap-on is tapered enough that it fits both. Thanks!
@buffdelcampo my thought was the powder coating made the tolerances off. Like they stole the schematics from snap-on but didn't take the coating thickness in to consideration. Lol
Longer video was good
Thank you.
Adds another perspective for those of us that don't create content. Interesting and hilarious at the same time.
Buff is like every boss i had as a kid!! Lots of knowledge but no patience to teach you…….ornery as hell…. I love it!😂😂😂 Get his annoyance level up just a touch higher and youve got a good formula!🤣🤣🤣
Free tools that work great! Thanks for showing us this tip
Fumbling around, unrehearsed and uncomfortable........... sounds like all of my content 🤣 Planning anything is definitely NOT my strong point. A second pair of hands to hold cameras, especially for shorts, and advise on stuff could make a difference. I really enjoyed this little 'behind the scenes' episode 👍
Kim zooming in and out and aiming the camera at the right stuff makes the video. I can't do that by myself.
I went a step further. Old free standing laundry tub with a cabinet below it, $25AU. 20L (5 gallon) can in the cabinet, $8 ebay 12v pump, screws straight into the 3/4 tap outlet on the drum, with a hose to the tub. The standard plumbing from the tub has an old sock on it to filter the used fluid running back into the drum. Add a $2 hollow brush to the hose, home made sub $40AU ($25-30US) parts washer.
Economical yet effective, great idea!
New subscriber I love your content I learn so much ❤Thank you
All clean!
Pliers in the dishwasher!!!
Thank you sir!!!
I've had a speed square in my tool pouch for years, one of those tools being a carpenter is a must!😊
I had a friend named Charlie Wheeler many years ago in central Calif. Good memories.
The brush that you called "This thing that you put in the drill" you can get at harbor freight in a kit called engine cleaning kit
I didn't know where Kim got those. Thanks!
I always look for a cheap 'gun cleaning' kit, lots of good round brushes.
Definitely sir!!!!
Hey Buff. Later in the stream, seeing the Zephyr on a different angle, if you take off the back section of roof, behind the wide pillar, and the trunk lid, that would make a very nice looking ute 😁😁😁
@@TAVOAu You know that was done. Look up Ford Durango.
@@buffdelcampo Ohhh. Maybe I had seen that somewhere before, not knowing what it was, and why the lines on this looked so fitting for the 'cut' 😯
Back to the Datsun 1200 around the 1½ hour mark. We had that same 2 door fastback, and the 4 door sedan down here. Maybe 1% of the sedans still exist and been saved. Maybe about 2% of the fastbacks, and I'd say at least half the utes still survive 😆 Other small Japanese utes here, were based on the Mazda 1000/1200 and Toyota Corona RT40. Much smaller than the Courier/Mazda B series utes. The RAM 50 was called the Chrysler D50 here for a few years, then became the Mitsubishi L200 Express, when Mitsubishi bought out Chrysler Australia in 1981. Fully imported from Mitsubishi, initially running the 1600 Saturn, then growing to the 2.6 Astron in the later versions, called the Triton.
I sure miss that Datsun 1200. It was so simple and it ran so well.
Howdy folks catch the replay
How many feet are in a yard?.... well, that depends on how many people are standing in it at the time!
I was asked in a job interview once, how many one foot pieces could come from a piece of material that's one yard long. I knew they were using a cutoff saw. I told him two pieces and one big unusable drop. The guy called me a smart a$$ and I didn't get the job. Actually I was right and I thought he was looking for me to account for the width of the saw blade.
Hee. Big ones. :) Fortunately for big roughish carpentry project I should be able to use precut sizes of plywood. (I am not handiest with a circular saw between the noise and vibration and my arthritis, even if I've got a fence to clamp on for one direction. :) One day perhaps I'll have a full scale woodshop with better solutions for that. :)
Great for marking out cut lines on full sheets of plywood.
Those are nice!!!!
You shouldn't just bought a t square
@@nightowl6743 A T-square isn't wide enough and why should I buy anything when I have this already?
I wasn't there. I was back from lunch long before it started. Then had to work back late, so couldn't even get the tail end 😪
Good video Buff very important tool for framing stairs.
Lol
They sell T-squares. Now you can’t put your L-square in a corner 🤷🏼♂️
I look so foolish because I didn't tell the whole story. T-squares aren't wide enough to fit the wing fittings. A T-square would need to be extended as well, so I fixed the cheaper tool.
A primer on T-squares! T-hanks Buff and Kim!
You can also buy a T square. Used to cut ductboard.
Not that wide. Read the comment pinned to the top and my response.
Really, cant look at that angle and tell what its for? How old are you 16?!?!? Wow
