Lost Gold of the Highlands 2014
Armed with bundles of ancient maps, a leaking boat and a failing heart, this film follows one extraordinary man's quixotic and recklessly brave adventure in search of hidden treasure, in a belated rite of passage to reclaim his soul and to rediscover the meaning of his life.
From the Academy Award winning producer of SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN and MAN ON WIRE, this documentary film touches upon universal themes: dreams, inspiration and the resonating power of hope.

The Seven Sins of England | Romford 2007

Binge-drinking. Consumerism. Hooliganism. Slaggishness. Rudeness. Violence. Bigotry. All delivered with stylish references to historical English working class pleasure seeking in times many hundreds of years ago. A superb slice of social history in all its visceral glory.

I believe that plane is an SE5. They didn't exist until well into the war - late 1916, and still experimental then. In this movie, WW1 was still a month or so away. I don't know how the BBC could have got this so monumentally wrong.

An interesting interpretation of the novel. Not always completely realistic, but impressive. Only this typical British "German bashing" is annoying.

Splendid locales, but odd errors. In an early scene the spy calls the protagonist "..a WW2 veteran" ...in 1914?

Sad, the train is clearly wrong in blood and custard early BR coaching stock plus a bi-plane with forward through the prop machine-guns which hadn't been invented in 1914.. Why don't they make a little bit more effort to get things right?

I’ve loved all versions of this film even though none is exactly like the book, what film ever is? Loved all the leading men too although they’re all so different. Robert Donat, Kenneth More, Robert Powell and last, but not least, Rupert Penry-Jones.

This latest version is not bad albeit with the script considerably changed from the original. IMHO the second version (1959) starring Kenneth More remains the best.

Terrific movie! I’ve liked all of the versions of 39 Steps but this is my favorite by far. None of the versions follow the novel very closely and I’m ok with that. This is the most entertaining of a good group.

This line: "I'll get my goggles". Mon Dieu. Little things scattered through out. That's the beauty of a good script. (But: "We'll follow you." Oif.)

Truly lovely. BUT there is still a great version o f the story in the original (?) black and white movie. I love that one. Totally different, in a way and you could watch it too and not be bored. Richard Donat, Alfred Hitchcock. 1935...Seems to be a few others over the years, First one was great enough....
