Part of me wishes there were bonus points for at least beating a/some characters in a team battle. I feel like some characters like Dyspo and Toppo would have benefitted from that.

I hereby disagree with the math teacher. Assuming all combatants are competent enough to be a threat individually, 1 character fighting multiple opponents at once is worth FAR more than .25 points per extra opponent. It is harder to fight multiple threats at once than it would be to participate in multiple fights; And it's obviously unfair that if you were to have split up the combatants into 1v1 pairings with the same result that the points the combatant stands to gain skyrockets. Bare minimum, it should have been 1 point each assuming all were knowably threats. Vs Army battles being the obvious exception here due to each individual member of the army clearly being much less capable than the opposing characters.
