Erik the RD/Registered Dietitian, is the founder of Go Native Farms. He has been interested in nutrition, exercise, health, gardening, agriculture & Native American Culture/art for much of his life. As he worked as a Registered Dietitian in hospitals, clinics, and dialysis centers he came to realize that most of the diseases Americans die from are directly related to our diet and lifestyle. He also came to realize that many of these diseases could be prevented or reversed through positive diet and lifestyle changes. Erik has worked & lived on many different Native American reservations & collected the now rare seeds that once provided Native Americans with great health. Unfortunately, he has seen many of his patients become sick as they no longer follow the old Native American diet and lifestyle. Erik encourages all people to follow a lifestyle closer to the ones that our native ancestors (from all around the world) used to follow. Please eat a whole & organic diet while staying active

In this video, you can see a clear difference in weed growth in the areas where I tilled versus where I did not tail. There is much more invasive weed growth in the areas where I did rototilling. So if you do not want weeds then you should consider no till or limited till gardening.
Hail damage in the garden! #organicgardening #haildamage #organicfarming

In our area, we do get hail in the summer which can reek havoc on the crop sometimes. We were lucky that the hail was not too big or it could’ve destroyed a lot of the garden.

I wanted to thank everybody for watching, subscribing and sharing this video. I recently went out to visit TJ in White Mountain Apache lands and we did two more videos on the drums and bow and arrow's he makes. He is making a bass drum for me out of my elk hides. Nice baskets
Thank you so much 😊
We get those, too. It takes time before red wigglers come to assist in the garden, so we have grubs to do that work. They turned a foot of sheep litter into a few inches of castings.
interesting
Those are beautiful. Are they the ones you showed growing this past summer? Very nice.
In this video with them sitting on the table I had never grown these at the go native farm location. I grew them several years back in Zuni. I will have to eventually put up an old video of when I grew them several years ago.
@GO_NATIVE_FARMS very cool. I think we can see some Zuni lands from here on a clear day.
Good looking birds you've got there. 😊 Are you planning on breeding them and supplying poults locally, or meat, or? We finally got some broody hens that hatched out 11 poults this summer. It's so much easier when the mamas care for the babies compared to brooding babies from the hatchery! We are off grid outside of St Johns, looks like we're kind of neighbors. Best wishes for the holidays!
I’ll have some available when they start laying in spring. Being off grid can be a little more challenging in raising chicks. If you check the local craigslist you may see them listed in spring. :-)
As long as the weeds don't overtake your crop you're ok. I'd probably take a weedwacker to them just below your crop. Also why not amend the planting hole and not the entire space.
Very cool! Corn will variegate and cross pollinate. What you plant ain't always what you get
Very nice garden. Interesting motive of preserving seeds. Liked & subscribed
can you train a bird to be a southern fried fillet?
I will get to work on that. Lol.
Hedgerows are good for protecting plants from the wind. Planting stuff like blackberries and other bushy fruit plants along your fence will help.
I was thinking about planting grapes on the fence
@GO_NATIVE_FARMS those would provide excellent 👌 protection.
@@GO_NATIVE_FARMS those would provide excellent protection.
Beautiful and very healthy looking!❤
Great fishing bait.
Thanks 👍
🔥❤🔥 love it! Beautiful spot! Great looking greenhouse! I bought some land in southern AZ recently, it'll be a couple years before I move to it but very excited! I'm glad I found your channel, I just subscribed.
Yes, this was our first year growing in this spot and we had a huge harvest. Try to get a hold of some alpaca or sheep manure :-)
@ Congratulations on the harvest! Excellent advice, I will for sure!
Beautiful horses.. awesome to see them so relaxed and chilled.
They are!
Congratulations finding so much free chicken feed!
Yes, they enjoyed it
Why are your walkways so wide? You could fit another row of crops down each.
Partially to allow the vines to spread out. Also, it was my first year, so I cannot complete everything in a short time frame. I did have my cornrows closer together for better pollination.
This is good 👍🏽 Blessings to our four leggeds 🐎🙏🏾
👍🏻 yes
wow, you grow so much corn I really like eating corn

I have Hashimoto's disease. I'm f66 and only got diagnosed 11/2020 despite having hypothyroidism since 9/1994. I have been diligently working for the last 2 years, detoxing my body. It's been tough, but the freedom from inflammation has been priceless. I mean my lymph nodes were swollen to the size of a softball under my left arm. That's the symptom that got my NP to order the Hashimoto's test. Our food production has changed over the last 60 years, and it's killing people literally. Glad you're saving and planting these seeds. Wishing you and your family the very best and Many Blessings
Thank you 🙏🏻
Beautiful
Thank you
They kind of look like dried cranberries. They're so pretty.
They remind me of pomegranates
Chickens come from the jungle. Snow is not their style 💞
Oh NO! I'm sorry you had this problem! I'm glad you can work on several different solutions.
That turkey telling us all about what it's up to is hilarious! He sure does have a lot to say! So do the girls. Lol. just standing there and talking to you, hoping for more snacks, probably. That's a beautiful construction. It looks great! I hope everything works out for you and the birds. Pigeons too? I had thought about getting into pigeons. They have a lot of benefits to them and they seem to be really personable. One of our "rules" is that we won't have livestock that we can't eat - just on the off chance of alien invasion or zombie apocalypse or something. I haven't been able to find squab in the stores, so can't say that we would or would not eat it. So, final determination on whther or not we'll get into pigeons is waiting until after that. I have to say that the idea of a full pigeon coop, with healthy birds, just seems like a warm thought. The chickens and geese are more than enough for me, though. Now that I'm getting some things taken care of, the pressure will let up and I can get them going aong as I want. Best thoughts on this Monday!
Pigeons are great. I used to raise them as a kid. Just make sure you get them from a clean source so you don't bring in any diseases.
Chiga
this does not work with mine apparently
Cool Eastern Screech Owl
Cool duck
WOW! I forget it's November until I see something like this! You have several inches of snow! Those turkeys had something to say to you! Very chatty birds. It's wonderful that the electric heated water bowls worked for you. Thank you for sharing the success! Was it difficult to run a protected line out? Do you recommend protection for a power cord, a permanent power installation, of something else? I hope the Cemani adapt to the weather. The thing I hate most about winter is when a bird gets frostbite. Frustrating! I hope you don't have that problem with your mixed flock.
They can be chatty.
Levitating pumpkins just mean you're a wizard! Yeah, I've used old barbecue skewers to punch through fruits and vegetables (and certain meats and other things...) and then hung those up with heavy garden twine on both ends. I learned to not balance them, or rig something so that the skewer was suspended from one end or the birds would use it like a swing. I need to pull those out again. There's some apocryphal evidence that says various types of squash might have a (gentle, natural) deworming effect on chickens. I haven't done a whole bunch of reading on that specific topic, but everything from cucumbers to winter squash is suggeste for that. My birds seem to like different squash in differing amounts depending on time of year, type of squash, and what mood they might be in. I haven't seen anything to prove or disprove the Old Wives' Tale, Take it as having the value for which you paid. (It was free advice, so ...) They look happy!
Many people claim the pumpkin seeds are a good dewormer. I did buy some pumpkin seeds to feed them for that purpose as well. I may try ivermectin once a year.
They look so happy and healthy! You can really see the size difference between the breeds! Thank you for that! The Royal Palms are beautiful and perfect for the smaller household, but that gorgeous Slate Grey turkey is so stately! What a beautiful morning!
They are pretty healthy and hearty. They can tolerate very cold winters. The Royal Palm do weighed the least of all of them.
My cockerels are starting to sound off, too. It's so funny to listen to them as they learn to crow. It looks like your apron is goat fence? Yeah, I use multiple types of fence for different things. Right now, I'm able to put all my separation pens inside a chain link fenced area, so I can skip over some of the more sturdy predator defense and go straight for chicken wire - no need to keep dogs and stuff out, the chian link does that. It looks like a lot of work and overhead handwork, but it'll be fantastic when you're done. Planning for future expansion is great! Being able to add in what you think you'll need is amazing. Great job! Love the plan and how you're getting it all done. Beautiful birds. They look healthy and happy! Those Red Bourbon turkeys are quite the decent size! The Delaware cockerels are so big!
Thank you. At the very bottom I put down a welded wire. The bourbon red can get up to 33 pounds. They are a good looking bird the royal Palmer about 22 pounds I've read.
Great job! I love my blue corn. Thanks for sharing. I am curious, how deep did you plant? How many seeds per hole and how far apart were your stations. Any corn smut? Also any red ears? What about random colors kernels? Thanks again!
No corn smut in my area. I plant my seeds anywhere from 3 to 6 inches deep and I put them about one to 2 feet apart. I did grow a beautiful Santa Domingo red cord in the 2024 year. I'll put up videos from that when I can get around to it. I'm behind on putting up videos and finishing off the 2023 year..
I love these baskets. I collect them. His work is absolute perfection.
He's a fabulous artist.
A spectacular video Steven, so glad you still have lots of cacti and succulents. I miss New Mexico sometimes, but have made it down there a couple of times since we moved back up North here. Hope you are both doing well these days!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Steven, really appreciate and enjoyed this video of your greenhouse. It was very exciting to hear your voice and see your plants. Robin and I are back in Lindsborg, Ks., and in the house I grew up in. Still growing mostly Mesembs. I look forward to coming down to Albuquerque sometime as my Greer road Sandy loam is running a little bit low. It is the best soil I've ever used. Sincerely, Paul 😊😊😊😊 8:16
Glad you enjoyed it!

The baskets are beautiful
Yes, he's a beautiful basket maker. I will be meeting up with him again this week to have him make a drum for me. I'll see if he has any more new baskets available and make a video.
What gorgeous birds! That goose had opinions and wanted to chat! The turkeys, call ducks, and pigeons were gorgeous! Love that there are so many different pigeons (I'm interested in them, but ...) Call ducks are just too cute for words. Those bantam chickens were something! The Modern reminded me of game cocks and the "chicken supermodel" type. Silver Penciled anything look like blank coloring book pages. Love them! I'm afraid to go to a show for fear of trying to take home too many birds. What a fantastic place!
I was running out of room on my phone so I had to go kind of quick. There are a lot more birds there that were pretty amazing that I did not film.
incredible work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Fish and game use traps all the time. Its the best way to catch elusive animals and population management. Nice of you to help out
Some states allow for leg traps like that, but I still think it’s inhumane. They do have other live traps that would be more ethical. Also, fishing game said the legal traps are not supposed to be catching wild birds.
@@GO_NATIVE_FARMSfair enough, it can definitely be gnarly haha. the wolves and such where iam are to shy so we use holds.
Beautiful and may he have the greatest of success. Aho
Yes, he has fabulous work. I am loading two more videos on his drum making and bow and arrow making. Hope you enjoy them.
@GO_NATIVE_FARMS that is great and thank you
I'm wondering if you can tell me something about this pattern
what?
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOU COMMENTS!! IM Still working on my etsy store site. But i can also work with you through my email.
Where do i go to find those amazing works of art ?
His contact information are in the descriptions below the video.
That's awful. I hope you're able to stop the trapping. Just ... it hurts my heart to see all the wildlife dead from that snap trap. While I was training for Wildlife and Fisheries, we had to work with all kinds of traps and nets - some of them so we could use and dsable them, some of them because they're used by Fish and Game and in WIldlife research and management. I saw so many mangled and dead animals during that time that I swore I would never use a snap trap that didn't kill immediately or glue trap at all if I could avoid them. I keep a live trap. I use it for the critters that come to eat my flock. I do my best to be humane about it though. Humans can just suck, sometimes.
Wow that’s tough. Was that a legal trap?
Fishing game said no, it was not legal.
