why spend alot of $ on shooting sticks. make your own.
Nest idea. Best I've seen. Thanks.
The best sprinkler known to mankind. They weigh 30 lb. There's a couple of different styles the A5 is their latest probably the best. Look for one that has extra weights on the rear tires but you don't absolutely need it. National sprinkler just went out of business but you can still buy parts online they're heavy heavy cast iron
No fire
An excellent idea using the shell casing it is a Bulletproof idea. One hundred percent cotton cloth is critical no cotton poly blends. Other natural fibers also will work.
I’m 12 yrs too late. But that’s a really awesome idea!
I ve been toying with that same idea yea show us
No demo?
Has the copper corroded? I see this video was made 12 years ago. Also, do you would stainless steel tubing work just as well? I know absolutely nothing about this style of fire starter.
Awesome! Great job, and thank you.
great ideas Mr. Brown..thanks
That was brilliant!
ready made o ring grove, now that's cool
Hello, I tried to make it. But the piston with 2 rings. Still have pressure inside but it didn't work. I would loved to share with you mine to have a look.
Awesome! Gonna test making one.
That’s a really nice twist! Allowed a lot of efficiency. I think I’ll give it a try myself. I sure hope that people asked for the tutorial, because I think I’d like to find it to guide me along a little more efficiently. :-) Thank you very much!
Show me how to build it with a 9mm casing..
nice job, good reason to live in the us, we cant have ammo over here in Spain!! Next time you make char cloth roll the denim in to a tight cigarette roll style and then put them in the tins and fire them, makes a much better charcloth that way!! really nice build. Now where can I get several spent shell casings!!
GOOD JOB SMART IDEA!!
Like who wouldn't like this ?? There is all kinds but WTF !!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
I have one of these where the arm, just medial to wheel on the right side, labeled "LXR" is a little too loose on the axle. It allows the claw to fall medially to the large wheel, sadly stopping the device and it freezes. I could fix it if I could either 1)replace the arms, "LXR" and "LXL" or buy a wider claw. No more parts available though. Anyone can think of a solution?

I don't think it's about new things, but honesty, I mean, your process is life, not just info, we share a part of your experience, Unique and centered in your words, description and goals. It is never the same.
Awesome idea! Thanks.
Love its.
great idea, thanks
Stumbled upon your video. Very ingenious design and time tested. Thanks for the review.
after many failed attempts at just using a wooden dowel with an o-ring, I went this route as I reload myself,, works great, compression is ridiculous tho, its a 2 hander to get it to work lol, lights punk wood and char cloth easily.thanks
what on earth is punk wood?
Thanks Bill belichick for giving us an honest review
he is slow.
This guy sounds like a Tom Green character. Uncanny.
American ingenuity right there.
I have two of these over a fairly rough lawn. As long as you don't make sharp turns, the only time it gets hung up is on the actual hose joint. And that's usually a repair joint with a hose clamp. The National Walking Sprinkler site has good maintenance info on these...and parts. The company used to have a video on timing one of these, but it has disappeared. I only use 5/8" hose for the volume. If you buy a new one, be sure to splurge on the steel gear instead of plastic. The old ones were steel, but the tight wads among us forced them to produce 'cheaper' models. Old story of stepping over dollars to pick up pennies.
please show how you made it
exelente firepiston good
what do you call the end cap and where did you buy?
Do they not make these anymore? Where did you get this?

You can still buy that mostly on eBay. Parts also
Been using jean material for years. Love it
I built my fire piston using copper tubing also. It's sturdy and indestructible. But integrating a 7mm Remington Mag is just cool.
Thank You . Nice
I know this is an old vid, but just saw it tonight. I ran out to Tractor Supply and got a bag of 100 bands for $2.99! Any chance on a vid of how you did your knots?
Good job that's what I tell my boys is thinking out of the box very impressive an old way of building fire with a new twist good job
Would have really love to see this in action‼️ you have everything you needed right there in front of you? That was like baking a five layer cake and then not cutting into the center!!!
show me how
How the hell did you get the beans over the frank?
We got a bleeder!
Love idea, but I live in the uk. Getting hands on shells is very hard. Any ideas on getting any used ones.
Move to the good ole US of A
A bit late with reply, but Wikipedia is good as it lists all dimensions of different cartridges. I asked a friend for any cartridges and he only had a 300 Win, and Wikipedia confirmed it had the same base diameter of the 7mm Rem mentioned in the vid, meaning I can use with the 1/2 inch tubing. Or as another comment states - used 3/8 tubing with a .223 shell.
Clever idea, but I suspect the brass casing, being more dense than wood, will absorb some of the heat you generate with the piston. Clever ideas are not always better ideas, but it looks good on paper.
I suspect you’re wrong, I made one, it works great, alot of compression tho
you can always use epoxy to attach the endcap

Very nice hack for a fire piston. It cuts out some extra work in the build.
Great idea
Great video! Really like your concept of the 7mm shell casing. Brass wont wear down on end as the oak cavity for the char cloth would eventually do.Besides the natural grove for the o-ring.WELL DONE. Thank You Very Much !!
