So many of GHOST's older songs seem to have a soul that newer ones just don't have, or make up for with overproduction and more instrumentation. I'm not saying that their newer songs are bad; I love them, but there's something just so much more profound about this song and its instrumentation than its remake. It's a uncomfortable yet familiar, beautiful yet ugly mess; like it came out of the very depths of the human soul. It sounds like agony, and that's precisely what a song like this should sound like.

I confess: I prefer this to the remake. It might be a 'worse' song compared to the newer version, but it's a perfect representation of complete and utter madness and insanity, and I love it for that. The new version sounds too structured and calm.

Coming back to this is so emotional for me. Back in 2014 when I first found their music it really held a place in my heart and would be the reason I found some of my very first internet friends. I'm sure a lot of new fans missed the era of GHOST absolutely DESPISING this song. It was the most requested to be remade and fans wouldn't stop pestering about it. One time through tumblr they posted about a group chat (I do not remember what site it was hosted on for the life of me) but MAN I was so excited to talk to them. Although I made a joke referencing this song and I SWEAR I was dead meat 😭 (I think everyone else thought so too LMAO) but I think they found it funny lol. Its nice to just reflect on a point in my life that was positive for me. I highly doubt GHOST will ever come back to these songs for a remake but it'd be super cool to see one remade from the ground up to really show off how much they've improved and changed! but anyway this comment is my indirect thank you for the impact on my life. I didn't have many great things growing up but I am grateful this was one of them.
