Emtech - ZM-2 LED, Diode, Resistor combination - How-to.
How I put the three components together before I install in the faceplate. The ZM-2 uses a simple bridge to measure SWR.

What did you do to key your rig?
My key has an "on" lever ("circuit closer") in this photo provided by KD2UJ: www.kd2uj.com/telegraphy/my_keys/Top_L.png
Hmm... when I applied the Krylon the ink on the label ran.
Please please please consider resurrecting this kit.
With so many radios with 20W now, like the G90 and Fx-4CR, what would it take to increase from 15W to 20W? Would just upgrading the toroid work?
Is this process done on the factory built units?
What role does the multimeter play in this tuning video?
I’m happy to have placed an order for the pre-built tuner. The experience and skill in your production process is easily worth the cost of assembly, especially when I contrast with what I could achieve with the kit.
That ladder line dual banana adapter is quite clever, I looks homebrew and that I can't seem to find anything available online with the same functionality seems to support that assumption. Upon inspecting the video it looks like you modified one of those twin banana to BNC adapters with some screws to tension the connections but it's hard to tell in a video this old and low resolution... At any rate built or bought, I'd love to know the details as I'd certainly like to have a few on hand for my adapter case and field kits
Fantastic mini-tuner! but a doubt: could it work to also tune with a pure receiver for SWL?..
Technically it would not provide gain, nor improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR). For receive, it could act as a band pass filter, helping to rejecting near frequency interference. Ideally your antenna would be the exact or the exact fractional length of the received signal to get best received signal and best SNR.
@@ScottGregson Thanks a lot for your detail explanation,. I think so too!.
Interesting. It would be a nice improvement if the decal had the sticky on the front, and if a laser cut clear plastic front panel is used. The decal would stick to the panel, and the front of the panel, solid plastic, would protect the decal from any kind of abuse. This is how the plastic display of the Lowe HF150 radio was done.
Real sharp tuning == high Q.
A good temporary light box is a cellphone with the flashlight turned on under a glass baking dish or clear Tupperware-like container. Worked like a charm for me. Also agree about the Krylon clearcoat. I laid down several coats and got a deep, tough plastic finish that looks like a silkscreened panel, rather than just a piece of paper. Thanks for the hint about hanging the surface vertically; I ended up with some dust in my layers. Not immediately visible, but you can see it if you look carefully. And I know it's there. Nice video!
Wish I'd watched this _before_ I built! This is an easier approach, no doubt.
I built this Kit last night. Love ❤️ IT. I should have watched this first. I might have to order a second one :). Thanks de KB2QQM
I just built this last night. Great kit ! Its amazing. It tuned my 50 foot vertical that only my giant palstar can tune. Had a nice qso with my old Norcal 40 3 watt radio Jim Cates sent out to me 23 years ago. Brought back many memories of my youth. Thank you :) de KB2QQM
How do I get a replacement Faceplate Decal I sprayed mine with a lacquer and the print ran. Are they available to buy? I did actually email you but have had no reply to my request, so I thought I would ask on here dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22562965/2016-06-22%2021.57.02.jpg cheers Mark G0NMY
I have just ordered one online 5 mins ago and it is far cheaper than the Elecraft T1.
Thanks... I had bad results with other clear paint... Decals got ruined on a different project I was working on.. fortunately I had extra decals...
You can find it on his website. Own one myself, and honestly I haven't used any other tuner that comes close!
That guy needs a shave
Nice lighting and audio.
not bad, Schematic diagram would be most helpful!
