My legit copy of Pokémon red was originally the one with the original E rating label that’s white. After Nintendo sent me a replacement battery for the game, I got the revised black E rating label version.

I think you got that backwards. Isn’t the misprint copy the first print one. Which is why it’s corrected on later copies.

For anyone with a copy in UK, don't compare it to this video version, the UK one has so many differences, even inside the box that giant recycle symbol isn't there, they also still have the gba slots and much more differences..... And yes my is legit, it was bought new at launch.

I know I'm saying this two years after you uploaded it, but this video here is why I've been SO wary about purchasing a copy of SoulSilver and how important it is in knowing how to spot a fake. I still haven't purchased yet because there are more imitations than I've thought, not to mention how expensive the copies are, but I'm waiting for the right moment and when I know for sure that it's legitimate. Wouldn't be possible without this video.

The top of the real games should have like a lil rectangle in the middle , supposedly it’s for the pokewalker but that wasn’t introduced until heartgold and soul silver , but I have noticed that it is on diamond pearl and platinum, so that’s another way to tell

Wow so it is actually real, I have a friend that has one (console only) and he said he got it for around $230. I did not find many information about the US release so I thought it was fake, it seems he got a very good deal then, I did not even find any sold on eBay.

My grandma bought me one years ago, and i was so happy. Sadly, it was stolen, and tho this day i remain heartbroken. I want to get the same model again, so thank you very much for this video, so i don't end up being scammed

To me the most obvious visual difference in the cover is around 7:25 - if you look at the edges of the background swirl and the little strandlike brush spots, they're way more pronounced. They almost have an embossed/raised look on their edges. The fake one is much more muted in its contrast and those don't stand out as much. Edit: At 7:24, the swirl pattern at the very bottom of the case is also different. The fake has a 'blotch' of circular ink at the bottom the real one doesn't have.

Man that box is pristine. Game boy boxes always got thrown away or heavily damaged. Kind of jealous but very nice for your collection.

One tell tale sign for me is the E for everyone on the fakes has a like a white box around it and none of the original ones have that so that’s something you can watch out on those really good repo ones!
