From STRUGGLING as a 30 yo BROKE Psy grad to TECH 🤑(& you can too)
Просмотров 39510 месяцев назад
Here's my story from broke to thriving in tech as a 30 yo broke, stuck, unemployed worker to now working as a Programmer Analyst. Have you ever felt like breaking into the tech industry is impossible without a technical background or prior experience? This video is for you! Want to get into tech but don't know where to start? I feel you. 😩 I broke into tech with no cs degree, no tech experience...
Good info.
No one is hiring GenZ or anyone close to that age. Just not worth the nightmare. Get use to it unfortunately. Start a business.
People need to learn to smoke it helps- but they were lied to (about everything) 🤯
Also why tf we make a resume, the have to answer questions on everything we put in our resume while basically restating everything we put in said resume just to just not get a response
The least they can do is send you a courtesy rejection email 😭
I’m going to watch this while I take a break from crying in between applications. This shit sucks.
I know it's frustrating, don't give up 🙏🏽
Sending you a virtual hug my friend
Same I have had 2 panic breathing attacks following heavy sobs… it’s rough out here 💔 I used to be able to get a job with the snap of my fingers when I was a teenager and now I am an adult and have probably been rejected over 500 times and I decided to just start my own business from scratch on the side because this market is sus. Wtf happened 😨
Applying as one of the first applicants is one of the best and most underrated tips.
Thank you. It's harder to do nowadays, I usually sign up for reminders on the company's career page, has this worked for you?
Tell me about it; I recently lost y six yearlong job as an MA I’ve been looking but still have no one has reached out to me!
Do you use job sites like indeed or go to the company website?
Even if you have experience, they don’t want us. Sometimes a person is overqualified, or whatever. They just don’t hire people anymore.
overqualified, too old, underpaid, "your asking for too much", there's always something
They want ppl with experience then say you're too experienced
I’m not applying for any jobs that are asking too much personal information I’m ending up with too much spam as a result
Yes, the spam is out of control and identity theft is at an all time high. These job site need to do better to protect our data. Thanks for watching 👋🏽
Even normal jobs that are not spam ask for too much personal info like 10 references with addresses phone numbers full names age position they hold like wtf how that helps with the job
Use an AI to combat the problems created by companies using AI, which is supposed to be illegal. Right... I think we're losing sight of the problem at hand. The social contract has been betrayed and we are out of time. My only problem with your strategies are that they are reliant on norms that only liars can keep up with. No gaps in resume... Ok, life never happen? If I was hiring someone my only question would be "how long can you do nothing before you go insane?" My answer to that question is more than 5 years... That being said, I appreciate your video, keep up the good work!!!
I appreciate your feedback. The example I gave about the MBA guy with decade of exp but has gaps in his resume has to make a tough decision. What do you think he should do? Thanks for watching 👋🏽
"Social contract" LMAO
Yeah they're probably looking at people who have a gap between 2020 and 2021 and are like soooooooooooo why were you out of wooooooooork? And the interviewed person is just staring at them. Should... should we tell them what happened in 2020? Do they not know? What rock have they been under and how can we find one?
Thank you for sharing my video ❤
Thank you sir! they were instrumental in helping me pass the ISC2 CC exam! I hope others find them just as valuable!
Nice video. keep it coming!
Thank you for watching 👋🏾
Did apply to all 5..
I hope to hear good news soon. Good luck🤞🏾

4:45 this advice is what I needed to hear when I first got layed off. Please make a separate video on this! “5 things you need to do when you get laid off” or something similar 👍
Thank you for the suggestion! I agree, there's soooo much I wish I knew before
Last time I saw a reaction about this video it was an HR rep basically saying "yes it's wrong but it's so much easier for us so deal with it" and not really offering any advice, so I really wasn't expecting much. I am pleasantly surprised by your concrete advice and insight !
Wow that HR person really doesn't give AF! I saw a video from a technical recruiter a few months ago dropping 💎💎💎 it just goes to show some ppl really don't have any passion about their profession. Thanks for sharing.
Great review!
Thanks for watching! I will try to do more videos like this.

I worked 6 years in Sales for a company... 6 promotions, top sales every year and this last month I was let go... I realized that you're just a cog in the company machine and no matter your skills and worth they will replace you if they're paying you too much. Huge wake up call... You either work for someone or you work for yourself... Ive decided to bet on myself and start my own business due to this.
If you were the top salesman I seriously doubt you were let go. Companies don’t let go of their #1s , it just doesn’t happen. You make them the most money if your the best, why would they let you go? Because you cost too much?? Nahhh don’t matter if you’re #1!
I think this is why we see so many side hustles getting promoted. It's becoming a necessity to bet on yourself.
Yeah i feel demoralized like my past experience means nothing, now i. Searching for entry level roles and internships
two problem , the reference rate and that law with amortization of a software developer expenditure ... AI is not replacing the It people at this rate . also it people in management overpromising the effects of AI to hype stocks ...
Not only did I find value in this video, I subscribed! I like your delivery. Do you have any thoughts on the impact of AI on jobs like tech sales, customer success or project management?
Thank you. I am still gathering research on this, but from what I'm seeing, companies are running lean, less people doing the work of multiple ppl and there is a preference for ppl with problem solving skills with people management, B2B sales, or STEM. AI is doing more of the repetitive, data entry, reading, and some complex task but still requires humans to double check AI's output.
@@tifftechtalks thanks for your input!
I've watched each video multiple times. What really stands out is the hands-on, practical approach to explaining the tech landscape. Creating awareness and pivot strategies. My only suggestion is that the suggestions are presented in a rapid-fire manner, creating a conversation that feels dense.
If this continues for another 2-3 years, there will be mass suicide ideation at the LEAST across the United States. It is only so long that educated, experienced people can maintain their sanity as their savings drop and debt piles on. It is a slap in the face that all your hard work spanning 10 years was for nothing.
Yup im tired of it. Shouldnt be this way now i have to settle
That has always been the norm. Most just aren't aware of it because most people choose to die "quietly". What you will have is conditions ripe for revolution, as to what type? I won't know know the victor. I can only see the participants and hope it will be a people's revolution and not a bourgeois one.
If someone has a computer science degree or degree in I.T. and she or she is worried about competition with someone with just certs and experience; then that speaks more to how the degreed individual isn't the irreplaceable genius he or she thinks oneself to be. Furthermore, there are at least 500K open Cybersecurity jobs in the USA alone and some claim even higher. There's no time for gatekeeping nonsense when a hack is occurring about every 30 seconds somewhere on earth. Trained individuals are needed to fill those positions. Also, the USA isn't the only nation on earth and all other nations have need for cybersecurity professionals as well. Being "educated" should mean having the ability to look beyond surface level to the larger picture.
Biden is lying through his teeth. Trump was no better, he is a Blackrock stooge.
They’re all full of it. Lining their own pockets and leaving us in the dirt
Trump is better do your research and stop spewing nonsense
Our country and economy was way better off under DT... Quit the copium.

I wish people would realize that neither president or political party are good choices. They’re all puppets no matter who is elected. But someone still wants to argue lol
Awesome video! I am going to try some of these techniques and share the outcomes
thank you, please let me know your results!
@@tifftechtalks I tried both techniques and was able to obtain results of a few roles. Thanks again
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
They say no degrees but I just believe that’s only for “certain” people . They will in fact low ball people who are of a certain personnel who are certified with degrees .
All of my kids were able to secure great jobs recently so I don't know about traditional full time roles dying off. Corporate America hasn't gone anywhere and won't be going anywhere any time soon.
Your kids are just lucky
This happened to me/a handful of people I know. Therefore the millions of people who have a different experience are all wrong!
@taco6989 They are for sure and I'm not unaware of that. All I'm saying is that corporate America isn't dying off and shows no signs of dying off. Folks can choose the corporate route or a different route. Whatever works for them.
I work in the corporate sector, and over the past year their have been MASS layoffs. They may hire, but they'll be quicker to fire if profits aren't adding up.. and this has happened several times over the past 2 years.
The job market really ain't worth a damn now even if you have a college degree and experience. But you got to remember this is the racist United Snakes of AmeriKKKa go figure it truly is the Good Ole Boy and Good Ole Girl system and plus dirty non-English speaking foreign people who will get hired quicker on a job than anybody born in the United Snakes.
Have you sought opportunities in Africa or the Caribbean where It's all black everything?
@@abundance6484 No those Africans and those Caribbean black people don't like black American people so I will not waste my time there.
Based on your comment you need to quit the victim mentality... Its always gonna hold you back.
Nice video
My father in law was requested to get an MBA, one of the programs told him he’d be making 6 figures if he did that with them. Couple years forward he does not make 6 figures and demanded the school for compensation because they lied to him. This applies to all levels, they tell you you’re gonna make X amount when you start working and then facing reality is nothing like what they say, as you need to start at entry level and entry level positions pay next to nothing, and is HARD to get in.
I'm sorry to hear about your father in laws experience. This is why I hear people say don't go back to school unless they are going to pay you for schooling or reimburse you I for one took a chance and paid for it while I was working for the company I eventually got promoted but I did it for my long-term career plan not just for that employer.
Degrees are not needed for entering most careers but as you progress in your career degrees are desirable and musts in most cases.
Is it safe to say that ppl without degree that get their foot in the door should eventually plan on earning a degree? Or does it depend?
@@tifftechtalks I'm a seasoned technology professional and I have seen first hand that coming in as an Analyst or Implementer doesn't usually require the broad educational knowledge of degrees BUT as one progresses to a Strategist or Visionary level of his/her career where solutions and policies are defined then the fundamentals of degrees and being well rounded are needed. Besides, the higher people go in their careers the more they become brands or represent brands and at that stage profiles with solid formal education are HUGE... So to answer your question, yes, it is safe to say that ppl without degree can get their foot in the door but should eventually plan on earning a degree... The best leaders never stop learning!
@charlesayodele2407 thank you for those great points!
Its all about Competition! You're gonna need degrees, certifications, and experience, You gotta put yourself in the best shape possible just to get an interview!
Gotta stay on your toes
This is a great way for employers to get more applicants and pay less for those positions in the long term. Why pay a college grad 85k when I can pay someone with a couple certs 50k?
Good point
This is my opinion and some may not agree with me. I feel like when you go to college and you have your goal what you want to become for example, if I wanted to become a doctor then I should only take science and anatomy courses and ofcourse also take those long programs as well. And if I wanted to do something that’s related to math then we should only take math course only. If I want to be a publisher, English teacher, or something that’s related to English, then we should only take reading and writing courses. And the list goes on to other subjects. That’s just my opinion but some may argue that “then that means graduating at college will be super fast!?”
You make a reasonable point. Yes curriculum relevance makes more sense. University tends to focus on knowledge theory. Trade schools traditionally have a better approach of offering hands on practical skills. The pace of technology change requires technologist frequent retooling and realignment.
