How To Produce Better Apple Trees For Better Deer Hunting
With the Hawk cart, it it easy to load a deer in the cart, and then into the truck box by yourself?
Carts are way under rated. Even when I bought mine over 25 yrs ago, I didn't realize how useful they are. I've walked back a mile or two to hunt, with all my stuff on it. No sweat. Granted, logging roads etc., help that, and I could go further. With slight modifications....I've run it as a "trailer" off the back of the bike. Buy one once, you'll never regret it. Even useful around the house occasionally.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s an essential piece of hunting equipment. Thanks for commenting!
I had to work hard at tracking a deer today for the first time .I have had to track them before but today's was the most difficult. I had a great shot with my crossbow but as I fired a second deer spooked the one I was aiming at. The arrow hit the deer but not in the place I was aiming because she turned to run as I fired. I waited a while repaying the shot and then went to check. I was sick when I found no blood. I looked and found the arrow and it had blood but not a lot. I then started marking trees and looking for blood and finally found some. I made concentric circles branching out further each time. I didn't give up but the hills of Kentucky can be a challenge. I then went back to the first spot of blood and started over making circles even crawling and certain times (Glad ther was no video LOL). As I got lower to the ground I would see small spots of blood and I then saw a small tree that had fallen. I went up to the tree and found the deer 50 feet on the other side. Great video the things you say work. I have never crawled looking for a deer until today. Had I not crawled I may have never noticed the downed tree given the thick woods and rolling hills of Kentucky. Can't wait for the meat to be processed. She was not the biggest deer I've harvested but the fact that this amazing animal was harvested will make it extra special.
That’s terrific! I was reading your comment and I jumped to conclusions thinking you lost the deer. I’m so glad you found it. Thanks for taking the time to write your comment. Congrats!
@@bobbysbucks thanks so much enjoy your videos.
Something to add about scent. Dry, sunny and windy weather is very good at destroying scent molecules so if I have that kind of weather in the forecast I might use this time to visit some stands I need to remove or replace, etc. Be stealthy Bobby!
Thanks for taking the time to write your comment. Good luck out there!
Accidentally (long story) found one recipe for the lull. First find CURRENT, hot, good, buck sign. We're talking today and yesterday type fresh. Don't stop until you do. Then find the bedding area of the nearest doe group. Or the hottest food source in the woods near the bedding area. When I looked back on the successful hunt it literally had all 3....smoking fresh buck sign, doe beds at the top of a ridge, where white oaks were raining nuts. You gotta do some legwork this time of year.
@@stevenl4494 very true, it helps to move around. Hike with your eyes open. And don’t fall victim to hunting the same stands over and over again, which could cause a hunter to complain, and blame the Dnr for getting it wrong and issuing too many tags. More often than not, the deer are simply traveling where the hunter isn’t. Thanks for commenting.
@@TheRabbitryCenter NP....I too experienced the "lull". I just think that time might require a lot of boot leather and riding around. Things have changed at that time of the year......and they'll change again for rut.
how did the bike rack work for the year is it worth it
Yea. It’s a great rack!
No I did not , all these years hunting and this is the first one I have lost .
I’m sorry to hear that. It happens to all of us bow hunters at some point. A lot of season left. Good luck!
I am so bummed, I could hardly sleep last night .thanks for the video
You’re very welcome!
I am so bummed, I could hardly sleep last night .
I’ve been there, Best of luck and let me know if you find your deer
My question is how do you know a hunter is there? Isint kinda to late if the other hunter is hidden well?
Thanks for asking, if another hunter is there, they will signal you in most cases, with a whistle mimicking a bird. If you’re a little farther than hearing distance, they may waive in order to capture your attention, especially for safety during gun season.
Ebikes are legal in washington.
In Michigan, e-bikes can only go where off-road vehicles can go and those are no shooting zones and in most cases it’s not where public hunting is allowed.
Good luck this year! We start Tuesday in ontario
Thank you very much for watching and good luck to you!
Haven't hunted yet, but I'm a fly fisherman. I don't catch to keep. I catch and release except for the occasional meal. I've been invited to hunt with people who'd rather sit in their stands and wait years for the perfect buck. But they'll take the occasional doe for food.
I love fishing as well, hunting with your buddies is a good time and they can show you the ropes but you’ll have the rest of your life to wait for a trophy. I recommend to new hunters to harvest Deer and fill their freezer and Enjoy the pursuit. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.
PERFECT..... I'm doing a garage that needs water only... no toliet and this is what I was looking for... sink and running water without having to trench and connect to the main water line... Thank you!!!
you’re very welcome!

I’ve got a 10 acre estate in the inner city that I made into a deer haven. I’ve got some willow hedges and apples trees. A creek runs trough my property giving me a good corridor for deer. I only hunt with a recurve, compound, or crossbow on my property because I’m in the inner city and my neighbors wouldn’t take to kindly to gunshots. I would say I have better luck on my property than I did at my grandparents property out in the country. I had a deer combo tag last year and filled both tags in October. Both with a recurve bow.
I think that’s terrific, at our last place we had 6 acres in the city backed up to undeveloped commercial land, and I couldn’t believe the Deer that we’re coming through. It can be very rewarding bow hunting in suburban areas. Most people would love to get a crack at a 5 or 6 year old deer hiding out in suburban forests. Best part is while filling your freezer with heart pounding deer encounters, your improving the deer population and reducing car crashes. Heck of a job!
So no digging under the frost line to keep water running in the winter? I live in idaho so similar zoning (zones 5-6).
No sir, not for this project. This isn’t a water supply that’s permanent. It’s a quick hook up guide for processing in the garage when needed. This is a less labor intensive water supply install to help someone process livestock, fish or deer when temperatures are 32F or above. Basically when Mother Nature is cooperating. Good luck this fall!
Just take it to court every time if you can have a regular bicycle you can have a ebike as soon as they Make you have a driver's license then you stop
Just be careful. Hunting Private land is very different than hunting public land. I can’t speak for other states but In Michigan, you can use a bicycle but you can’t use a motorized e-bike on public hunting ground, period. In most cases judges will state, Any hunter that intentionally disregards hunting rules and regulations should be prepared to loose their e-bike as well as their hunting equipment. I personally aim to avoid fines, court fees, and court dates to attend. I’d rather be deer hunting!
@@bobbysbucks i know how they make things hard but the point is if u are legally able to use a bicycle you should be able to use a standard ebike and until they make Regulations Is categorizing e bikes to a motorcycle then thats when it should stop even tho i under stand they will cost more damage Especially the high powered ones but a standard ebike with peddle Assist or Some type of traction control that wont tear up the ground would be the ideal but like i said before as the law is now just take them to court and after u win then sue untill changes are made.
you have the right ethics and sadly not all ppl are the same I live in North Idaho & grew up in North Calif [rode motorbikes there] horses tear up a trail more than a bike will. [can] (is capable of) But! not everyone rides that bike the same [sad] I used to ride with others, Buut their idea of fun was to throw mud behind them & rock you in the face while you ride behind them [thats just stupid behavior, but they wont learn, So I ride alone] recently on ebike and "if" you ride right it will do no harm. my 4 wheeler does less harm, Buut not everyone rides these right either. [sad] I ride alone as I like to "see" the wildlife NOT scare them! I want to ride there again & again & see ive no damage [other than bent grass] done by me. I go low n slow, I want to explore not wreck the area. Im in North Idaho and our roads n trials are now used for hunting - so the rest of the year I ride them. the logging trucks are on other jobs [at this time] I ride the reservation land & Idaho land without being bothered by the "watchers" those type are looking for trouble makers [abusers] I ride by or up to them and often chat with them, my aim is to show myself Not to be a threat. they know where I live & we know where the trouble makers live. here we can still ride responsibly and not be bothered nor are we a bother to others. the Golden rule: treat others as you would like to be treated really!?! would you spinout & throw mud on your grandma!?!
thank you for taking the time to write your comment. l hope with the rise in e bike users, things change a little for example I’d be willing to purchase an e-bike specifically built for public land possibly engineered with a governor so the DNR wouldn’t have to regrade anything. Best of luck this fall!
Here in West Virginia we have a couple WMA properties close to me. I talked with a game warden about riding my e bike on it and he told me no. I really don't understand why not. You can take any vehicle that is licensed on the property but no ATV's or side by sides or now that I ask no bike with an electric motor on it. You can take a regular mountain bike on it though. But we must obey the laws weather we like it or not. There are no side trails. It's just a drive road from where they reclaimed a coal strip mine that worked out. I'm just glad I have other trails I can use it on.
it’s a shame because you can run these on low speed which would make it safe for use but after speaking to the Dnr in Michigan, their explanation for the no-E bikes rule is they tear up terrain and have a negative impact on the land and wildlife -thanks so much for sharing!
It's just another bs over reaching law. Another way to keep people out of the woods that maybe a bike would allow

@@bobbysbucks thank you
Can you get a spare battery just in case?
you can, but they’re heavy and quite expensive
Here in Ky I had asked a forest ranger first and he told me to just stay on the designated trails it was ok.
I think it’s great that you reached out -most hunters don’t even read the rule book or make the phone calls to find out the regulations - good news for Kentucky!
good job! being polite. kind will get you where you want to go. 😃
Bingo. In kentucky ebikes are legally equivalent to regular bikes. So anywhere you can ride a bike on a WMA is legal for ebikes too.
I have an ebike and I wanted to warn you against mounting your weapon on the handle bars. At some point in time you will lay the bike down. Plus there’s too much vibration from the terrain. I use a sling for bow and gun. Because your body will absorb the bouncing around
thank you for the warning and taking the time to comment. I’ve used a bow mount for nearly 10 years now, i’m in my 3rd mount. So far haven’t laid it 🤞🏻down( probably cuz i ride slowly) and in order to get off my bike, I carefully lay it down sideways (cuz I can’t swing my leg over my pack on the back) but -your rifle should be able to absorb bounces, as well as recoil it helps me to ride off the seat when going over rough terrain. Hey good luck this season !
@@bobbysbucks I thought I’d never lay a bike down and it happened to me. Loose rock sticks and was going very slow.
eBikes are allowed in Utah. Just make sure your eBike is the right class for the trails you ride. Logging roads are great to ride as long as its not specifically posted for no eBikes.
thanks for sharing!
In California as long as you stay on a logging road you are legal. As for sierra pacific property witch owns hundreds of thousands of acres they also allow ebikes
It’s unfortunate you’re only able to ride your e-bike where you’d usually drive your truck.
I guess I am not really understanding. Are you saying that ebikes are not allowed anywhere on public lands or just off of approved atv or bike trails on public land (ie WMAs Wildlife refuges and such) ? I think if I were setup hunting in the woods well off a trail and an ebike or an atv or a regular bike passed near my stand I would be upset too. The gamble with hunting public land is you might see other hunters while on stand but having a bike or atv off an approved trail is a no go.
Worst part is E bike companies are advertising there own lists of states that allow them that aren’t accurate. There’s folks out there selling E bikes saying you you can take them anywhere but unfortunately, in Michigan and several other states, E bikes are not allowed on public hunting grounds. I’m a hunter who hunts strictly public hunting so this was very disappointing. You can (and always have been able to) use a manual pedal bike. Quads and E bikes are only allowed on ATV trails. You can use them on private and some hunter access programs and that’s about it. I wanted to upload this video to help prevent folks from making an expensive mistake.
Im with you on that. I like to ride, buut when I hunt from a stand or a hide. Id prefer not to see a guy park his ebike & chain it to the tree im in [seen it done] I ride ebike & a few other rigs. I park them by the road or established trail & walk in by foot. [ssh] BEFORE season opens I scout on my bike & pack in my stand & the tools to put it up. but a few weeks before season opens so I dont spook the game nor annoy other hunters, yup public lands, well ALL lands should be respected & the golden rule ALWAYS applies! gee I hate to hear 4 wheelers [I still got one tho] the noise they make can travel for miles. had a guy park his 4 wheeler in front of my hide and he walked away, hunting {I was in it at the time} it blocked me view, So I came out - and rolled it far away, then back in my hide. saw several deer n other critters [none I wanted] later the hunter came back looking for his wheeler {I stayed put and silently chuckled as he searched} now that was fun to watch from my unobstructed view :) Oh his wheeler was back on the trail and was gone when I walked out. I call that a "teachable moment" ;)
Hey maybe I missed it but what brand of bike is it?
the link is in the description click “More…”
I believe you because damn near everything in Michigan is illegal. I used to be able to small game hunt on my own land without a license. Now I can't hardly walk out the back door without one.
Interesting. Yea, There’s a lot of rules. Last time I checked you can still hunt your private for small game. Much of the land in Michigan is privately owned. Except for pheasant, Hunters can typically freely take game animals hunted on their own private property. What county? I’ll look into it and report back.
Two track roads in the UP of Michigan is legal! Most National Forrest property is also open in the UP! Lower Michigan is an always will be a Cluster fk that’s why I don’t hunt down there an never will!
It is probably illegal to breath in Michigan also.
I have a question it really made me aggravated about after many many years of successful bow hunting first deer whith a 40 pound Parker Bow 2 shot nice couse deer dropped on the spot I was addicted .. but this year I shot a doe I guess a little hi high complete pass though waited overnight when I walked up she just jumped up an bounced off i could see dry blood from each side as she turned im shure she lived..week later stuck something to be proud of 30 yards just before sun down there was good amount of boold from site of impact and good trail for 30 yards but didn't want to push him came back first thing in the morning unexpected rain washed all the blood away looked for days its been several months now still bothering me
Hell I'm still looking for him
I’d like to answer but I didn’t see the question???
I'm afraid one of these would be a major hunting accident in the making. Just saying use with caution.
Always be cautious before squeezing any trigger. I assume you’re referring to hunters that would mistake you for a moving deer? E bikes aren’t legal on public hunting ground in Michigan. But Bicycles have always been legal to use on public land in Michigan but You must wear blaze orange during firearm season. Surprisingly there’s still hunters that don’t or wear very little and for those that don’t are really underestimating the risks. ruclips.net/video/KCdlLunGWqM/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Thank GOD for IDAHO 🤠
Enjoy and good luck!
That's only if we can get tags
Best thing I did was add an eye bolt to the handle on the Hawk deer cart to which you can wrap a strap around the deers head. Only problem I had with that cart was the cargo area was not big enough to haul deer. They eye bolt solved that

All that silver skin with the meat can be slowly boiled and given to the chickens or dogs. Just a tip!
thanks for watching and sharing your tips! It’s very much appreciated!
Any update on this bike? How is it holding up?? Looking to buy one
it’s hanging in there Good bike for private land
@@bobbysbuckswhy not public?
@StealthTRD not sure what his answer is, but this bike has a 1,000 watt motor, most public areas limit you to 750
Can you te me what state your referring to that allows 750watt e-bikes on public hunting land? Thanks!

Excellent video. Tracking is an art. It takes experience and skill. However you’re making it easier. Sometimes it can really be frustrating. Need patience!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I appreciate it!
Great video. What part of Michigan?
Thanks for watching. Lower Michigan Zone 3
Throw that thing away and get a sled. It’s much better.
In the video we share a sled that we use.
So based on the comments, it should be rock solid after double bolting the handle and upgrading the tires to solid ones from harbor freight. If it can be bought cheap enough to stomach the $85 upgrade for tires I plan to buy one.
I’ve had good luck with mine. Stored it in my garage. I’ve had my cart for a couple seasons now -still has the original tires. I’ve had zero issues after in flating them on arrival.
Four is always better than two when it comes to Hauling.

Yeah some good tracking snow hit in the ground here in Oakland County.
Very nice. It’s finally snowing! Best of luck out there!
There are specific trails on every public ground i have ever been on that allowed me to use my class 4 ebike.
Which state? That sounds nice. Are you referring to hunting public with your ebike? Here in Michigan The orv trails are the only trails allowed which are no where near public hunting ground.
Tires are junk after 2years. All 4 went flate. Replaced with harbor freight tires $21.99ea
Thanks for sharing your experience. I must’ve got lucky because so far I’ve only had to inflate mine once and it’s been a couple years.
Yes, used mine ,stored it the next year all 4 tires were flat and cracked, this was stored under shelter, replaced all tires with flat free from freight harbor!

This is pretty close to what I do to. Nice to see how you do it. The more you do it, the better you get!
Very true, Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Well if you’ve had to replace your washing machine and buy a new one, it’s a good idea to buy new hoses too so you don’t end up flooding your house reusing an old hose. That old hose is a female on both ends. There you go, you can finally tell the wife you had a good reason to save all those old hoses, lol.

11.4 million acres of public hunting 99% of it has fire trails all thru it.. video kinda miss leading could surely ride my ebike down those .. we use our ice fishing alot .. got snow chains from slipnot
I hope your rules and regulations allow you to ride your E bike, This video was made to help folks avoid fines and confiscations. It’s always best to check with your local Dnr to avoid any confusion When it comes to riding your e-bike (motorized vehicle). Here in Michigan, we are only a loud to ride on ORV trails. I wish you the best of luck.
Nice work Bobby. Still waiting for mine
Thanks! Best of luck meeting up with a good one!
