Well worth taking the time to align for a straight trench !- Saves on Concrete and Muck Away and ensures 150 either side of Brick/Blockwork as per Building Regs Spec. Cant abide a sloppy dig trench.

The drain your making with backhoe bucket, was that a layer of clay because it didn't seem like top soil?
Yes mostly clay some stones bits too but not much top soil👍
Been on these things since the age of two with my grandad who owned one for his building business, he let me have a go operating when I was older. Did some footings,soak away and grading in my teens either on 180 or 360 machines privately and loved it but for some reason I saved up in my twenties and did my HGV C+E/class 1. 37 now and been looking at getting my NPORS or CPCS card.
Try getting down between services with a twisty hitch its clumsy your constant worried about catching a cable or pipe much better with a normal hitch
If I was to go down the tilty road I’d have a top hitch or maybe a nox tilty

Great video again Ted, love seeing the backhoe out. Why did you start spreading sand what looked like a quarter way down the track? I’d have thought you’d start at the furthest point and work back out? And I guess you deliberately kept off the dug track where you could when tramping the stone in then once it was stoned up, used the track as access for getting the sand in?
Hi Ollie, I did start at the top It’s a different colour sand the first load was a gray colour and the second was white it’s all recycled stuff Yes I kept off the track as much as possible so it didn’t rut up
I really like these MB buckets but when looking at one for my 3cx, they just come in too heavy for the smaller machines, hence why I went with the BAV one. But on 13t and above the MB does get through the material quicker than the jaw style crushers. I've seen one on youtube being run on the front of a 4cx somehow - not sure how they get the oil flow to it but looks a good tool.
Do digbits make those BAV crushers?
@@tedsshed2185 yes, they make the BAV ones, which is the one I’ve bought. But also just been lucky enough to test the Hawkfawk brand one which was faster than my Digbits one but doesn’t make as nice a product and I don’t think is built quite as well. But it’s a third of the price too, so depends what you’re looking to achieve I guess
Hey Ted. Did the Hitachi come with the case drain fitted? Also, are the jaws on the MB welded on or are they bolted? Ran an MB with welded on jaws and once worn down would be a pain to get changed. Cheers!
No we just run a temporary hose up the boom and tap it into the tank Yes plates are welded in it’s not my bucket I hire it in used to hire the excavator as well

Just a spot of grease but you have to the inside of the rails too

Just wondering, was that big area to that entrance reinforced with extra material this time around before fresh asphalt was steamrolled in place, due to the wear and tare of vehicles coming in and out there?
It was have hot roll tarmac which is very hard wearing 👍
Should of cut the road to begin with and dug out the asphalt Using the hoe jack was a waste of time

You could make the square cut first and then use the hoe jack, but then you can't jack too close to the cut lines because more asphalt could break off that is actually good. I think if it was a smaller area then you would cut lines first and a backhoe wouldn't even be needed. But the worst part was such a wide area, the backhoe with jack attachment was needed.
Back track from what I said. I assume the jack attachment is better suited for concrete? If the cut lines in the asphalt are thick enough and deep enough, then could you use the edge of the backhoe bucket to lift chunks of asphalt like taking chunks off the top of certain types of cake so to speak? Instead of doing just a square cut around the area, could you do multiple cut lines inside the square cut?
